Mr. Alfred B. Farmer
Mr. Alfred B. Farmer, 74, died Tuesday, October 31, 2000, at his residence in Hamburg. Mr. Farmer was a life long resident of Ashley County, a resident of Hamburg for the past 15 years and a former resident of Crossett. He retired from Georgia-Pacific paper mill in 1988, and he was currently working as a night watchman at the Forest Echoes Technical Institute. He was an U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Gardner Baptist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9360 in Hamburg. He was a musician who played with the Good Times Band, and he enjoyed playing music with and for his friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annetta Townsend Farmer; his parents, Daniel & Larcie Fleming Farmer; a brother, Aubrey Farmer and two sisters, June Witcher & Merle Doss.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Witcher Douglas Farmer of Hamburg; a son, Gary Farmer; a daughter, Kathy Rowe, both of Crossett; two stepsons, Mark Douglas of Crossett and Glenn Douglas of Hamburg; a step-daughter, Lisa Allison of Branson, MO; a brother, A.D. Farmer of Hamburg; three sisters, Lila Woods and Ethel Allison both of Hamburg and Teenie Roberts of Crossett; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Friday, November 3, in the Gardner Baptist Church with Revs. Charles Pullin and Thad Douglas officiating. Pallbearers were Eugene Davis, Billy Joe Haney, Vernon Barnes, Julian Estelle, John Myers, A. D. Witherington, Junior Oden, Charles Summerland, Jimmy Wilcoxon and Garner Hancock. Interment followed services at the Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Gardner Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 506, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Mr. Junior F. Lawson
Mr. Junior F. Lawson, 69, of Parkdale, died Tuesday, October 31, 2000, at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. A native of Dardanelle and a resident of Parkdale for most of his life, he was a retired farmer and a member of the the Parkdale Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by three children, Roy, Patricia & Bobby Lawson; his mother, Ollie M. Ballinger Maglothin in 1992, his father, J.T. Lawson in 1965; two brothers, Clevon & Leroy Lawson; and a sister, Eunice Lawson.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Pope Lawson of Parkdale; three sons, Jimmy Lawson of McGehee, Austin James Lawson of Kilbourne, LA, and Danny Ray Lawson of Parkdale; four daughters, Deborah Hughes of Dermott, Tammy Allen of Kilbourne, Joyce Ann Pope of Logansport, IN, and Shirley Allen of Kilbourne; two brothers, Lavan Lawson of Portland and Glen Lawson of Hamburg; 20 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Thursday, November 2, in the Parkdale Baptist Church with Rev. Harry Noble officiating. Pallbearers were John Noble Barnes, John Sumner Barnes, Bryan Allen, J. D. Grice, Sr., David Donham and J. L. McCain. Honorary pallbearers were C.C. Everett, Jack McManus, Owen Jones, Mark Hawkins, Jr. and Harry Dunigan. Interment followed services at the Kilbourne, LA, Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Don Simpson Lloyd
Don Simpson Lloyd, 73, a lifelong resident of Crossett, died Wednesday, November 1, 2000, at the Ashley County Medical Center. He was born on August 19, 1927 to Thad Dink and Edyth Boyd Lloyd. Mr. Lloyd retired in 1992 from Georgia-Pacific after 36 years of employment. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Crossett Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn E. Lloyd of Crossett; one son, Thad Lloyd of Crossett; one daughter, Donna Garison of McGehee; and three granddaughters, Geneva Lynn Garison, Sarah Janette Garison, both of McGehee, and Ashley Evan Lloyd of Crossett.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 2, in the First Baptist Church of Crossett with Jimmie Lewis officiating. Pallbearers were Ronnie Pruitt, Johnny Blankenship, Jason Allen, Chuck Allen, Jim Ross, Jason Rainey and Jimmie Lewis with the Crossett Lions Club serving as honorary pallbearers. Interment followed at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Essie Swan Morgan
Essie Swan Morgan, 90, of Crossett died Tuesday, October 31, 2000, at the Crossett Leisure Lodge. Born January 28, 1910, to Oscar and Mary Pippen Swan, she was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church and enjoyed working in her yard and cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Morgan.
Survivors include a daughter, Rosemary Robinson of Crossett; a grandchild, Kelley Robbins, and a great-grandchild, Dylan Robbins of Benton.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, in the chapel of the First Baptist Church of Crossett with David Newberry officiating. Pallbearers were Gerald Morgan, Tim Ballard, Lee Barnett, Sonny Brooks, Downey Robinson, Mike McDaniels, Gary Outlaw and Bill Deggs.
Burial followed services at the Crossroads Cemetery with arrangements by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
