Mrs. Minnie Lou Hobbs
Mrs. Minnie Lou Hobbs, 89, of Hamburg, died Saturday August 5, 2000, at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. She was a native of Hermitage, a resident of Hamburg for over 70 years, and a member of the Gardner Baptist Church. She retired from the Hamburg Shirt Factory. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Allen Hobbs in 1986; a son, Allen Hobbs in 1996 and her parents, James & Roseanne Dailey Jones. She is survived by a daughter, Katherine Wardlaw of Hamburg; a step-son, Jim Jenning of San Antonio, TX; three grandchildren, Carol Culp, Dierke & Terry Hobbs; two step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Grave side funeral services and interment were at 10 a.m. Monday, August 7, in the Hamburg Cemetery with Rev. Charles Pullin officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Ed Akin, Dennis Byrd, Royce Bowden, Floyd Fairchild, Luther Richardson, Howard Foster, Allen Waldrup, Ted Rial, Jim Wahl and Earl McCrory. Funeral arrangements were by direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1610, Little Rock, AR 72203.
Nadine Bernice Jenkins
Nadine Bernice Jenkins, 82, of Crossett, died Wednesday, August 2, 2000, at the Baylor Medical Center in Garland, TX. She was born on October 18, 1917, to Andrew and Mattie Lee Doss Medcalf. Mrs. Jenkins was a homemaker and a member of the Beulahland Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Lee Courtney, and her husband, Paul Jenkins. Survivors include one grandson, Gary Courtney, and two great-grandchildren, Kaylan Courtney and Micah Courtney. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 4 at the Beulahland Assembly of God Church with the Reverend Dewitt Rousey and Larry Hickman officiating. Interment followed at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Eva K. Johnson
Eva K. Johnson, 81, of Crossett, died Monday, August 7, 2000, at the Ashley County Medical Center. She was born on October 1, 1918 to Samuel Fred and Allie Katherine Lowery Ferrell in Vick. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the St. Mark's Episcopal Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Willis James Johnson. Survivors include two daughters, Jean Dunn of Crossett and Sandra Kay Shellnut of Pass Christian, MS; one brother, Samuel Clarence Ferrell of Crossett; four grandchildren, Gregory Allen Dunn, Shawn Dunn Davis, Suzanna Ferrell Carrier and Katherine Blair Shellnut; and six great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, at Pinewood Memorial Park Cemetery with Father George Hart officiating. Arrangements were by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett. Memorials may be made to the Janice Clark Trail Fund, Crossett, AR 71635.
Ouida Carpenter Hill McGill
Ouida Carpenter Hill McGill, 89, of Springhill, LA, died Wednesday, August 2, 2000,. She was preceded in death by her parents, T. E. {Elmer) and Mattie Carpenter; her son, Donald F. Hill; her daughter, Jean Hill Hogg; two sisters, Nadine Carpenter Johnson and Lucille Carpenter Davis; and two brothers, Oliver Carpenter and Darrel E. Carpenter. Survivors include her husband, Junius Bragg "Mac" McGill; a sister, Marie Carpenter Williams of El Dorado; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Grave-side services were held Friday, August 4, at the Springhill Cemetery in Springhill, LA, with arrangements by Bailey's Mortuary of Springhill.
