Betty Jo Donaldson
Betty Jo Donaldson, 68, of Crossett, died Thursday, November 30, 2000, at her residence. She was born on September 14, 1932 to David Eugene and Johnnie Mae Smith Stell. Mrs. Donaldson was a honor student when attending Hamburg High School, an Ashley County Medical Center Auxiliary member, and a member of First Baptist Church of Crossett where she was involved with the Golden Voices and working with the youth. She loved quilting, fishing, the outdoors and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Donaldson was preceded in death by two sisters, Francis Kelley and Jean Cahill; and one brother, John Stell.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Eugene Donaldson of Crossett; one son, Jimmy Donaldson of Crossett; two daughters, Janet Cronin of Little Rock and Judy Jenkins of Harrison; two sisters, Carrie Austin of Monticello and Celeste Fairweather of Davenport, LA; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 1, in the First Baptist Church of Crossett with Dr. David Newberry officiating. Interment followed at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Doyle Donaldson, Donnie Rice, Hugh Austin, David Culp, Don Cahill and Bill Kelly. Honorary pallbearers were J.D. Kelly, Charles Morgan Kelly Jr., Bobbie Jones and Charles Donaldson.

Phillip Key
Mr. Phillip Rayner Key, 35 of Monette, died Thursday, November 9, 2000, in Little Rock. He was born June 29, 1965 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Linda Kay Rider Key and the late Jimmy Eugene Key Sr. He attended school in Hamburg as a young person and resided there for a number of years. Mr. Key was also a former resident of Memphis and Little Rock before recently moving to Monette. He was a self-employed painter and he attended the First Assembly of God Church in Sherwood. Mr. Key was marriage December 1, 1997, to the former Miss Renae Bunch, who survives. He loved music and singing, writing poetry, and traveling to the mountains and the ocean. Along with his father, Mr. Key was preceded in death by his daughter's mother and first wife, Kimberly Adams Key of Memphis, and his grandparents, Sarah and Andrew Rider, and James and Bertha Key.
In addition to his wife, Renae, survivors include one daughter, April Key, and his mother, Kay Key, both of Wynne; and a brother, Jimmy Eugene Key Jr. of Elberta, Alabama.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 11, at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Hancock, pastor of Wynne First Assembly of God, officiating. Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home of Wynne and McCrory was in charge of arrangements.
The family requests that memorials be made to Teen Challenge, P.O. Box 8177, Hot Springs, AR 71909.

Mrs. Ora Hester Phillips
Mrs. Ora Hester Phillips, 97, of Fountain Hill, died Sunday, December 3, 2000, at the Beverly Health Care Center in Crossett. Mrs. Phillips was a native of Crossett; a resident of Fountain Hill for 70 years and a resident of Crossett for the past 7 years. She was a retired teacher who taught in the Welch and Fountain Hill schoola. She was a member of the Fountain Hill First Baptist Church where she was president of the WMU for many years and Sunday school teacher, and she was a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Robert R. (Ray) Phillips in January of this year; her parents, Jim & Maggie Geddie Hester; two brothers, Aldon E. & Roland E. Hester; a sister, Adelle Hollis and three brothers that died in infancy.
Survivors include three sons, James Avery Phillips and wife Maxine of Houston, TX, William R. "Bill" Phillips and wife JoAnn, and Millard E. Phillips and wife Edith of Crossett; two daughters, Elsa Raye Cason and husband V.W. of Fountain Hill and Gladys Hester Sanders of Lubbock, TX; one brother, J. Norman Hester of Crossett; two sisters, Corinne Binns of Crossett and Inez Norrell of El Dorado; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews; and two care-givers, Susie Murphy of Hamburg and Martha Boney of Bastrop, LA.
Funeral services are set for 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 6, at the Fountain Hill First Baptist Church with Revs. Bill Elton and Gene Gregory officiating. Pallbearers are to be Terry Phillips, Craig Gentry, Neal Phillips, Tim Vaden, Stewart Phillips and Tim Krisell. Honorary pallbearers are to be Sterling White, Bobby Binns, Thomas Norrell, Tim Norrell, Charles Hollis, Bill Hester, Dale Hester, Frank E. Denson, Robert A. Phillips and Edward Phillips. Interment will be in the Flat Creek Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Fountain Hill First Baptist Church, c/o Velton Cason, 213 Ashley Road 482, Fountain Hill, AR 71642.

Mrs. Florence Hobbs Yates
Mrs. Florence Elizabeth Hobbs Yates, 72, of Fountain Hill died Monday, November 27, 2000, at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. A native of Montrose and a resident of Fountain Hill for the past 35 years, she retired from the Hamburg Shirt Factory in 1990 and was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Carl Eastwood in 1989 and Joe Yates in 1980; her parents, J. B. & Opal Brewster Hobbs, two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include five sons, Carl "Ricky" Eastwood of Florence, WI; Billy Joe Yates of Fountain Hill, Butch Yates of Monticello, Joe Fred Yates of Hamburg and James Fred Yates of Little Rock; five daughters, Glennis Holland of Hamburg, Bonnie Tumlison and Jo Ann Qualls of Crossett, Nancy Wilcox of Fountain Hill, and Joyce Smith of Monticello; three brothers, Robert Hobbs of Crossett, Jackie Hobbs of Alsey, IL and Jimmy Hobbs of Greenbrier; three sisters, Lynell Bowen of Pine Bluff, Linda Poole of Vilonia, and Sue Johnson of Crossett; 23 grandchildren, Deen Griffith, Davie Holland, Stacey Ricks White, Casey Ricks High, Paul Ricks, Heather Eastwood, Scott Eastwood Porter, Anthony & Joseph Wilcox, Amanda Holland Heranney, Nicholas Holland, L.B., Kevin & Jennifer Yates and nine others; 14 great-grandchildren, Trent & Keaton Griffith, Tabitha McDougald Freeman, Tori Land, Vance High, Birttany Ricks, Caleb Eastwood and Austin Heranney and six others and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 29, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Revs. Jackie Hobbs and Jack Calclasure officiating. Pallbearers were Jimmy Shaver, Skip Maxwell, Dickey & Rocky Savage, Frank Wesson and Frankie Martin. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons. Interment followed services at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, c/o Mr. Howard Foster, 320 W. Radford, Hamburg, AR 71646.
