Erma Jean Warren
Erma Jean Warren, 51, of Hamburg, formerly of Crossett, died Monday, September 4, 2000, at the Beverly Health Care center in Hamburg. A native of Ashley County, she was a member of Quinn Chapel A. M. E. Church and was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mary Pugh Warren, two sisters and three brothers. Survivors include a brother, O. W. Warren of Berkeley, CA; and five sisters, Albertine Newton and Maxine McGhee of Crossett, Lorene Springs of Fort Smith, Ruby Jewel Warren of Benton and Lue Bertha Rayford of Chicago, IL. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 9, at the Quinn Chapel A. M. E. Church with Rev. A. L. Owens officiating. Pallbearers were Robert Duckworth, Thomas Lowe, John Griffin, Willie Ed Griffin, Terrian Keys, and Lee Simpson. Burial followed services at the Quinn Chapel Cemetery with arrangements by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Joyce Ann Parish Woods
Joyce Ann Parish Woods, 71, of Hot Springs, formerly of Crossett, died Monday, September 4, 2000, in the Longleaf nursing care facility in Ruston, LA. Born March 9, 1929, to Frank and Emma Cooper Parish in Crossett, she was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church of Crossett, and an active member of the Junior Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her brother, Don Parish. Survivors include her husband, Fred E. Woods of Hot Springs; a son, Fred E. Woods, Jr., and wife Felice of Zachary, LA: a daughter, Mary Anne Lewis and husband Joey of Ruston, LA; a sister, Lucille Bryant and husband James of Bastrop, LA: and five grandchildren, Sarah and Caleb Nelson and Blake, Lewis and Rachel Latil. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, in the First Baptist Church of Crossett with Dr. David Newberry officiating. Pallbearers were Neil and Richard Chamberlain, Don, Max and Robert Woods, Rick Williams, Stovall Farmer and Joe Harper. Burial followed services at the Lakewood Cemetery, with arrangements by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Donations for Research, 10002 West Markham, Little Rock, AR 72205.
Quinton Pierce
Quinton Pierce, 83, of Crossett died Saturday, September 2, 2000, at the Ashley County Medical Center. Born in Fountain Hill January 2, 1917, to Augustus and Minnie White Pierce, he was an U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a former caf‚ supervisor for Georgia-Pacific paper operations and retired from AVA. A member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille. Survivors include a daughter, Ginger Ingram of Jacksonville, FL; three stepdaughters, Katherine Gardner of Crossett, Kaye Jackson of Camden and Jackie Lykins of Salem, IN; a brother, Roy Pierce of Oklahoma City, OK; a sister, Helen Jones of Woodlawn; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Monday, September 4, in the Mount Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Maxwell officiating. Burial followed services at the Flat Creek Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Mary Louise Watson Roberts
Mary Louise Watson Roberts, 80, of Crossett died Monday, August 28, 2000, at the Crossett Leisure Lodge. Born June 2, 1920, to William Curtis and Eva Edith Hughen Watson, she lived in Crossett until 1991 when she moved to love with her daughter. Mrs. Roberts was a retired merchant and homemaker. She and her late husband owned and operated a store in West Crossett for many years. She was a Baptist and a former member of the First Baptist Church of Crossett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess Willard Roberts; her daughter, Linda Carolyn Roberts Lamb; a brother, Thomas Allen Watson; and two sisters, Rosalie Watson Carter and Jessie Alma McKelvey. Survivors include her son-in-law, Phillip Lamb; two grandsons, Phillip "Sparky" Lamb and Devin Lamb of Knoxville; two brothers, W. Cecil Watson and Travis Watson of Crossett; two sisters, Edith Braswell of Crossett and Jean Lovelace of Pine Bluff; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 30, in the First Baptist Church. Burial followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett. Memorials may be made to Hospice Home Care, 455 W. Gaines, Monticello, AR 71655.
