Mr. Houston Lane Chapman
Mr. Houston Lane Chapman, 73, of Hamburg died Tuesday, January 9, 2001, at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. A native and life long resident of Hamburg, he was a retired automobile salesman and automobile dealer, an U. S. Army veteran of World War II, an avid hunter, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. & Florene Hill Chapman, and a sister, Mary Frances Vick.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Lloyd Chapman of Hamburg; three sons, Rodney Chapman and wife Lynda Kay, Rob & Patrick Chapman, all of Hamburg; a daughter, Cindy Rabb and husband Mike of Camden; a sister, JoAnn Luebkeman of Monroe, LA; and six grandchildren, Johnathan, Daniel, Kaley & Lane Chapman and Drew & Laney Rabb.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 10, in the First Baptist Church in Hamburg with Dr. Bobby Pennington & Rev. Klois Hargis officiating. Pallbearers were Bob, Bill & David Luebkeman, Randy Templeton, Tim Vaden, Kenny Bowden, Mike Reed and John Vick. Honorary pallbearers were Billy & Henry Bierbaum, Bobby Emory, Jack Carpenter, Luther Richardson, Buddy Griever, Odell Smith and Lavon "Slick" Higginbotham. Interment followed services at the Hamburg Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Bernie Cecil Croswell
Bernie Cecil Croswell, 78, of Crossett died Tuesday, January 9, 2001, at the Crossett Leisure Lodge. Born August 14,1922, to Lige Thomas and Pearl Redding Croswell, he worked most of his adult life as a grocery clerk at Piggly Wiggly, loving his job and the people he served. He was a Baptist and was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ruby Brown, and three brothers, Earl, Ed and Robert Croswell.
Survivors include two brothers, Raymond Croswell of Little Rock and John Croswell of Bastrop, LA, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, in the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with Rev. Dan Webb officiating.
Burial followed services at the Unity Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Unity Cemetery Fund, 190 Ray Lochala Road, Crossett, AR 71635.

Leon Garner
Leon Garner, 82, of Crossett died Monday, January 8, 2001, at the Fort Roots Veterans Hospital in Little Rock. Born January 19, 1918, to Charlie Washington and Georgia Riles Garner, he was a self-employed salesman and a member of the Meridian Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Emory and LeRoy Garner, and three sisters, Doris Farrar, Aziel Silloway and Charlene Garner.
Survivors include a brother, Sill Vester Garner and wife Shirley of Crossett, and a sister, Betty Jo Davidson of Bastrop, LA.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, in the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with Rev. Rick Pyron officiating.
Burial followed services at the Hickory Grove Cemetery.

Mr. A. C. Kilcrease
Mr. A.C. Kilcrease, Jr., 85, of Hamburg died Friday, January 12, 2001 at the Beverly Health Care Center in Hamburg. A native and lifelong resident of Hamburg, he retired from the Arkansas State Highway Department in 1980. He was a faithful member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church where he was a deacon and a church musician. He was a member of the Southern Witness Quartet, and he played with the Haley Creek Band. He was a charter member of the Mist Deer Camp and a member of the Promise Land Masonic Lodge and had received his 50 year pin. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Rell Draper; his parents, A.C. & Ophelia Kelley Kilcrease; four brothers, John William, Conrad, Aubrey & Carroll Kilcrease, and a sister, Hazel Sloman.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Wells Kilcrease of Hamburg; two sons, Richard D. "Scutter" Kilcrease and Blaine Kilcrease of Hamburg; two daughters, Gwen Kilcrease Draper of Camden and Elaine Kilcrease of Hamburg; a sister, Kit Dixon of Minden, Nevada; 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 13, in the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. B. G. Woodall, Kenny Williams and John Mooney officiating. Pallbearers were Tim Stell, Willard Irwin, Jarrod Brooks, Jimmy Stell, Ed Watt, Ralph Hunter, Ernie Hennington and Ronnie Coulter. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Mist Deer Camp, deacons of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church and the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class. Interment followed services at the Promise Land Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, 765 Ashley Road 70, Hamburg, AR 71646.
