Frances Elizabeth Duke
Frances Elizabeth Duke, 65, of Oklahoma City, OK, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at her home. She was born January 9, 1935, the daughter of the late Curtis and Ethel Golden Myers. She was a registered nurse and a member of the Meeks Chapel Church of God.
Survivors include her husband, Sylvan "Sonny" Dukes; a brother, John Myers of Hamburg; a sister, Joan Hearnsburger of Bismarck; and several nieces and nephews.
Grave-side services were at 3 p.m. Friday, March 31, at the Delamar Cemetery with Rev. Bernard Escalante officiating and with arrangements by Ruggles-Wilcoxon Funeral Home of Arkadelphia. Memorials may be made to the Meeks Chapel Church of God, 149th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73165.
Mr. O. C. Farrar
Funeral services for Mr. O. C. Farrar, 70, of Farmerville, LA, were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, at the Zion Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Paul King officiating and burial following in the church cemetery. Mr. Farrar, a retired manager with Jefferson Smurfit Corp., died Sunday, April 2, 2000, after a sudden illness. He was a member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church and the Crossett Riding Club and was an U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Marietta H. Farrar; a son and daughter-in-law, David C. and Romaine Farrar; a daughter, Lisa R. Farrar, all of Farmerville; a sister, Oma Evans of Minden, LA; a niece, Wanda McDaniel of Bossier City, LA; and a nephew, Fred Evans of Minden.
Pallbearers were the men of his Sunday School class at the Zion Hill Baptist Church. Arrangements were by Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.
Helen Murphy Gee
Helen Murphy Gee, 83, of Crossett died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at her home. She was born January 16, 1917, to Ned and Leona Higginbotham Murphy in Hamburg. Mrs. Gee was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lillian Gee, and her husband, Samuel E. Gee.
Survivors are a brother, Charles W. Murphy of Crossett, and a sister, Betty Inez Patrick of Crossett.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 30, in the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with Rev. Donnie Dubose, Don Justice and Vernon Lierly officiating. Pallbearers were Mike Chisholm, Mike Murphy, Monte Gee, David Patrick, Johnny Murphy and Eddie Mac Murphy Burial followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park.
Richard E. "Dick" Holloway
Richard E. "Dick" Holloway, 74, of Crossett died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at his home. He was born in Hamburg, on Feb. 19, 1926, to David B. and Annette Pryor Holloway. Mr. Holloway came to Crossett as a geologist and retired after 31 years as an employee for George Pacific. He was an Air Force veteran having served in the European theater as a tail gunner during World War II. Mr. Holloway was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Crossett. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. Mr. Holloway was preceded in death by his son, John Hunter Holloway; and an infant brother, David B. Holloway.
Survivors include his wife, Rose F. Holloway of Crossett; one son, David Holloway and wife Erin of Little Rock; one daughter, Karen Webb and husband, Mike of Crossett; four grandchildren, John Michael and Katie Webb of Crossett and Hunter and Weston Holloway of Little Rock; one sister, Francis Williams and husband, Franklin of Batesville; two nephews, Dr. Richard Williams of Charlotte, N.C., and Steven P. Williams of Little Rock.
Funeral services were Wednesday, March 29, at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry R. Williams officiating. Pallbearers were Dickie Sivils, O. H. Darling, Hamp Etheridge, Dick Williams, Mark Malloy, Ashley Jones, Ricky Jones and Doug Webb. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Emory, Bubba Nolley, John Spivey, Frank Taylor, James Watson, Travis Ferrell, Mrs. Titus' kindergarten class of 1931, and the Hamburg High Class of 1944. Interment followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Memorials may be made to the John Hunter Holloway Memorial Scholarship, c/o Crossett Community Scholarship Association, 101 West First Ave., Crossett, Ark. 71635; or to The First United Methodist Church, 500 Main St., Crossett, Ark. 71635; or to Kaleidoscope of Caring, c/o Hospice Home Care, Prospect Building, Suite 330, Little Rock, Ark. 72207.
