Mr. Willie W. Carpenter
Mr. Willie W. Carpenter, 84, died Saturday, October 14, 2000, at his residence in Hamburg. Mr. Carpenter was a native of Ashley County and a resident of Hamburg for most of his life. He retired from the Hamburg Water Department in 1981 and was a member of the Prairie Grove Baptist Church. He was an U. S. Army combat veteran of World War II, earning the Purple Heart. He was preceded in death by a son, Doyle Carpenter, his parents, Richard & Florence Boykin Carpenter; two brothers, a sister, and two half-brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Maxie Bozeman Carpenter of Hamburg; six sons, Vance Waymon Carpenter of Berea, KY, Jimmy Carpenter of Monticello, Willie Maxie Carpenter of Dumas, Charles Edwin and James William (Pete) Carpenter of Hamburg and Haskell Ray Carpenter of Crossett; a half sister, Eva Pruitt of Fountain Hill; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are set for 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 17, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Revs. Charles Pullin and Lane Amos officiating. Pallbearers are to be Thomas, Justin, Jason & Steven Carpenter, Tommie Bellot, Len Lansdale and James Spurlock. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Stell, Ed White and Clinton Bozeman. Interment will be in the Prairie Grove Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Mrs. Grace Mae Gardner
Mrs. Grace Mae Gardner, 76, of Tomball, TX, died Tuesday, October 10, 2000, at the Tomball Regional Hospital. Mrs. Gardner was a native of North Little Rock, a resident of Tomball for the past seven years and she was a former resident of Jena, LA.. She was a Baptist and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Gardner in 1995 and her parents, Tom & Thelma Mathis Farrar.
She is survived by three sons, John Gardner of Woodville, TX; Bill and Jim Gardner of Tomball; a daughter, Barbara McCrory of North Little Rock; a sister, Maxine Redding of North Little Rock; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Friday, October 13, in the Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Bowles officiating. Pallbearers were Glenn & Tom McCrory, James, Kenny, Ricky, William & Joshua Gardner. Interment followed services at the Snyder Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Harold L. Howell
Master Sgt. Harold L. Howell, USAF retired, 78, of Crossett died Monday, October 9, 2000. He was born on February 26, 1922, to his parents, Robert and Ruby Ford Howell. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crossett and enjoyed wood working.
His survivors include his wife, Bobbie Howell of Crossett, and two cousins, Victor Hoar of Crossett and Valerie Thomas of Paris, TX.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 12, in the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett. Internment followed at Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Betty Lucille Seamans
Mrs. Betty Lucille Gardner Seamans, 86, of Houston, TX, died Tuesday, October 10, 2000, at the Columbia East Houston Medical Center in Houston. Mrs. Gardner was a native of Hamburg and a resident of Houston for the past 47 years. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Jacinto City, TX, for over 30 years, and she was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Jackson Seamans and Ira J. Carter; a son, Roy Seamans; a granddaughter, Karen Seamans; her parents, Henry and Lottie Gardner, and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Seamans.
She is survived by two sons, Fred Seamans of Houston and Larry Seamans of Bendale, MS; two daughters, Ann Seamans and Linda Pander; a daughter-in-law Bonnie Seamans, all of Houston; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Grave-side funeral services and interment were at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 14, in the Judson Cemetery with Rev. Rawls Pierce officiating. Funeral arrangements were by of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.
