Mr. James "Pete" Vaughan
Mr. James "Pete" Vaughan, 49, of Watson died Wednesday, January 5, 2000, at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Mr. Vaughan was a resident of Watson for the past two years after living in Portland and Montrose for most of his life and was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Montrose Baptist Church; an U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian McCory Vaughan, and a sister, Brenda Griffith.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Stewart Vaughan of Watson; a son, James Vaughan, Jr., of Memphis; two daughters, Patricia Kelley of Hamburg and Loretta Palmerin of Crossett; his father, James Vaughan of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Kathy Ticer and Sandra Lunsford, both of Pine Bluff; six grandchildren, Tony, Kevin and Gregory Kelley, Rosa and Elizabeth Palmerin and Tavion Vaughan.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 7, at the Montrose Baptist Church with Rev. Carlton White officiating. Pallbearers are Bill Bridges, David Burns, Bobby Ticer, James Vaughan Jr., James Kelley and Billy Gosney. Burial followed services at the Montrose Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home in Hamburg.
Mr. Earnest Wells
Mr. Earnest Wells, 84, of Hamburg died Sunday, January 2, 2000. Born September 26, 1915, in Strong, he was the son of Tommy and Annie Fife Wells.
Survivors include his wife, Helen E. Frisby Wells of Hamburg; a daughter, Robbie Lynn Pryor of Hamburg; a sister, Eunice Massey of El Dorado; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, in the Green Grove Assembly with Revs. James Adams and David Acres officiating. Burial followed services at the Green Grove Cemetery near Strong, directed by Rumph-Owens Funeral Home of El Dorado.
Mrs. Gustavia Hicks Windom
Mrs. Gustavia Hicks Windom, 85, of Parkdale died Monday, January 3, 2000, at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. A native of Camden, AL, and a Parkdale resident for the past 80 years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Union Baptist Church in Parkdale. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leroy Windom and Hugo Hicks; her parents, Charlie and Altha Adams Armistead; two brothers, Johnny and Frank Armistead; and two sisters, Cora Mae Burse and Bertha Williams.
Survivors are a foster daughter, Mabel Moseby of Portland; four sisters, Francis Cobb of Parkdale, Pauline Vine of Crossett; Jeronie Anthony of Parkdale and Ruth Blakely of Crossett; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 8, in the Union Baptist Church with Rev. Jessie Knight officiating. Pallbearers were Michael Cobb, Randolph and Dennis Morris, Otis Anthony, Curtis Hamilton and Carlos Washington. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of the church. Burial followed services at the Zion Hill Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Alton L. "Brad" Bradford
Alton L. "Brad" Bradford, 77, of Bonita, LA, formerly of Crossett died Thursday, December 30, 1999, at the Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop, LA. Born October 20, 1922, to John and Lexer Hamaker Bradford in Banks, he was a district manager and appraiser for Interstate Life Insurance Company and a member of the VFW, AARP and Underwriters' Association. He served four years in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Egypt Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Beatrice Woods Bradford of Bonita; a son, Kevin Lee Bradford of Oklahoma; a daughter, Helen Ruth Boyd of Lufkin, TX; three brothers, H. L. and James Bradford of Houston, TX, and Donald Bradford of Waskem, TX; a sister, Mary Mercer of Rison; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 2, in the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with Rev. Farrell Breshears officiating. Pallbearers were Earl Murphy, Keith Mercer, Joey Mercer, Jefferey Moore, Keith Breshears, James Ed. Woods, Marvin Holmes and Nick Martin. Burial followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park.
