Basil D. Barnette
Basil D. Barnette, 75, of Crossett died Thursday, October 12, 2000, at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX. Born June 6, 1925, to Benson and Lula Hester Barnett, he was an Army veteran, a long-time member of the Dead End Deer Camp and the Crossett Riding Club and an avid hunter and horseman.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Barnette of Crossett; a daughter, Beverly Ann Robinson and husband Bob of Shreveport, LA; two brothers, Lexie Barnette of Hamburg and Carl Barnette of Crossett; and two grandchildren, Taylor and Laura Lee Robertson of Shreveport.
Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Sunday, October 15, in the Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Neil Pezullo officiating. Pallbearers were Mike Cooper, Jim Garrison, Tony Skender, Shane Skender, Jerry Skender, Rex Dodson, Gary Beasley and Keith Barnette. Burial followed services at the Hughes Cemetery, with arrangements by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Memorials may be made to Loyola College Preparatory High School, 921 Jordan, Shreveport, LA 71101, Hogue Cemetery Fund, 2455 Ashley Road 17, Hamburg, AR 71646 or to the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2400 Main, Crossett, AR 71635.
Frederick John Boston
Frederick John Boston, 60, of Crossett died Sunday, October 8, 2000, at the Beverly Health Care of Crossett. A life-long resident of Crossett, he was a member of the First Baptist Church on Florida Street and was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Boston; his parents, Will and Mary McGhee Boston; and three brothers, William, James Rudolph and Robert Boston.
Survivors include two sons, Frederick Boston, Jr., and Ricky Boston, both of Boston, MA; four daughters, Gail Jenkins of Dermott, Sharon Boston and Lisa McFarland of Boston, MA, and Karon Hollins of Crossett; a brother, Curtis Joe Boston of Crossett; five sisters, Ethel Roath of Kansas City, MO, Laverne Sowers of Chicago, IL, Georgia Robinson of Madera, CA, Dorothy Loftis of Crossett and Cathern Boston of El Dorado; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Friday, October 13, in the First Baptist Church on Florida Street with Rev. Evandrew Washington officiating. Pallbearers were Robert Duke, Jr., Carl Tucker, Larry Rogers, Curtis Boston, Jr., Glenn Moore and Plez Rance. Honorary pallbearers were members of the T. W. Daniel High School 1957 class. Burial followed services at the Westview Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Tressie Lanell Boykin
Tressie Lanell Boykin, 80, of Crossett died Monday, October 16, 2000. Born August 28, 1920, to Cornelious Harrison and Hattie Viola Oden Stanley, she was a homemaker and a member of the Cloverdale Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Mack Boykin.
Survivors include two sons, Lane Boykin of Hamburg and Jimmy Boykin of Crossett; one daughter, Lottie Crossley of Wilmot; one brother, Charlie Harrison Stanley of Nicholasville, KY; four grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, in the Cloverdale Assembly of God with Bro. Bryan Peck officiating. Burial will follow services at the Flat Creek Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Mrs. Mildred Adell Englerth
Mrs. Mildred Adell Englerth, 83, of Rochester, NY, died Sunday, October 15, 2000, at her residence. Mrs. Englerth was a native of Eudora, and she lived most of her childhood and her teen years in Monroe, LA. She was a resident of Rochester for the past nine years and a resident of Wilmot for many years. She worked at Janes Store in Wilmot until her retirement. She attended the First Bible Baptist Church in Spencerport, NY, and was a member of the Wilmot United Methodist Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Bert Englerth in 1989; her parents, James Merritt & Lottie Vincent Stephenson.
She leaves behind a heritage of three children; Bobby Englerth of Hamburg and Frank Thomas Englerth of Longview and Nancy Motley of Spencerport, NY; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6 till 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 17, at Jones Funeral Home in Hamburg. The family invites friends to join them in a memorial service to celebrate her life at the Wilmot United Methodist Church at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 18, with Rev. Dewayne Motley and Rev. Gerald Myers officiating. Pallbearers are to be Bobby & Billy Golden, Jason Motley, Jonathan Cameron, Mark England and Allen Chandler. Interment will be in the Wilmot Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Yorker's Family Research Foundation, PO Box 131, Spencerport, NY 14559.
