Hazel Eujenior Hayes
Hazel Eujenior Hayes, 89, of Crossett died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at the Crossett Leisure Lodge. She was born on Nov. 27, 1910, to Rufus and Mary Glover Rice in Bradley County. Mrs. Hayes was a homemaker and a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Terry Hines, and a great-grandson, Dakota Hines.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Luther Hayes of Crossett; two sons, Sammie Joe Hayes of Warren and Rex Hayes of Branson, MO; one daughter, Denver Jeffers of Crossett; 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, in the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with the Revs. Wayman Mann and John Reed officiating. Pallbearers were Marty, Greg, and Bruce Hayes and Dennis, Tony and Donnie Hines. Honorary pallbearers were Mitchell Greeenwood, Lavern Rice, Bill Watson, Robert Nichols, Dale Taylor, Otis Brady, Tency Schilders, John C., Bobby, Danny and Carl Jeffers and Sean Grisham. Burial followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park.
Jason William Bonnell
Jason William Bonnell, 22, of 2423 Delane Avenue, Waterloo, IA, died January 15, 2000, in Marietta, GA. He was born November 25, 1977, in Mansfield, Ohio, to Tom and Shari Pistole Bonnell and was employed by McLeod Cable Company of Cedar Rapids, IA. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William "Billy" Pistole, and his great-grandfather, William C. Pistole, Sr.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Gerald and Shari Weiland of Waterloo; his father and stepmother, Tom and Deb Bonnell of Hampton, GA; a sister, Kristi Bonnell and nieces Sydney and Sierra of Bluffton, Ohio; stepsisters, Cami Weiland and Ginny Niedert, three nieces and a nephew of Waterloo; his maternal grandparents, Mary and Deke Deklyn of Mansfield, Ohio; his paternal grandparents, Jim and Helen Bonnell of Columbus Grove, Ohio; and his great-grandmother, Doris Pistole of Coralville, IA. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 18, at 11 a.m. in the Church Lutheran Church at 234 Hackett Road, Waterloo, IA.
Nelle D. Byrd
Nelle D. Byrd, 93, died September 3, 1999, at Richland, WA. Born in Hamburg, August 3, 1906, to Herbert and Stella Wells Davis, she moved to the Tri Cities area of Washington with her husband in 1944. She worked for the Office of Price Administration during World War II and then worked for the Richland School District until she retried in 1971. She was very involved with the Richland Senior Citizens Center and the Senior Companion Program and was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and the Richland Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Byrd, in 1965.
Survivors are her children, Betty S. Arey and husband Ted of West Richland, James R. Byrd and wife Catherine of Tucson, AZ, Michael J. Byrd and wife Lynn of Richland and Judy B. Kophs and husband Stan of Richland; 12 grandchildren, Bruce, Sean and Marc Arey, John and James Byrd, Kelly Stell, Matthew, Michael and Mary Kylie Byrd, Dawn Simmelink and Christopher and Jaime Hawkins; 13 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mable Foote and Hazel Lewis; and a brother, Herbert Davis.
Grave-side services were held in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland. Memorials may be made to the Tri Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House, 2108 W. Entiat, Kennewick WA 99336.
Mrs. Helen Hooker Dunn
Mrs. Helen Hooker Dunn, 91, of Hamburg died Wednesday, February 2, 2000, at the Ashley County Medical Center. A native of DeWitt who had lived in Hamburg since 1949, she was a homemaker and a member of the Corinth Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Dunn; her parents, Robert Carl and Jennie Etta Vawters Hooker; a brother, Robert Hooker; and a sister, Ollie Nora Dempsy.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews, two step-grandchildren, Lois McDaniel and Everett McCullough of Hamburg; two step-great-grandchildren, Tammy Penervelle of Ashland City, TN, and Martin Pennington of Bastrop; and three step-great-great-grandchildren, Jackie and Joe Coleman of Ashland City, and Martin Pennington, Jr., of Bastrop.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 5, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home in Hamburg with Revs. Travis Roberts and Joey Meredith officiating. Pallbearers were Mike Chain, Jimmy and Jim Hemphill, Thomas Coker, Gary Massey and Raymond Garner. Burial followed services at the Hamburg Cemetery.
