on August 12, 1920, to Jess B. and Ruth Hamaker Richards, Mr. Richards was an Air Force veteran of World War II, serving in the 75th Squadron. He was employed with AD&N Railroad for 41 years before retiring in 1980. Mr. Richards was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crossett.
Survivors include his wife, Marteal Richards of Crossett; one son, John Grady Richards of Crossett; two daughters, Charlotte Miller of Crossett and Marsha Herrick of Benton; two sisters, Rose Barker of Crossett and Dorothy Streety of Cleveland, TN; five grandchildren and on great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 28, in the First Baptist Church with David Newberry and Rick Pyron officiating. Pallbearers were Greg Toney, Gordon Toney, Phillip Bowles, Jim Woods, Bill Holder and Don Woods; with the Sunday School Class, C.W. Woods Deer Camp, and AD&N workers serving as honorary pallbearers. Interment followed at the Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

Artie Lee Williams
Artie Lee Williams, 87, of Wilmot died Saturday, October 21, 2000, at Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. A native of La-Ark, LA, she was a homemaker and a member of the Second Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lecester Williams, on May 31, 1999; two sons, Willie and Lecester Williams, Jr., and her parents, William and Julie Harrington Moore.
Survivors are a son, Eddie Williams of Seattle, WA; a daughter, Dorothy White and husband Willie of Port Charlotte, FL; a sister, Mable Lee Mann and husband George of Berkeley, CA; 25 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 28, in the Second Baptist Church with Rev. L. M. Christian officiating. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Burial followed services at the Second Baptist Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Mrs. Bertie Kitchens
Mrs. Bertie Harrison Kitchens, 97, of Bastrop, LA, died Saturday, October 21, 2000, at the Oak Woods Home of the Elderly in Mer Rouge, LA. Mrs. Kitchens was a native of Ashley County and a resident of the Extra Community south of Hamburg all of her life. A homemaker and member of the Extra United Methodist Church, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Kitchens, in 1983; her parents, Johnny F. & Sallie Kinnaird Harrison, two brothers, Herbert & Lee Harrison and a sister, Zelma Harber.
She is survived by a daughter, Oma Jean Roberson; two brothers, Gaston D. and Bealie Harrison, all of Bastrop, LA; three grandchildren, Brenda Davis of Potomac Falls, VA, Patricia Roberson of Shreveport, LA and Doyle Roberson of Bastrop, LA and three great-grandchildren, Tara Davis Reed, David Franklin and Dalton Roberson.
Graveside funeral services were planned are 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 24, at the Extra Cemetery with Rev. Paul McKissick officiating. Honorary pallbearers were to be John Harrison, Dalton & Doyle Roberson, David Franklin, Jerry Barton, Charles Franklin, Steve Atkins, Claude Roberson, James Harber, Harold Gene Kitchens and Vernon Harrison.
