Mrs. Mildred Estelle Locke
Mrs. Mildred Estelle Locke, 89, of Fountain Hill, died Saturday, September, 30, 2000, at the Beverly Health Care Center in Hamburg. Mrs. Locke was a native and resident of Fountain Hill for many years and a former resident of California and Smackover. She was a homemaker and she worked during World War II at the Defense Plant in Jacksonville. A member of the Hollis Chapel Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theron Locke; her parents, John William & Tempie Jones Allison; three brothers, Herbert, Noel & Quentin Allison and two sisters, Inez McGilton & Barbara High.
She is survived by two brothers, James & Bobby Allison of Fountain Hill; three sisters, Lois Ford of Hamburg, Doris Scott of Ringgold, LA, and Olive McNiece of McComb, MS, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Monday, October 2, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Rev. Clyde Mitchell, Jr. officiating. Pallbearers were Paul, Pat & Wade Allison, Bill Scott, Kerry Yelvington and Noel Dean McGilton. Interment followed services at the Flat Creek Cemetery.

Thomas Louis Lunsford
Thomas Louis Lunsford, 55, of Crossett died Monday, September 25, 2000, at the McClellan Veterans' Hospital in Little Rock. Born December 23, 1944, to James Herschel and Hazel Millie Johnson Lunsford in Harriman, TN, he was an U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam war, a Georgia-Pacific pulp mill employee for 29 years and a member of the Second Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Ronnie, Gene, Bobby, Jerry and Bill; a sister, Sue, and his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Lunsford; a daughter, Amy Patterson and husband Randy of Crossett; two brothers, Jim Lunsford and David Collins of Harriman, TN; two grandchildren, Megan and Justin Patterson of Crossett; and many nephews, nieces and friends.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 28, in the Second Baptist Church of Crossett with Revs. Jody Gannaway, Clay Courson and Bill Elton officiating. Pallbearers were John, Ronnie and Eddie Lunsford, Rick Pruitt, Paul Jordan, Robbie Harrington, and Jason Savage. Willis Doss and Johnny Sawyer were honorary pallbearers.
Burial followed services at the Crossroads
Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

LaVerne Russell
LaVerne Russell, 75, of Crossett died Sunday, October 1, 2000, at the Ashley County Medical Center. Born May 30, 1925, to Jessie Brown and Mabel Alloway Miller in Hustontown, PA, she was a life-long resident of Crossett and worked as the receptionist for Dr. C. E. Ripley for over 20 years. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, Charles R. Russell of Crossett; a son, Buddy Russell and wife Denise of Crossett; a daughter, Debbie Holzhauer and husband Gary of Greenwood; a brother, Don Miller, and a sister, Audrey Cutchall, both of Hustontown; and five grandchildren, Laura, Lindsey and Laiken Russell and Zach and Sage Holzhauer, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, in the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with Rev. Jimmie Lewis officiating.
Burial was to follow services at Pinewood Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the Crossett Riding Club Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 698, Crossett, AR 71635 or to the South Main Baptist Church, 2801 South Main Street, Crossett, AR 71635.

Floyd Oliver Spencer, Sr.
Floyd Oliver Spencer, Sr., 87, died Monday, September 25, 2000, at his residence in Fountain Hill. A life-long resident of Ashley County, he was a retired laborer for the Ashley Drew and Northern Railway, a barber who cut hair in Crossett, Fountain Hill and Monticello, and a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Lee King Spencer; and his parents, Florence and Alice Marie Veasy Spencer.
Survivors include five sons, Floyd Spencer, Jr., of Bastrop, LA, Marvin Spencer of Fountain Hill, Eugene and Raymond Spencer of Compton, CA, and Lecester Spender of Sacramento, CA; four daughters, Elsie Wilson of Fountain Hill, Alice Marie Ferguson and Patricia Nalls of Exeter, CA, and Peggy Marie Withers of Pomona, CA; one brother, Virgil Spencer of Bastrop; four sisters, Erma Reynolds of Crossett, Edna Franklin of Memphis, TN, Bernice Collins of Oakland, CA, and Blance Hall of Bastrop, LA; 31 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 30, in the Church of Christ of Fountain Hill with Bro. Jamie Rochell officiating. Pallbearers were Marvin, Jr., Kelvin, and Lecester Spencer, Jr., and Reggie, Charles and Jonathan Wilson.
Burial followed services at the Lacey Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Ashley Nicole Wesson
Ashley Nicole Wesson, infant daughter of Robert & Lisa Kelley Wesson of Hamburg, died September 23, 2000, at the LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, LA. She is also survived by a brother, Kenneth Lane Wesson; her maternal grandparents, Jerry & Vivian Kelley of Hamburg; her paternal grandparents, Kenneth & Annette Wesson of Hamburg; her paternal great-grandparents, Clyde & Evelyn Tanksley of Crossett; her maternal great-great-grandmother, Pansiey Kelliey of Alexandria, LA, and a host of aunts, uncles and other family members.
Graveside funeral services and interment were at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 28, at the Eden Cemetery with Rev. Carlton White officiating. Funeral arrangements were by Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.
