Clarence Edward Parks
Clarence Edward Parks, 77, of El Dorado died Friday, October 20, 2000, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born February 1, 1923, in Tom, Oklahoma, his family moved to Portland soon afterwards. He lived in Portland until moving to El Dorado in 1945. A veteran of World War II, he served in the 35th Infantry Division with General George Patton in France earning the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Expert Marksmanship award and the Bronze Star. He worked for Murphy Oil Company for 32-and-a-half years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mollie Parks; and three brothers, Elmer, O. D. and Marlin Parks.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Parks; two daughters, Barbara Merritt of Seoul, Korea, and Patsy Brown of Waldo; a son, Clarence E. Parks, Jr., of Bossier City, LA; three sisters, Faye Knight of Greenwood, MS, Louise Upchurch of Itta Bena, MS, and Viola Ricks of Farmerville, LA; a brother, W. L. Parks of Kansas City, KS; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 22, in the Immanuel Baptist Church in El Dorado with Dr. David Uth and Rev. Greg Johnson officiating.
Burial followed services at the Arlington Cemetery in El Dorado with arrangements by Rumph-Owens Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church building fund or the First Assembly of God building fund.

Erma Reynolds
Erma Reynolds, 103, of Crossett, died Friday, October 13, 2000, at the Beverly Health Care of Crossett. She was born on May 1, 1897 to her parents, Florence and Alice Veasley Spencer in Drew County. Mrs. Reynolds was a homemaker and a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by six children, three brothers, one sister and her husband, George Reynolds.
Survivors include two sons, George and wife Pauletto Reynolds of Milwaukee, WI, and Eugene and wife Annie Reynolds of Denver, CO; one daughter, Georgia and husband Curtis Burns of Milwaukee, WI; one brother, Virgil Spencer of Bastrop, LA; three sisters, Blanche and husband James Hall of Bastrop, LA, Edna and husband William Franklin of West Memphis, and Vernice and husband Pat Collins of Oakland, CA; 41 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 21, at the New Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend Tyrone Broomfield officiating. Internment followed at Carlock Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

Willard Smith
Willard Smith, 77, of Crossett died Saturday, October 21, 2000, at his home. Born in Fountain Hill on October 10, 1923, to Wesley and Deora Fairchild Smith, he was a retired self-employed auto body shop owner, an U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church. He enjoyed wood working and furniture making. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Baker Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Thelma M. Harris Smith of Crossett; a son, Ronnie Smith; two daughters, Mary Katheryne Simpson and Pat Rainey, all of Montevallo, AL; a stepson, J. W. Harris of Crossett; a sister, Shirley Smith of Crossett; ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday, October 23, in the Mount Olive Baptist Church with Bros. Randy Maxwell and Don Ward officiating. Pallbearers were Dennis Maxwell, Kenneth Brown, Laron Burke, Floyd Lott, Charles Cummins, Jimmy Mills and Eddie Smith.
Burial followed services at the Concord Cemetery near Marion, LA, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

Mr. Louis M. Wallace
Mr. Louis M. Wallace, 90, of Hamburg, died Thursday, October 19, 2000, at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. Mr. Wallace was a native of Ashley County and a resident of Hamburg most of his life. He was a retired carpenter, a member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church and a charter member of the Louis Wallace Hunting Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Wallace, in 1985; a daughter, Ruby Hopkins; a grandson, Shawn Marvin Wallace; his parents, Bob & Mary Burgess Wallace, four brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by three sons, Marvin & Herbert Wallace of Hamburg and Andrew Wallace of Crossett; a daughter, Barbara Wilcoxon of Hamburg; five brothers, Ben Wallace of St. Martinville, LA, Clifton Wallace of Oklahoma City, OK, Melvin Wallace of Hamburg, Roger Wallace of Medford, CA, and J.R. Wallace of Conroe, TX; four sisters, Clara Waits of Springhill, LA, Bonnie Northrup of Yreka, CA, Allene Carter of Crossett and Billie Sue Bonner of Fordyce; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Sunday, October 22, at the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. Kenny Williams and John Reed officiating. Pallbearers were J. L., Jerry & Floyd McCain and Emmitt & Travis Wallace. Honorary pallbearers were Willard Erwin, Wayne Gates, Larry Rowe, Bobby Wallace, and Bobby & Freddie Martin. Interment followed services at the Promise Land Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church Library Fund, 765 Ashley Road 70, Hamburg, AR 71646 or to the First Freewill Baptist Church Library Fund, 1301 Mimosa Street, Crossett, AR 71635.
