Webb Simpson
Webb Simpson, 95, of Crossett died Thursday, July 20, 2000, at the Ashley County Medical Center. A native of Ashley County and life-long resident of Crossett, he was a retired Georgia-Pacific Plywood employee and a member of the Quinn Chapel A. M. E. Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Talmadge Simpson; two sons, Noelton and Charles Simpson; two daughters, Bernice Scott and Alverta Griffin; and six brothers. Survivors include a son, Ernett L. Simpson; two daughters, Bernetta Woffard and Earlene Pace, all of Crossett; two brothers, George Simpson of Oakland, CA, and Travis Simpson of Crossett; two sisters, Margie Luster and Alverna Thomas of Oakland, CA; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, July 24, in the Quinn Chapel A. M. E. Church with Rev. A. L. Owens officiating. Pallbearers were Chadwick Sims, Charles Moore, Roderick Kidd, Ricky Sims, Marvin Scott and Tamichael Scott. Honorary pallbearers were the trustees and stewards of the church. Burial followed services at the Quinn Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Charlie F. Teague
Charlie F. Teague, 84, of Crossett died Friday, July 21, 2000, at the Ashley County Medical Center. Born to the late Calvin and Ethel Teague on January 29, 1916, in Norman, AR, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Tommie Johnson Teague. He was an U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving four years in the South Pacific and Japan. He retired as an accountant and office manager in the forestry division after 32 years of service with The Crossett Company and Georgia-Pacific Paper. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crossett. Survivors include his wife, Jean Causey Teague of Crossett; a son, Dr. Tommie K. Teague of Mission Viejo, CA; a daughter, Alice Teague Castleberry of Longview, WA; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Causey of Lancaster, CA; an adopted daughter, Martha Horn of Hamburg; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 24, in the First Baptist Church of Crossett with Dr. David Newberry and Father George Hart officiating. Pallbearers were Red Walser, Charles McLain, Leonard Biggs, Oliver Tillman, Gene Rawls, Jimmy Rodgers and John Jacobs. Honorary pallbearers were members of his Sunday School class at the church. Burial followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Louise Virginia Williams
Louise Virginia Williams, age 91, of Crossett, died Thursday, July 20 at the Ashley County Medical Center. She was born January 30, 1909, to her parents, Fulton and Kate Redding Womble in Ashley County. Mrs. Williams was a housewife and a member of the South Crossett Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, I. H. "Bill" Williams. Survivors include one son, Billy Williams of Jacksonville, FL; four daughters, Katie Kitchens of Texarkana, Sybil Rolen of West Monroe, LA, Margie Strebeck and Linda Young, both of Crossett; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, at the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with the Revs. Jimmy Lewis and James Kitchens officiating. Pallbearers were Steve Jordan, Gary Booker, Curtis McDill, Mike Kitchens, John Ginn and Steve Kinchloe. Interment was at the Pinewood Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett
Timothy Allen Amerson
Timothy Allen Amerson, 50, of Crossett died Monday, July 10, 2000, at his home. He was born June 1, 1950, to Donald Lewis and Edith Mae Daniels Amerson in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was an U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam conflict and worked as a carpenter. Survivors include his wife, Theresa Amerson of Crossett; two sons, Timothy Allen Amerson, Jr., and John Amerson; two stepsons, Charlie Barfield and Tommy Barfield, all of Pottsville; a daughter, Nichole Amerson of Oklahoma City; his mother, Edith Amerson of Crossett; a brother, Richard Amerson of Crossett; two sisters, Patricia Norman of Hamburg and Boots Kelley of Phoenix, AZ; two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, in the Rolfe Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Carlton White officiating. Burial followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
