Mary Jane Jackson
Mary Jane Jackson, 98, of Wilmot died Saturday, December 30, 2000, at the Beverly Health Care of Wilmot. A lifelong resident of Wilmot, she was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Jackson; a daughter, Tisha Mae Sharkey; three sons, Robert Jr., Thomas and Timothy Jackson; her parents; Hillard and Carolyn Taylor Lewis; and two brothers, H. W. and Joseph Jackson.
Survivors include two sons, Richard L. Jackson of Chicago, IL, and James E. Jackson of Pine Bluff; four daughters, Clovice Wilder of Wilmot and Beatrice Clark, Lossie Davis and Juel Richardson, all of Chicago, IL, two adopted daughters, Jacqueline Bankston of Crossett and Jenette Johnson of Little Rock; a sister, Mamie Lindsay of Little Rock; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Friday, January 5, in the First Baptist Church in Wilmot with Rev. James Crockett and Bro. James Jackson officiating. Pallbearers were Kelvin Clark, Daryle Davies, Leroy Lindsey, Jr., Joe Richardson, Carl Wilder and Cleotis Wilder. Honorary pallbearers were Richard and James Jackson and the deacons of the church. Burial followed services at the Harris Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Belinda Jo Lephiew Matthews
Belinda Jo Lephiew Matthews, 29, of Crossett died Sunday, December 31, 2000, at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Born January 18, 1971, to Aubrey and Kathy Beatty Lephiew in Crossett, she owned and operated Peyton Days. She was a member of the Cooter Hunting Club-Weatherly Club, and her hobbies were riding horses, deer hunting, fishing and camping in the mountains. Most of all, she loved her children. She was preceded in death by two of her grandparents, Lottie Henley Beatty and Aubrey Lavern Lephiew.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Wayne Matthews; two sons, Peyton McNiece and Hayden Matthews; her parents, Aubrey "Buddy" and Kathy Lephiew, all of Crossett; her grandparents, Woodrow Beatty and Mary Lee Owen Lephiew of Star City; and a brother, Danny Lephiew of Crossett.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday, January 5, in the Community Chapel Baptist Church with Revs. E. W. Ricks and Dan Webb officiating. Pallbearers were Leon Hamm, Dan Kersey, Jeff Sawyer, Roger Hackney, Billy Taunton and Johnny Hodges. Honorary pallbearers were Rodney Ricks, Robbie Fuller, Ricky Taunton and Wayne Mosley. Burial followed services at the Arkadelphia Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Yvonne Barker Robinson
Yvonne Barker Robinson, 78, a lifelong resident of Crossett, died Thursday, January 4, 2001. Born December 28, 1922, to Robert Andrew and Waif Allison Barker, she was a member of the South Main Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleonice Robinson.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Robinson and wife Carol of Gulfport, MS; a brother, R. L. Barker of Crossett; a sister, Frances Hernsberger of Murfreesboro, TN; and a grandchild, Whitney Robinson.
Funeral services were at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, January 6, in the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with Jimmie Lewis officiating. Pallbearers were Keith Keen, Bobby Brooks, Mike Hernsberger, Charles Cummins, Bobby White and Larry Thompson. Burial followed services at the Lakewood Cemetery.
Myrdie Lee Sawyer
Myrdie Lee Sawyer, 81, of Crossett died Thursday, January 4, 2001, at her home. Born April 30, 1919, to the late Andrews Eugene and Violet Boil Anthony, she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a sister, Reba Kalkhoff; a grandson, David McClain; and her husband, Orvis Sawyer.
Survivors include a son, Lavon Sawyer of Diamond City; two daughters, Mary Ellen McClain and Rosa Kelley of Crossett; a brother, C. W. "Sonny" Anthony of Crossett; a sister, Bracie Robertson of Sterlington, LA; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, January 5, in the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with Rev. David Ashcroft officiating. Pallbearers were John Kelley, Marty McClain, Paul McClain, Ronnie Anthony, Larry Peebles and J. M. Sawyer. Burial followed services at the Eden Cemetery.
