Grace Evelyn Talley Barham
Grace Evelyn Talley Barham, 75, of Crossett died Thursday, January 25, 2001, at her home. Born February 5, 1925, in Hermitage to Clifton Hunter Talley, Sr., and Alda Burt Evans Talley, she was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church since 1934, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and a charter member of the Ashley County AARP. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Hollier.
Survivors include a son, John David Barham, Sr., of Falkville, AL; two daughters, Linda Carolyn Deal of Crossett and Betty Evelyn Maxwell of McGehee; a sister, Malsie Ella Ehrensberger of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
A private family burial was held at 10 a.m. Sunday, January 28, in the Crossett City Cemetery. A memorial service was planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, in the First Baptist Church with Dr. David Newberry officiating. Arrangements were by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Mr. Charles Eugene Bradley
Mr. Charles Eugene "Chuck" Bradney, 53, of Montrose died Monday, January 22, 2001, at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. A native of Waukegan, IL, and a resident of Montrose for most of his life, he was a member of the Montrose United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey & Frances Bradney and a brother, Robert Wayne Bradney.
He is survived by two brothers, Harvey Cone Bradney and wife Marguriette of New Braunsfels, TX, and Marvin Francis Bradney and wife Betty of Charlottesville, VA; two sisters, Elizabeth Irish and Harvetta Bradney, both of Montrose; 10 nieces and nephews; 28 great-nieces and nephews, 14 great-great-nieces and nephews and his care giver for over 20 years, Beatrice Morris.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 25, in the Montrose United Methodist Church with Revs. Keith Goza & Larry Donaldson officiating. Pallbearers were Roy Vaden, David Burns, Bill Sellers, Sr., Bobby Price, Neil Sloan, Craig Shackelford, Ray Woodruff, George Goree and Bill Mixon. Interment followed services at the Pinewood Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Montrose United Methodist Church, c/o Barbara Goree, PO Box 305, Montrose, AR 71658.
Hattie Mae Brown
Hattie Mae Brown, 74, of Crossett died Thursday, January 25, 2001, at her home. A lifelong resident of Ashley County, she was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church on Florida Street. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Julia Mobley Ross; a brother, Sammie Lee Ross; and a sister. Lucille Baldwin.
Survivors include three sons, Paul Anthony and Cornelius Brown of Crossett and David Brown of Kansas City, MO: five daughters, Phyllis Monroe, Renea Crawford, Candie Smith and Janice Rogers of Crossett and Karen Mitchell of Memphis, TN; three brothers, Napoleon Ross of Crossett, Lawrence Ross of Milwaukee, WI, and Willie Lee Ross of Las Vegas, NV; four sisters, Alberta Washington, Grace Tyler and Linda Wimberly of Milwaukee and Addie N. Dunlap of Chicago, IL; 29 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were planned for 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, in the First Baptist Church on Florida Street with Rev. Evandrew Washington officiating. Pallbearers were to be Tony Williams, Leon Ross, Ben Couser, Brent Campbell, Harold Tucker and Edward Watson. Burial was to follow services at the Westview Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Henry Lee Brown
Henry Lee Brown, 68, of Crossett died Saturday, January 27, 2001, at the Southeast Arkansas Medical Center in El Dorado. A lifelong resident of Crossett, he was retired from the Georgia-Pacific plywood mill and was a member of the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of Exodus Lodge #403 and served on the senior usher board at New Bethel. He was preceded in death by a son, Donnie L. Brown; two daughters, Robin M. Brown and Katherine D. Brown; his parents, Charlie and Addie Fudge Brown; two brother and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Hester Mason Brown; two sons, Ricky D. Brown of Crossett and Henry L. Brown of Arlington, VA; three daughters, Barbara Bouie of Crossett, Bobbie Mason of Houston, TX, and Vicky Crosby of Pascagoula, MS; four brothers, Bobby Brown of Crossett, Thurman Brown of Hamburg, Danny Brown of Los Angeles, CA, and Cornelius Brown of Portland, OR; three sisters, Ruby Bradley of Chicago, IL, Loice Mays of Kansas City, KS, and Addie Temple of Kansas City, MO; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, in the New Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. B. J. Jackson officiating. Visitation was to be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday. Pallbearers were to be members of Exodus Masonic Lodge #403 with the deacons and members of the senior usher board of New Bethel as honorary pallbearers. Burial was to follow services at the Westview Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
