Althea Nichols Patton
Althea Nichols Patton, 79, of Crossett died Sunday, December 17, 2000. Born March 30, 1921, in Kingsland, she was active in the NAACP, a financial secretary for the Plywood Local Union #474, and was a foster grandparent for ten years. She was a member of Gates Chapel A. M. E. Church and attended Victory Christian Fellowship. A loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed cooking and reading her Bible, providing Biblical counseling to many friends and relatives.
Survivors include three sons, Leroy, John and Robert Patton of Crossett; two daughters, Robbie Brown of Crossett and Mary Patton of Johnsville; a brother, Otha Coleman of California; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 23, in the New Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. B. J. Jackson officiating.
Burial followed services at the Westview Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

Mrs. Dorothy Pollock
Mrs. Dorothy Pollock, 75, of Hamburg, died Thursday, December 21, 2000, at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. A native of Ashley County and a resident of Hamburg for most of her life, she worked at Harrison's Department Store, Kroger and Drakes Drug Store and was a member of the Gardner Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eli & Mary Biggs Williamson; two brothers, Marvin & Edward Williamson and two sisters, Ruby Williamson Bawcom and Erma Williamson Mathis.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Delle Pollock of Hamburg; a step-son, Terry Pollock of Little Rock; a step-daughter, Debbie Mills of Little Rock; a brother, L. V. "Bo" Williamson of Snyder; three sisters, Georgia Robinson and Bobbie Peacock of Hamburg and Mary Woods of Ashdown; a special niece, Debbie Woods Boone and husband, David, and their children of Ashdown; three step-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 23, in the Gardner Baptist Church with Revs. Charles Pullin and Klois Hargis officiating. Pallbearers were Donnie & Jimmy Horn, Marvin & Tony Vestal, Richard & Bobby Joe Gwin, Philip Lauhon and Donnie Miller. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Miller Deer Camp. Interment followed services at the Hamburg Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Gardner Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 506, Hamburg, AR 71646.

Versie Mae Colbert
Versie Mae Colbert, 57, of Hamburg died Tuesday, December 12, 2000, at the Ashley County Medical Center. A life-long resident of Hamburg, she was a homemaker and a member of the Epistles of God Church of Deliverance. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Jean Colbert, and her father, Charlie Brown.
Survivors include three sons, James and wife Dawanda Colbert, Kenny Crawford and Daryl Haynes, all of Stone Mountain, GA; a daughter, Hattye and husband Desmond Andrews of Stone Mountain; her mother, Hattie Mae Brown of Hamburg; four brothers, Dan and Terry Brown of Hamburg, Charles Brown of Magnolia and Ronnye Brown of Little Rock; four sisters, Shellia Ann Lawson of Crossett, Ruby Robinson of Little Rock, and Katy Bell and Sandra Bedford of North Little Rock; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16, in the chapel of Cromwell Funeral Home in Hamburg with Pastor Mary Arnold officiating. Pallbearers were Jessie Simpson, Bobbie Barnett, Michael Cox, Levell Stanley, James Tucker and J. W. Brown. Burial followed services at the Johnson Memorial Cemetery.

Ethel Dortch
Ethel Dortch, 92, of Parkdale died Sunday, December 10, 2000, at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. A native of Thomasville, AL, she was a homemaker and a member of the Penny Chapel A. M. E. Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Dortch; a son, Morris Dortch; a daughter, Mazie Lee Cobbs; an adopted daughter, Mary Dortch; and her parents.
Survivors include three sons, Leroy Dortch of Chicago, IL, Charlie Dortch of Galesburg, IL, and Clauzell Dortch of Parkdale; an adopted son, Cleveland Dortch of Mesquite, TX; seven daughters, Lucinda Coleman, Mary Stella Watkins, Nellie Gray Stanley, and Ethel Mae Campbell of Parkdale, Elen Davison and Beulah Dortch of Galesburg, IL, and Rosie Lee Thomas of Chicago; 37 grandchildren, 111 great-grandchildren, 40 great-great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m Saturday, December 16, in the Penny Chapel A. M. E. Church with Rev. Willie Mae Goodwin officiating. Pallbearers were Wayne Mooney, David Smith, Randy Smith, Randolph Morris, Dennis Morris, A. C. Campbell, Larry Taylor, and Willie Williams. Honorary pallbearers were the trustees of the church. Burial followed services at the Zion Hill Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
