Mamie Lee Tucker
Mamie Lee Tucker, 84, of Monticello, formerly of Crossett, died Wednesday, January 3, 2001, at the Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. A life-long resident of Crossett, a retired beautician and member of the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Bama Coleman; and a brother, J. T. Coleman. She was also a Past Worthy Matron for Silver Star Chapter #306, Order of the Eastern Star, and a volunteer tutor for the foster grandparent program.
Survivors include her husband, Abram Tucker; two daughters, Phyllis Washington of Kansas City and Beverly Cannon of Rockford, IL; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 6, in the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. B. J. Jackson officiating. Pallbearers were James Dawkins, James E. Phifer, Sr., Bobby R. Brown, Nathaniel Keith, C. T. Foster and Jessie Lowe. Burial followed services at the Westview Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Mary Tucker
Mary Tucker, 76, of Hamburg died Friday, December 29, 2000, at Beverly Health Care in Hamburg. A life-long resident of Hamburg, she was a homemaker and a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Tucker; her parents, Terry and Artie Lee Haynes Callins; two brothers and six sisters.
Survivors include a brother, Harvey Morrison of Carthage; and five sisters, Mildred Smith and Lue Willie Callins of Crossett, Mattie Jean Hampton of Compton, CA, Betty Ruth Tines of Los Angeles, CA, and Mable Harris of Hattisville, MD.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 6, in the Mount Zion Baptist Church with Rev. W. R. Taylor officiating. Pallbearers were Marvin Harris, Alonzo Harris, Jimmy Thornton, Carl Smith, Ronnie Smith, Terry Callins, and Rick Matheney. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of the church. Burial followed services at the Johnson Memorial Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Hazel Veazey
Hazel Veazey, 84, died Wednesday, December 13, 2000, in Hamburg. Born May 18, 1916, in Hot Springs to Hubert and Goldie Isom Biven, she was a Baptist and lived in Hot Springs most of her life, also living in Bismarck for about five years and in Hamburg for the past seven months. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hubert Veazey, and a great-granddaughter, Holly Eubanks.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and Jan Veazey of Cabot and Marvin and Patricia Veazey of Hot Springs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Irene and Kenneth Prince of Bismarck and Deloris and Randy Coulter of Hamburg; a brother, William Biven of Arkadelphia; two sisters, Dorene King of Beebe and Janette Lovell of Benton; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, December 18, in the Caruth-Hale Funeral Home chapel in Hot Springs with Revs. Donnie Veazey and Randy Knoles officiating. Grandsons were pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Dale Lott, Kenneth Prince and Randy Coulter. Burial followed services at Crestview Memorial Park in Hot Springs.
Mae Lillie Williams
Mae Lillie Williams, 73, of Crossett died Tuesday, January 2, 2001, at the Ashley County Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Crossett, she was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt and Cora Mae Rosston; three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include her husband, William Henry "W. H." Williams; a son, Freddie Lee Williams of San Bernardino, CA; two god-children, Drew Danzy and Josh Govan; a brother, Roy Rosston of Dermott; four sisters, Dollie Mae Peddleton of Hopkinsville, KY, Pearlie Mae Lucas and Josephine Rosston of Clarksville, TN, and Willie Block of Monticello; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 7, in the Fudge Baptist Church with Rev. Jessie L. Radford officiating. Pallbearers were Lawrence Tucker, William Lambert, Cedric Tucker, Al Tucker, Greg Junior, Ronald Williams, Junior Logan and Eddie Logan. Burial followed services at the Ryles Chapel Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
