Reba Nell Gifford Martin
Reba Nell Gifford Martin, 64, of Crossett died Friday, October 6, 2000, at the Ashley County Medical Center. A life-long resident of Ashley County, she was a bookkeeper and telephone operator for First National Bank of Crossett and a member of the Rolfe Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marie Whitehead Gifford; and three brothers, Leward, Billy and Roy Dale Gifford.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, LaDon Martin; a son, Phillip Lemar Martin of Fountain Hill; three daughters, Dona and husband Willie Tanksley of Stuttgart, Kelly D'Ann Melanson and Penny and husband Rodney Brown of Crossett; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 8, in the Rolfe Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Bros. Carlton White and Wayman Mann officiating. Pallbearers were Bobby Ray Whitehead, Raymond Whitehead, John Will Shipman, P. D. Shipman, Tracy Bulloch and Don Bulloch. Honorary pallbearers were Bill and Terry Gifford and First National Bank Employees.
Burial followed services at the Lacey Cemetery in Drew County, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Memorials may be made to the Rolfe Chapel Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 1409, Crossett, AR 71635.

Mr. James Audrey Pogue
Mr. James Audrey Pogue, 86, died Monday, October 2, 2000 at his residence near Hamburg. Mr. Pogue was a native and life-long resident of the Milo Community outside of Hamburg and an U. S. Army veteran of the Philippines Campaign in World War II. He retired in 1976 from the Mississippi River Transmission Corporation. A member and deacon of the Egypt Missionary Baptist Church for many years, he was preceded in death by his parents, Curran & Mable Locke Pogue; and four brothers, John, Sidney, Lawrence "Dock" and C.W. Pogue.
He is survived by his wife, Roxie Sullivan Pogue of Hamburg; two sons, Steve Pogue and wife Rita of Hamburg and Larry Pogue and wife Elizabeth of Lebanon, TN; three daughters, Shirley Hollis and husband Bill of Gonzales, LA, Linda Donaldson and husband Charles of Hamburg and Virginia Townzen and husband Carrol, of Mt. Juliet, TN; a sister, Florence Sanders of Monticello; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, in the Egypt Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Carter,. Dale Crumby & Roy Craig officiating. Pallbearers were Jimmy Craig, John Laing, Hurley Berry, Tony Craig, L.M. Stewart, and Sam Knight. Interment followed services at the Egypt Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Egypt Cemetery Association, c/o Mr. John Laing, 272 Ashley Road 454, Hamburg, AR 71646.

Mr. James "Red" Riley
Mr. James Clark (Red) Riley, 72, of Hamburg died Sunday, October 8, 2000, at his residence. Mr. Riley was a native of Ashley County and a life-long resident of the Promise Land community outside of Hamburg. He retired from Deep South Construction in 1990. He was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church in the Berea community and an U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira G. & Lula Bell Stanley Riley; two brothers, Claude Riley, Sr., and Fred Riley.
He is survived by a daughter, Jamie Carpenter and her husband, Herbert, of Hamburg; a brother, I.G. Riley of Hamburg; three grandchildren, Amy Cedotal and husband Adam; Herbert Carpenter, Jr., and Justi Carpenter, all of Hamburg and two great-grandchildren, DesRae & Hillary Cedotal.
Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 10, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Revs. Charles Pullin and Joey Meredith officiating. Pallbearers are to be Carlis Brooks, Dennis Cox, Kerry Withers, Mitchell Taylor, Johnnie Pierce and Shane Wells. Honorary pallbearers are to be Billy Riley, Joe Sullivan, T.J. Thornhill, Dr. Charles Hicks and Frank Taylor. Perry Livingston was to be an honorary pallbearer.
Interment will be in the Mount Olive Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Nadean S. Harrison
Nadean S. Harrison, 81, of Crossett died Wednesday, September 27, 2000, at the Monticello Leisure Lodge. Born October 25, 1918, in Kingsland, she worked as a bookkeeper at the Chase Bag plant in Crossett and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Harrison; a sister, Christine Walters; and her parents, W. L. and Katye M. Stricklen.
Survivors include a sister, Ruth Jean Stricklen of Moore, OK; a sister-in-law, Bessie H. and husband Henry L. McFarlin; a brother-in-law, Jesse Harrison and wife Martha Lane, all of Crossett; and a niece, Patricia Lee Funk and husband John of Alpharetta, GA.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, September 29, in the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with Rev. Bill Williams officiating. Pallbearers were Raymond Brown, Byron Easterling, Fellon Jones, John Rader, Bert Jordan and Bobby Gill.
Burial followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park.
