Mrs. Lillian Douglas Lee
Mrs. Lillian Douglas Lee, 80, of Montrose, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at the Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith. Mrs. Lee was a native of Ashley County; a resident of Montrose for most of her life and a resident of Fort Smith for the past five years. She was a homemaker and a beautician. She was a member of the Montrose Baptist Church where she served as the church organist for over 30 years and for the past five years she has been a member of the Eastside Baptist Church in Fort Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Lee in 1982 and her parents, Thad & Fedelia Stone Douglas.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. James Lawrence Lee, Jr. and wife Linda of Fort Smith and William Thad Lee and wife Roxanne of Sheridan; two brothers, James Turner Douglas of Conway and William Jackson Douglas of Brookhaven, MS; two sisters, Virginia Douglas Teague of Dermott and Cloteene Augspurger of Orlando, FL, and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 27, in the Montrose Baptist Church with Revs. Billy West & Larry Donaldson officiating. Pallbearers were Charles Hooper, Chris Teague, Dr. Hyatt Lee, Tom Lee, Steve Mazzanti and Dr. Hoy Spear. Honorary pallbearers were Barry Teague and Matthew Crane. Interment followed services at the Snyder Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Montrose Baptist Church, 209 W. Oak, Montrose, AR 71658.
Mrs. Lisa Maxwell
Mrs. Lisa Maxwell, 27, of Hamburg died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. She was a life-long resident of Hamburg; a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph Landen Maxwell in 1990 and her father,
Lynn Brown.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Maxwell; two sons, Andrew & Cole Maxwell; a step-daughter, Jennifer Maxwell, a step-son, Richard Maxwell, all of Hamburg; her mothers, Mrs. Willie Lee Etheridge of Hamburg and Barbara Brown of Decatur, Illinois; and a half-sister, Bettina Lynn Brown of Byrdtown, KY.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Friday, May 26, in the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Meredith officiating. Pallbearers were Charles, Greg, Allen & Richard Maxwell, John McLeod and Steven McDonald. Interment followed services at the Hamburg Cemetery, directed of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Mrs. Pat Ashford
Mrs. Pat Ashford, 56, of Dermott died Monday, May 22, 2000, at the McGehee-Desha County Hospital in McGehee. Mrs. Ashford was a native of Ashley County and a resident of Dermott, Lake Village and McGehee for most of her life. She was a nurse's aid and attended the Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie & Chevie Cotton Strickland.
Survivors are two sons, Randy Scucchi and wife Mary of Dermott, and Tony Scucchi of Little Rock; a daughter, Suzett Barhas and husband Al of Monticello; two brothers, B. W. & Robert Strickland of McGehee; a sister, Bernice Hill of Lake Village; a grandson, Wesley Wells; a granddaughter, Sabrina Wells and one step-grandson, Peewee Wells.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m., Thursday, May 25, in the New Bethel Assembly of God in Lake Village with Rev. Robert Davis officiating. Pallbearers are to be Alvin Wells, Peewee Wells, Barry, Rusty & Shannon Hill, Michael & David Strickland. Interment will be in the Trafalgar Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Trafalgar Cemetery Association, c/o Mr. Ben Lawrence, 859 Ashley Road 105, Montrose, AR 71658.
Bessie Lee Jones
Bessie Lee Jones, 80, of Hamburg, formerly of Portland, died Saturday, May 5, 2000, at the Ashley County Medical Center. A life-long resident of Ashley County, she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gill Jones; her parents, Lonnie and Effie Washington Kilpatrick; and one brother.
Survivors include two brothers, J. C. Denton of Little Rock and M. C. Johnson of Chicago, IL.
Grave-side services were at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18, in the St. Marion Cemetery in Parkdale. Nephews were pallbearers. Arrangements were by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
