Maggie Lucille Braswell Lee
Maggie Lucille Braswell Lee, 84, of Crossett died Monday, December 25, 2000, at the Crossett Leisure Lodge. Born September 24, 1916, to Walter and Callie Bond Braswell in Mississippi, she was a homemaker and a member of the West Crossett Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jesse, Dawaine and Walter Braswell, Jr.; one sister, Lavern Woodall; a grandson, Scott Lee; a great-grandson, Timothy Keen; and her husband, Wesley Lee.
Survivors include five sons, Thomas Edward Lee and wife Sandra, Normie Glen Lee and wife Kay, William Anthony Lee and wife Sherri, all of Crossett, Charlie Lee of Little Rock and Harold Wayne Lee and wife Ruby of Palatka, FL; three sisters, Bessie Burnette of Bastrop, LA, Dell Hyman of Glendale, CA, and Shirley Burge of Jackson, MS; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 28, in the West Crossett Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. Thad Douglas and Steve Franklin officiating. Pallbearers were Phillip, Chris, and Michael Lee, Jason Keen, Dennis Holland and Billy White. Honorary pallbearers were all other grandsons, Brad Newberry and Brad Maxwell.
Burial followed services at the Simms Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Mrs. Marceil Norrell
Mrs. Marceil Norrell, 73, of Hamburg, died Thursday, December 28, 2000, at the Beverly Health Care Center in Hamburg. A native and former resident of Crossett and a resident of the Pine Hill community outside Hamburg since 1955, she was a homemaker and a member of the Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Norrell, Jr., in 1991; a daughter, Debra LeFran Norrell and her parents, Sam & Allie Mae Courson Lofton.
She is survived by a son, Jimmy Norrell of Hamburg; three daughters, Kathryn Swan, Pauline Lowry and Debbie Laing of Hamburg; a brother, Lowell Lofton of Crossett; five sisters-in-law, Geneva King of Hamburg; Doris Jenkins & Virginia Hearn of Crossett, Frances Corker of Dallas, TX, and LeFreda Johnson of Banks; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 30, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Revs. Thad Douglas & Dale Crumby officiating. Pallbearers were Bryan Bays, Jimbo Mashburn, Norman Swan, James Miller, Sonny Betha and Gale Jackson. Interment followed services at the Carlock Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Carlock Cemetery, c/o Mr. Mike Bays, 331 Ashley Road 462, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Mr. Marvin A. Rambo
Mr. Marvin A. Rambo, 79, of Hamburg died Saturday, December 30, 2000, at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. A native of Sparkman, a resident of Hamburg for the past five years and a 50-year former resident of El Dorado, he was a retired accountant having worked 27 years for Lion Oil until retiring in 1982. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamburg and a former member of the Parkview Baptist Church in El Dorado where he served as a deacon for many years and served in many other capacities. He was a former president of Abilities Unlimited in El Dorado and a member of MENSA. He was an U. S. Army veteran of World War II and was preceded in death by his father, Augustus Rambo and his mother, Etta Yarbrough Savage.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruby Ozment Rambo of Hamburg; a son, Joe B. Rambo and wife Lynn of Hamburg; a daughter, Linda Jean Rambo of Atlanta, GA; three sisters, Jean Ballering of Milwaukee, WI, Lena Mae Fink of Philadelphia, PA and Nora Reese of Austin, TX; four grandchildren, Joe B. Rambo, Jr., Amy Rosegrant and husband Scott, James Courtney Rambo and Jonathan Craig Rambo and wife Mandy; and two great-grandchildren, Hanna Rosegrant and William Grant Rambo.
Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 2, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Dr. Bobby Pennington and Rev. Klois Hargis officiating. Pallbearers were to be Joe, Courtney and Craig Rambo, Scott Rosegrant, Jay Johnston and Lynn Fite. Interment was planned for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Arlington Cemetery in El Dorado with Rev. Lawrence Harrison and Rev. Tommy Mellinger officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Christian Children's Fund, PO Box 1364, Jakarta, Indonesia 10013 or to the Parkview Baptist Church Daycare, 608 W. 8th, El Dorado, AR 71730.
Ben Colvin Rhodes
Ben Colvin Rhodes, 57, of Crossett, formerly of El Dorado died Wednesday, December 27, 2000. He was a mechanic with Georgia Pacific in Crossett.
Survivors include his mother, Celia Rhodes; two daughters, Darla Johnson and Alicia Jolene Rhodes; a sister, Carolyn Saulsbury; and six brothers, Charles, John, Mike, Bobby Jack, Don and Pat Rhodes.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 30, in the Young's Funeral Home chapel in El Dorado. Burial followed services at the Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Farmerville.
