Mrs. Pearline Franklin
Mrs. Pearline Franklin, 63, of Crossett died Wednesday, January 12, 2000, at the Jefferson Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Mrs. Franklin was a native of Ashley County, a lifelong resident of Crossett, a homemaker and a member of Living Testament Church of God in Christ. . She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Franklin; one son, Gary D. Bankston; her parents, Mose and Ada Cason Goree; one brother, Richard Cason; and three sisters: Evora Colbert, Rhoda B. Hayes and Evonne Rowe.
She is survived by two sons, Lawrence Bankston Jr. of Crossett and Ricky Franklin of Kansas City, MO; two brothers, Robert Cason of Houston, TX and John L. Cason of Oakland, OH; two sisters, Cornelius Simmons of Oakland, CA and Florene Franklin of Crossett; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 17, at 11 a.m. at the Living Testament Church of God in Christ with Rev. Nolan Phillips officiating. Pallbearers were Levell Stanley Jr., Robert Stanley, Johnny Stanley, Glenn Stanley, Ray Stanley and Doyal Miller. Interment was at the Nimmons Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Thurman Paul Gilmore
Thurman Paul Gilmore, 80, of Crossett died Wednesday, January 12, 2000, at his residence. He was born on May 2, 1919, in Strong to his parents, Thermion and Annie Pearl Taunton Gilmore. Mr. Gilmore was a World War II veteran and a retired employee of Georgia-Pacific Paper.
Survivors include one son, James Monroe Gilmore of Crossett; three daughters, Paulette Gilmore of Pine Bluff, Linda Mitchell of Altus, and Betty Watson of Rye, TX; two sisters, Sarah Christine Gilmore Lee and Shirley Ann Gilmore Faulkner, both of Little Rock; eleven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at two p.m. Friday, January 14, at the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with Bro. Isaac Patton officiating. Pallbearers were Paul Dillard, Jimmy Cook, Michael Gilmore, Nicholas Amos, Walter Paul Clark, Chris Evans, Tommy Rice, Lonnie Sharp, and Charles Burton. Interment was at Pinewood Memorial Park.
Howard Buford Graves
Howard Burford Graves, 86, of Monticello died Saturday, January 8, 2000, at his home. Born in Drew County on March 16, 1913, to the late Otis and Lucy Chavis Graves, he worked for Continental Can Company and was a member of the Prairie Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors are a son, William Graves of Boise, Idaho; two daughters, Linda Irwin of Washington and Ruby Ann Simmons of California; one brother, Preston Graves of Monticello; a sister, Deva Adair of Pine Bluff; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a stepson, Cecil Howell of Bryant; and two stepdaughters, Virginia Graves of Monticello and Barbara Day of Oregon.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 13, in the Prairie Grove Baptist Church with Revs. Jim Bates and Jack Ferguson officiating. Pallbearers were Tommy, Wayne, and Dale Graves, Donny Bowden, Clifford Bowden and Roger Chavis.
Burial followed services at the Prairie Grove Cemetery, directed by Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home of Monticello.
Christopher Allen Howard
Christopher Allen Howard, 16, of Crossett died Thursday, January 6, 2000, in Crossett. Mr. Howard was a native of Ashley County, a resident of Crossett and a Baptist. He was proceeded in death by his father, Vance Allen Howard.
He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Stanley, and his step-father, Willie Stanley; three brothers, Antonio Charleston, Alonzo Lambert and Marcus Charleston; one step-brother, William Robinson; and one sister, Veronica Curtis; his maternal grandmother, Irene Fisher, all of Crossett; his paternal grandparents, George W. and Lee Ester Howard of Hamburg; and a special friend, Monique Kennedy.
Funeral services were Thursday, January 13, at 1:00 p.m. at the Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie R. Taylor officiating. Pallbearers were Burt Shaw, Elroy Beverly, Herbert William, Curtis Jackson Jr., Marcus Harris and Marlee Carter. Honorary pallbearers were William Robinson, Louis Gaston II, Marcus Jordan, Oliver Caldwell Jr., Edward Morris Jr. and Jonathan James. Interment was at the Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
