Mrs. Eliza Brewer
Mrs. Eliza (Dee) Brewer, 94, of Hamburg died Saturday, September 16, 2000, at the Pine Bluff nursing Home. A native of Portland and a life long resident of Hamburg, she owned and operated Wilson's Grocery Store in Hamburg for many years. She was a member of the Full Gospel Church of God in Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Brewer, a son, Cleophus Johnson; her parents, Lafayette & Matilda Tebbs Wilson, a brother, Lawrence Wilson and a sister, Lucinda Poe. She is survived by a sister, Lee Ella Thompson of Pine Bluff; a special cousin, John Wilson of Hamburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews and cousins. Visitation will be 3 till 6 p.m., Friday, September 22, at the funeral home. Funeral services are at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 23, at the Emmanuel Church of God in Christ with Elder Huey P. Woods, Rev. Carlton Bobo, Elder Jack Woods and Elder Charles Woods officiating. Pallbearers are to be Larry Smith, Bobby Ray Jeter, Tommy Davis, John Smith, Roy Brewer, Cleveland Wilson and Robert Smith. Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of the Full Gospel Church of God in Christ. Interment will be in the Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Mrs. Esther A. Carpenter
Mrs. Esther A. Carpenter, 91, of Fountain Hill died Friday, September 15, 2000, at her residence. A native of Drew County and a resident of the Prairie Grove community in Drew County all her life, she was a homemaker and a member of the Prairie Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshal Carpenter, in 1998; a son, Garland Carpenter, earlier this year, a daughter, Clotene Carpenter in 1947; her parents, Owen & Mary Mullins Carpenter; five brothers, Horace, Willie, Frank, Owen & Tom Carpenter; and seven sisters, Rosetta Chadwick, Marie Carpenter, Lois Causey, Effie McManus, Mary Carter, Amy & Birdie Carpenter. She is survived by five sons, Ronnie Carpenter of Ladelle, Kenny Carpenter of Hamburg; Mershal D. Carpenter of Crossett; Jimmy C. Carpenter and Billy Randell Carpenter, both of Fountain Hill; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 17, in the Prairie Grove Baptist Church with Revs. Jack Ferguson & Jimmy Bates officiating. Pallbearers were Ricky, Gary, Herbert, Jimmy Ryan & Randell Wade Carpenter, James Martin, Ryan McRae and Herbert Carpenter, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were J.W. Knighten, Clifford Bowden, Bob Lloyd and Macon Causey. Interment followed services at the Prairie Grove Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Mrs. Ollie Bryan Evans
Mrs. Ollie Bryan Evans, 98, of Hamburg, died Tuesday, September 12, 2000, at the Beverly Health Care Center in Hamburg. Mrs. Evans was a native of Fountain Hill and a resident of Hamburg for many years. She was a homemaker, a member of the Eden Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dollie M. Bryan in 1947; a son, David Bryan, a daughter, Edna Justice and her parents, Jessie B. & Margaret Johnson Ross, a brother, Harvey Ross and a sister, Evie Kilcrease. She is survived by two sons, Ross Bryan and Donald Ray Bryan both of Longview; a daughter, Glendora Laurison of Hamburg; a brother, Virgile Ross of Sun Valley, CA; two sisters, Lois Simpson of Crossett and Vera Smith of Hamburg; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 14, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Revs. Charles Pullin & Mike Titsworth officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons, Steve White, Bobby Bryan, David Bryan Jr., Richard Justice, Mike Maxwell and Stan White. Honorary pallbearers were Preston Malloy, Ralph & Charles Hollis and Laron Berryman. Interment was to follow services at the Flat Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Gardner Baptist Church, P.O. Box 506, Hamburg, AR 71646.

Jewel Mae Maxwell Fleming
Jewel Mae Maxwell Fleming, 91, of Crossett died Wednesday, September 5, 2000, at her home. Born August 4, 1909, to Lynn Leonard and Lula Mae Forrest Maxwell, she was a homemaker and member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Jean Fleming; and her husband, Jack Fleming. Survivors include a son, Don Fleming of Hamburg; four daughters, Frances Deal of Camden, Redell Anders and Verda Mae Jenkins of Crossett and Glenda Henderson of Hamburg; two sisters, Annie Carter and Ollie Mae Taunton, both of Crossett; 17 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 27 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday, September 8, in the Mount Olive Baptist Church with Revs. Randy Maxwell and Larry Johnson officiating. Pallbearers were Kenneth Carter, Georgia White, Leon Wood, LaDon Fleming, Clint Fleming and Lee Bufkin. Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Burial followed services at the Unity Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
