November 5, 1933, in Flint, MI, to Charles Harold and Martha Wolcott Park, he had been the "voice of South Arkansas" for 20 years and in broadcasting for 48 years.
He began his career at 14 on a father-son interview of Emmett Kelley, the famous Barnum and Bailey clown. He was an advocate of University of Arkansas sports and a great supporter of youths sports in Ashley County and was the driving force in the creation of the Ashley County Sports Hall of Fame. He received numerous awards, plaques and letters of congratulations including a letter from Gov. Mike Huckabee, and State Senator Jim Scott presented him with the highest honor in the state, a certificate of merit, for his contributions to the Ashley County community. Rep. Jay Dickey sent a certificate of recognition, and former Ashley County Judge Don Hartley, Coach Ed Johnson, civic club representatives, booster clubs and the Crossett Riding Club also make presentations. He attended St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carole Park of Warren; a son, Charles Harold Park III of Warren; a daughter, Leslie Carol Park of El Dorado; a brother, Fredrick Charles Park of Clinton Township, MI, and two grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, in the St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Crossett with Father George Hart officiating. Arrangements were by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

James Byron "Jim" Scriber
James Byron "Jim" Scriber, 80, of St. Charles, MO, formerly of Crossett, died Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at his home. Born September 27, 1919, in Mist to Edgar Louis and Florence Mason Scriber, he was a World War II Coast Guard veteran and a retired carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Scriber; a son, Jay Scriber, both of St. Charles, MO; two daughters, Pamela Childress of Colorado Springs, CO and Brigid Scheffert of Burlington, VT; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, May 1, in the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with Rev. Dan Webb officiating. Pallbearers were Jay Scriber, Robert Childress, Jr., Robert Childress III, Ladd Scriber, Buddy Brennon and Mike Barnett. Burial followed services at the Lakewood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice Association.
Elnora Webb
Elnora Webb, 76, died Friday, April 28, 2000, at her residence in Crossett. A native of Arcadia, LA, and a Crossett resident for 53 years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Hunter Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mittie Houston Sulmin; four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her husband, James Webb; five sons, James Webb, Jr., of Homer, LA, and Elbert, Leonard, Troy Lee and Donnie Ray Webb, all of Crossett; five daughters, Emma Webb, Carolyn Paskel and Dorothy Smith of Crossett, Maggie Hampton of Hamburg and Mary Jane Ivory of Haynesville, LA; three sisters, Erma Norton and Ora V. Grisby of Haynesville, LA, and Vera Mae Turner of Detroit, MI; 42 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6, in the New Bethel Baptist Church in Crossett with Rev. E. G. Colquitt officiating. Pallbearers are to be Fredrick Webb, Kennedy L. Russell, James Hampton III, Undra Webb, James Webb III and Terrell Wimberly. Burial will follow services at the Westview Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
