Aaron Cason
Aaron Cason, 82, died Friday, October 27, 2000, at his residence in Crossett. A life-long resident of Ashley County, he was retired from the Georgia-Pacific paper mill and was a member of the Hunter Chapel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Mary Sue Benson Cason; and two sisters, Clara and Lottie Daniels.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Lee Cason; two sons, Leroy Cason of Crossett and Harry Gene Cason of Los Angeles, CA; two daughters, Mary Williams of Crossett and Lillie Dennard of Southfield, MI; one sister, Willie Mae Wilson of Crossett, nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were planned for 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, in the Pleasant Green Baptist Church with Rev. E. G. Colquitt officiating. Pallbearers were to be Carl Dupree, Ronnie Parker, Ricky Parker, Michael Robinson, Randy Dupree and Edgar Nalls. Burial was to follow services at the Westview Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Edna Green Fleming
Edna Green Fleming of Houston, TX, died Monday, October 23, 2000, after a brief illness. She grew up in Crossett, the daughter of Arthur and Mattie Green, and graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway and attended graduate school at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville. She lived in the Galveston Bay, TX, area for the past 30 years and was a commercial property manager, an avid gardener and genealogy researcher. She loved travel, music, history and animals. She was a member of the Seabrook United Methodist Church and the Board of Friends of the Freeman Memorial Library.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Robert N. Fleming, Jr.; a son, Keith Fleming and wife Cindy of San Antonio, TX; a brother, Robert S. Green of Monroe, LA; and a niece, Sarah Green Wyatt and husband Tracy of Monroe.
A memorial service was held at 11 a. m. on Monday, October 30, in the Crossett United Methodist Church. The remains were cremated, with arrangements by Forest Park East Funeral Home of Webster, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Seabrook United Methodist Church, 513 Third Street, Seabrook, TX 77586.
Mrs. Penny Kilcrease
Mrs. Linda Jane "Penny" Kilcrease, 56, of Hamburg, died Wednesday, October 25, 2000, at the Beverly Health Care Center in Hamburg. Mrs. Kilcrease was a native of Eudora, a resident of Hamburg for most of her life and a resident of Little Rock for the past 14 years. She was a nurse and a member of the Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock. She fought a courageous battle against cancer for the past 14 years and still had time to serve other people and her Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl & Loye Carpenter Bing.
Survivors include two daughters, Mitzi Holmes of Monroe, LA, and Mary Ellen (Sissy) Dixon of Tucson, AZ; a brother, Rudy Bing of Crossett; two sisters, Annette Weindorf and Gail Higginbotham of Hamburg, a half-sister, Libby Smith of Pine Bluff and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Friday, October 27, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Rev. Bill Wellons officiating. Pallbearers were Matt Moffatt, Steve Cunningham, Johnny & David Kilcrease, Eric Higginbotham and David Johnston. Interment followed services at the Hamburg Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
Wendy Esmeralda Mendiola
Wendy Esmeralda Mendiola, the thirteen month old daughter of Caludio & Marcela Mendiola of Hamburg, died Wednesday, October 25, 2000, at the Nebraska Health System University Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
Survivors in addition to her parents are two brothers, Heriberto & Roberto Mendiola; a sister, Claudia N. Mendiola, all of Hamburg; her paternal grandparents, Mucio Mendiola and Juana Garay of Mexico and her maternal grandparents, Lucas Munoz & Patricia Almaraz of Mexico.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 28, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Rev. Ariel Hernandez officiating. Pallbearers were Erasmo Munoz, Nabor Mendiola, Nolberto De La Cruz and Jose G. Luevanos. Interment followed services at the Hamburg Cemetery.
