Howard White
Howard White, 71, of Parkdale died Tuesday, August 8, 2000, at his residence.
A native of Jackson, MS, he was a retired farm laborer and a member of the First Baptist Church of Parkdale.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Sr., and Bertha Turner White, and a sister, Loraine Mae Holmes.
Survivors include his wife, Helen White of Parkdale; six sons, Hershel Lee and Gary White of Atlanta, GA, Larry White of Eudora, Howard White, Jr., of Jacksonville, Ricky White of Little Rock and Rodney White of Columbus, GA; five daughters, Terri Lindsey, Celestine White and Angela White of Eudora and Dorothy Burns and Vicel Marie Jones of Columbus, GA; three stepchildren, Stacy Brown, Cedric Pace and Lashonda Brown of Wilmot; three brothers, Buddy Charles Gilbert of Eudora and Samuel White, Jr., and Larry White of Orange, TX; four sisters, Pearline Glass of Cleveland, OH, and Bonnie, Lorraine and Annie White of Orange, TX; 27 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 12, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. James Crockett officiating.
Pallbearers were Larry, Hershel, Gary, Ricky, Howard Jr., and Rodney White.
Grandsons and stepsons were honorary pallbearers.
Burial followed services at the Second Baptist Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Mrs. Billie H. Bussell
Mrs. Billie Higginbotham Bussell, 66, of Lake Village, died Saturday, August 5, 2000, at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village.
Mrs. Bussell was a native of Bastrop, LA, a resident of Lake Village since 1988 and a former resident of Hamburg.
She worked for 18 years for the Ashley County Ledger and the Ashley News Observer as a bookkeeper.
A member of the Chicot Baptist Church in Lake Village, she was preceded in death by her parents, J. C. & Eunice Griswould Higginbotham; and a sister, Lorece Ozment Rainey.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, R. H. "Sonny" Bussell of Lake Village; a son, Randy Bussell of Lake Village; a daughter, Camille Goodell of Gillette; a sister, Helen Foote of Hamburg; three brothers, Don Higginbotham of Houston, TX, Phillip Higginbotham of Winona, TX and James Higginbotham of Crossett; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Monday, August 7, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Revs. James Morris & David Powers officiating.
Pallbearers were Chad, Shawn & Stacy Higginbotham, Nan & Kyle Barnett, Dallas Stanberry, Brad Lott and Chris Lay.
Honorary pallbearers were Shanna Lay, Donnie Goodwin, William Hankins and Frank Jenkins.
Interment followed services at the Hamburg Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Memorials may be made to the Chicot Baptist Church, 744-A Lake Hall Road, Lake Village, AR 71653.
Parilee Childress
Parilee Childress, 80, of Crossett died Friday, August 4, 2000, at the Crossett Leisure Lodge.
Born January 23, 1920, to Vester and Mattie Lee Hillman Childress, she was a homemaker and a member of the Davis Memorial Church of God in Christ.
Survivors include one brother, L. V. Childress; two sisters, Eddis Tucker and Cora Lee Jones, all of Crossett, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are planned for 1 p.m. Thursday, August 10, in the Ryles Chapel with Rev. H. W. Satterwhite officiating.
Pallbearers will be Marion Jones, Johnny Jones, Eddie Williams, Gene Tucker, Willie Green, Jr., and James Tucker.
Burial will follow services at the Ryles Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Fred Edward Harbison
Fred Edward Harbison, 80, of Crossett died Thursday, July 27, 2000, at the Ashley County Medical Center.
Born November 17, 1919, in Crossett to Willie and Ruth Taylor Harbison, he was a member of Hunters Chapel and was involved in the Crossett Usher Club and Crossett Reunion Club.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Harbison of Crossett; three stepsons, James Harris of Crossett, Lee Langstaff of Sumerset, KY, and Alonzo Langstaff of Las Vegas, NV; a stepdaughter, Crystal Pace of Kansas City, MO; a sister, Mrs. Ovie Thrower of Crossett; eleven step-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 3, in the New Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Colquette officiating.
Burial followed services at the Pugh Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
