Amon Morris Herrington
Amon Morris Herrington, 78, of Crossett died Tuesday, February 1, 2000, at his home. Born July 22, 1921, in Crossett to Abner Morris and Fannie Barnett Herrington, he was a painter and was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Curtis, Robert and Roy Herrington.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Herrington; a son, Morris Herrington and wife Tina; three brothers, Edward and Billy Joe Herrington, all of Crossett, and Gerald Herrington of Monroe, LA; seven sisters, Estelle Chandler, Essie Fay Meyer and Frances Blissett of Crossett, Rose Lee White and Reathea Laws of Little Rock, Jessie Mae Harvey of Bogalusa, LA, and Sybil Standridge of Clinton; two grandchildren, Whitney and Courtney Herrington of Crossett; and 44 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 3, at Jarvis Chapel Baptist Church with Gayle Riles officiating. Pallbearers were Keith, James, Kevin, Robbie, Joey and Harry Harrington and Ronald Dean Forrest. Honorary pallbearers were Hayden and Johnny Hennington, Sonny and Ronnie Anthony and Jeff Smith.
Burial followed services at Crossroads Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

Cleveland King, Jr.
Cleveland King, Jr., 41, of Crossett died Saturday, January 29, 2000, at the Beverly Health Care of Crossett. A life-long resident of Ashley County, he was a construction worker and member of the Davis Memorial Church of God in Christ. He was preceded in death by his father, Cleveland King, Sr.
Survivors are his mother, Johnnie Bell King of Crossett; four brothers, Dewayne Franklin and Kenneth King of San Jose, CA, Wardell King of Houston, TX, and Robert King of Crossett; and two sisters, Marsha Miller of Pine Bluff and Magdalene King of Oak Ridge, LA.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, February 4, in the Davis Memorial Church of God in Christ with Bishop R. E. Matheney officiating. Pallbearers were Ricky Matheney, Chuck Brown, Chris Duke, Alonzo "Pete" Harris, Joe Monroe and Anthony Danzy. Burial followed services at the Westview Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Ben Franklin Pickle
Ben Franklin Pickle, 54, of Crossett died Monday, January 31, 2000, at his home. A life-long resident of Crossett, he was a house mover, an U. S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam era, and a member of Jarvis Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Lula Harold Pickle and a brother, Harvey Pickle.
Survivors are a stepson, Shannon and wife Janice Martin of Searcy; two daughters, Tabitha Jeffrey and Michelle and husband Bruce White of Camden; two brothers, James Pickle of Carmichael, CA, and Jimmy and wife Marty Pickle of Crossett; two sisters, Minnie Atkins and Nancy and husband Doyle Gray of Crossett; a granddaughter and three step-granddaughters.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, in the Cromwell Funeral Home chapel with Revs. Don Ward and Ralph Gray officiating. Pallbearers were Carl Gray, Kirk Gray, Bobby "Bo" Powell, Keith Forrest, Woody Forrest and Robert Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers were S. C. Ferrell, Ed Edmonson and members of VFW Post 9360. Burial followed services at the Carlock Cemetery.

James C. Smith
James C. Smith, 92, of Lake Village died Monday, January 31, 2000, at the Chicot Memorial Hospital. Born in Savannah, TN, on April 23, 1907, to the late James C. and Maggie J. Thomas Smith, he was a farmer, had a land clearing business and was a caretaker of the Woodstock Island Hunting Club for 50 years. An avid sportsman and a member of the Lake Village Baptist Church, he was preceded in death by a son, James Christopher "Scooter" Smith in 1968 in Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Marjorie W. Smith of Lake Village; a son, William H. Smith of Lake Village; a daughter, Sherry Copete of Houston, TX; grandchildren Melissa B. and husband Robert McArthur of Portland, Christopher and wife Beverly Boyd of Jackson, MS, Bill, Keith and Bruce Smith of California; great-grandchildren Megan, Shelby and Robert McArthur of Portland and Matt, Jason and Tyler Boyd of Jackson, MS; a brother, Durwood Smith of Mobile, AL; and a sister, Margaret Wright of Mayflower.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, in the Lake Village Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Albritton officiating and with eulogies by State Rep. Sammy Angel and Dean Evans. . Pallbearers were Dean Evans, Sam Angel, Larkin Brown, Bob Neal, Jerry Seamans, and Shanon Talkington. Honorary pallbearers were Red Gearing and Johnny Grassi.
Burial followed services at the Lake Village City Cemetery with arrangements by Steele Funeral Home of Lake Village.
