Bobbie Jean Adkins
Mrs. Bobbie Jean Adkins, 54, of Crossett, died Tuesday, January 16, 2001, at North Monroe Hospital. Mrs. Adkins was a lifelong resident of Ashley County, an employee of GP Plywood Mill and a member of Faith Center Church. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Norman and Mae Etter Foreman Adkins.
Survivors include two sons, Terrance Adkins of Los Angeles, CA, and Aubrey Cortez Canley of Crossett; one daughter, Marita Sykes of Memphis, TN; one brother, Rev. Charles Adkins of Crossett; one sister, Louise Canley of Crossett; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 20, at 1:00 p.m. at Davis Memorial with the Rev. Charles Adkins officiating. Pallbearers were Perry and Edgar Johnson, Redio and Marcileno Reed, and Ben and Willie Kyzer. Interment was in the Westview Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home.
Mr. Billy Bonds
Mr. Billy Bonds, 70, died Wednesday, January 17, 2001, at his residence in Fountain Hill. A native of Ashley County and a lifelong resident of Hamburg and the Longview community, he was a retired painter and a Korean Conflict veteran of the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston & Malley Howell Bonds; two brothers, Gilbert & Preston Bonds and two sisters, Virginia Price and Lila Mae Goodwin.
He is survived by a son, Bill Bonds, Jr.; a daughter, Tammy Bonds Shelton, both of Hamburg; his companion, Mary Taylor of Fountain Hill; two brothers, Travis Bonds of Morrilton and Bobby Bonds of Texarkana; three sisters, Doris Clark of Crossett, Hazel King of Hamburg and Nina Cummings of Haynesville, LA; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Grave-side funeral services and interment were at 10 a.m., Friday, January 19, at the Eden Cemetery with Rev. Mike Titsworth officiating. Funeral arrangements were by Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Eden Cemetery, c/o Mr. Jerry G. Stanley, 4026 Hwy 133 N, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Mrs. Edith Craig
Mrs. Edith Craig, 65, died Monday, January 22, 2001, at her residence in North Crossett. Mrs. A native and lifelong resident of Crossett and Ashley County, she was a homemaker, a devoted Christian and a member of the Hollis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Willis.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Bro. Roy Craig of Crossett; three sons, Keith Craig and wife Cindy of Crossett, David L. Craig and wife Kay of Possum Valley, and John Paul Craig and wife Rita of Longview; a daughter, Patricia Martin and husband Jimmy of Hamburg; her mother, Susie Willis of Crossett; two brothers, Marvin Wayne Willis of Crossett and Buford Joe Willis of Texarkana; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are planned for 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 24, in the Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. R.V. White, Jerry Carter and Lane Amos officiating. Pallbearers are to be Jimmy & James Meeks, Philip & Greg Kelley, and Steve & Tony Craig. Interment will follow services at the Hollis Chapel Memory Garden under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to UAMS, 4301 W. Markham, Slot 623, Little Rock, AR 72205.
Dorothy Deal Croom
Dorothy Deal Croom, 81, of Crossett, died Sunday, January 21, 2001. Born on March 9, 1919, to Corry H. and Mary McMillan Croom in Portland, Mrs. Croom was the first female water commissioner appointed back in the 1950s. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Croom was preceded in death by one brother, McMillan Croom.
Mrs. Croom's closet family survivors are Sarah Atkins, Corry Atkins and Jane Magnuson.
Memorial services were held to be held Tuesday, January 23, at the First United Methodist Church was Rev. Bill Williams officiating and the family receiving friends from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church.
