William Jackson Douglas
Mr. William Jackson "Jack" Douglas of Brookhaven, MS, died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. A native of Dermott and a resident of Brookhaven, MS, for the past fourteen years, he was a retired Wal-Mart truck driver, a member of the Easthaven Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thad and Fedelia Stone Douglas, and a sister, Lillian Lee.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Edwards Douglas of Brookhaven, MS; two daughters, Jacky Prien and husband Paul of Dallas, TX, and Amy Greer and husband Chad of Picayune, MS; a brother, James Turner Douglas of Conway; two sisters, Virginia Douglas Teague of Dermott and Cloteene Augspurger of Orlando, FL; and two grandsons, Cody Douglas Greer and Cameron Thad Greer.
Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with the Rev. Charles Pullin, Rev. Thad Douglas, and Rev. Bendon Ginn officiating. Pallbearers were to be Dr. Jim Lee, Bill Lee, Chris and Barry Teague, Charlie and Tony Hopper. Interment will be in the Snyder Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Snyder Cemetery Association, c/o Mrs. Jane Graves, P. O. Box 264, Hamburg, AR 71646.

Mrs. Jessie O. Gee
Mrs. Jessie O. Gee, 86, of Crossett, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at the Beverly Health Care Center in Hamburg. A native of Ashley County; a resident of Crossett for the past 25 years and a former resident of Hamburg and the Mount Pleasant Community east of Hamburg for many years, she was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Crossett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter P. Gee in 1966, a son, Homer Gee in 1999, her parents, Homer & Margaret King Howie and two sisters.
She is survived by three daughters, Patsy Scranton of Hamburg; Mary Gee of Crossett and Sarah Richardson of Hamburg; a sister, Genie Brown of Jackson, MS; a daughter-in-law, Heidi Gee of Fayetteville, NC; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services are planned for 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 27, in the Fellowship Baptist Church in Snyder with Revs. Eugene Howie and. Charles Pullin & Dr. William Henry officiating. Grandsons will be pallbearers. Interment will be in the Snyder Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Lloyd Clifton Spratt
Lloyd Clifton "L. C." Spratt, 89, of Hamburg died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at the Ashley County Medical Center. A native of Ashley County, he was a retired timber worker and a member of the Bethel Temple Pentecostal Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha Spratt; a son, Charlie Spratt; his parents, Jim and Ida Spratt; two sisters, Nancy and Ida Spratt; and four brothers, Joe, Charlie and Ad Spratt and Lee Wade.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl Spratt; two stepsons, Vernon Hendrix of Markham, IL, and William T. Hendrix of Milwaukee, WI; a daughter, Ethel Mae White of Inkster, MI; a stepdaughter, Frankie Burnes of Markham, IL; four grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, in the Christ Temple Pentecostal Church with Eld. Alphonso Madden officiating. Pallbearers were Baron Johnson, Frank Coakley, John Wimberly, Orlando S. Jones I, Orlando S. Jones II and Curtis Graham. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Simmons and Jerome Madden. Burial followed services at the Montrose Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Joe Stuart
Joe Stuart, 83, of El Dorado died Thursday, June 21, 2001. Born January 13, 1918, in Memphis, TN, to Fannye and Joseph Stuart, Sr, he graduated from Central High School in Memphis and received a BA degree in psychology from Southwestern at Memphis, now Rhodes College. He served in World War II as a captain in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in England for three and a half years. He came to El Dorado with his wife, Janet, in August of 1946 and founded Stuart Typewriter Company, which evolved into Stuart's Inc., a regional office equipment dealership.
He was a member of the congregation Beth Israel and was instrumental in the building of the Jewish Temple on Camp Street. He served as president of the congregation. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and served on the board of the United Way, a member of Rotary and a recipient of two Paul Harris Awards. As a member of the Boy Scouts of America, he received the Silver Beaver Award in 1992 and served as a member of the board of directors.
He was president of the Office Machine Dealers Association of Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana and later served as president of the National Office Machine Dealers Association (NOMDA). He was a board member of SCORE, board member of RSVP, and active in the establishment of the El Dorado Racquet Club, also serving as president.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Pachter Stuart; a son, Richard Stuart, and wife Joni of Shreveport, LA.; a daughter, Janey Stuart Pillsbury, and husband Dr. Richard Pillsbury of El Dorado; five grandchildren, Kimberly, Richard and Megan Pillsbury and Rachel and Sarah Stuart; and a sister, Marie Newman of Memphis, Tenn.
Grave-side services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, at the Arlington
Cemetery in El Dorado, conducted by Young's Funeral Directors. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 2300 W. Main, El Dorado, Ark. 71730.
