Mrs. Carolyn L. Hill
Mrs. Carolyn L. Hill, 69, of Hamburg died Monday, January 3, 2000, at the Ashley County Medical Center. A native and life-long resident of Hamburg and Ashley County, she was retired from the Hamburg school lunchroom and was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Billy Hill, Jr., in 1995; her parents, Clifton and Mary Lou Stovall Strickland; a half-brother, Johnny Strickland; and a half-sister, Patty Shelton.
Survivors include her husband, Billy B. Hill; two sons, Billy W. "Butch" Hill and wife Phyllis and James R. "Buddy" Hill and wife Tammy; a daughter, Nelda Wells and husband Thomas, all of Hamburg; a sister, Doris Mahoney of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home in Hamburg with Revs. Lawrence Amos and Roy Craig officiating. Pallbearers were to be Shannon and Seth Hill, Shane Wells, Jason Akers, Tim Endlsey and Andy Stewart. Honorary pallbearers were to be Bobby Lloyd, Lamar McCain, Benny Summitt, Ronnie McDougald, Harold McKiever, Blaine Kilcrease, Buddy Reeves and Forrest Rice.
Burial will follow services at the Promise Land Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Billy Hill Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Sandra Gwin, 1144 Ashley Road 189, Portland, AR 71663.

Mrs. Lenora Cunningham Hollis
Mrs. Lenora Cunningham Hollis, 85, of Hamburg died Friday, December 31, 1999, at the Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. Mrs. Hollis was a native and life-long resident of Ashley County and a life-long member of the Zion United Methodist Church. She retired from the Georgia-Pacific plywood mill. Mrs. Hollis was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry Cunningham in 1971 and Dillard Hollis in 1992; a daughter, Patricia Gayle Cunningham; her parents, Isaac and Jesse Shelton Norrell; a brother Isaac Norrell; and a sister, Bertie Allen.
Survivors are two sons, Hoyt Cunningham of Hamburg and Lane Cunningham of Lake Village; five daughters, Lorene Miles and Elouise McClain of Crossett, Macel Felchle, LaFran Tucker and Vickie Burch of Hamburg; a sister, Ophelia Bryan of Bastrop, LA; 27 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 30 great-great-grandchildren.
Grave-side services were at 2 p.m. Monday, January 3, at the Zion Cemetery with Rev. Tom Norrell officiating and with arrangements by Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Pallbearers were Monty and Ricky McClain, Shawn Craig, Paul Tucker, Dane and Heath Cunningham. Memorials may be made to the Zion United Methodist Church or to the Zion Cemetery Association, c/o Karen Pennington, 4146 Highway 133 North, Hamburg, AR 71646.

Mrs. Ellene Huffman
Mrs. Ellene Huffman, 77, of Crossett died Monday, December 27, 1999, at the Beverly Health Care Center in Crossett. A native of Kingsland and a resident of Hamburg and Crossett for over 60 years, she was a homemaker and member of the First Church of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Elma Saelor Thurman, and a sister, Pauline Durham.
Survivors are her husband, Dan Huffman; a daughter, Karen Batchelor of Crossett; a brother, Virgil Thurman, Jr., of Warren; two granddaughters, Michelle Grisham and Latonya Batchelor of Crossett; and five great-grandchildren, Phillip Chavis, Paton, Blake, Larah and Alex Grisham.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 30, in the First Church of God in Crossett with Rev. Steve Casey officiating. Pallbearers were Louie, Joe, Lamar and Larry Huffman, Dale Kerr and Travis Warren. Burial followed services at the Hamburg Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Erla Jean Thurman
Erla Jean Thurman, 60, of Haughton, LA, formerly of Crossett, died Tuesday, December 28, 1999, in the Willis-Knighton Hospital in Bossier City, LA. She was a native of Ashley County, a homemaker, and a resident of Haughton for the past year. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Calvin Nathan and Velma Ann Lewis Thurman.
Survivors are a son, Bobby Glen Hendrix of Haughton; two daughters, Rebecca Jane Hendrix of Crossett and Beverly Carol Collier of Haughton; a brother, Marion Thurman of Crossett; three sisters, Mamie Rodgers of Gainesville, TX, and Carolyn Lochala and Willie Deal of Crossett; seven grandsons and one granddaughter, Aimee Nicole Keen.
Grave-side services were at 1 p.m. Friday, December 31, at the Lakewood Cemetery with Rev. Lewis Attaway officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Mitchell Ryan Doss, Benjamin Lamar Hamilton, Joshua David Allen, Caleb Elijah Collier, Jared Daniel Collier, Nathan Paul Hendrix and Jacob Wayne Hendrix. Arrangements were by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
