on July 31, 1946, to Clarence and Lillian Bowers, he .was assistant superintendent for electrical and instrument support for Georgia-Pacific Corp. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Crossett and a member of the board of directors of the Prairie Country Club. His hobbies included wood-working and ham radio (KD5KQG). He was preceded in death by his father and a sister.
Survivors include his wife, Karen S. Bowers of Crossett; one son, John A. Bowers, of Crossett; one daughter, Georgiana L. Gochnauer of Crossett; his mother, Lillian Bowers of Clinton, Iowa; and two brothers, Tim Bowers, M.D., of Dubque, Iowa, and Danny Bowers of Clinton, Iowa.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 18, 2001, in St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are asked to be made to a fund for his daughter, Georgia Lee Gochnauer, c/o First National Bank, 218 Main St. of Crossett, Ark. 71635.
Rev. Claude H. Fudge
Rev. Claude H. Fudge, 91, of Crossett died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at the Ashley County Medical Center. Born April 8, 1910, to Robert Henry and Susie Anna Smith Fudge, he was a member of the Gates Chapel A. M. E. Church.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Norma Mae Fudge of Crossett; a stepson, Willie Charles Garnett of Dallas, TX; two stepdaughters, Bonnie Garnett of Dallas and Peggy Jean Garnett of El Dorado; two cousins, Mrs. Ova Lee Evans of Monroe, LA, and Madora Hall of Fresno, CA; five sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and many friends.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, in the Gates Chapel A. M. E. Church with Rev. Tyrone Broomfield officiating. Pallbearers were Bruce Warren, Eugene Streeter, Thomas Lowe, Sr., Columbus Foster, Jesse Lowe and Willie Ed Griffin. Honorary pallbearers were the stewards and trustees of the church, usher service and the usher federation. Burial followed services at the Beekman Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Rose Mazzanti Kellerman McEwen
Rose Mazzanti Kellerman McEwen, 81, of Jacksonville, FL, died Monday, June 11, 2001, at St. Vincent Hospital in Jacksonville. Born February 14, 1920, in Lake Village to the late Enrico and Maria Mazzanti, she was a homemaker and a Catholic. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Victor Mazzanti.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Wolfbrandt of Lake Elsinore, CA, and Debbie Street of Middleburg, FL; eight brothers, Ned, Al, Fiore, Joe and Henry Mazzanti of Lake Village, Gene Mazzanti of Little Rock, Frank Mazzanti of Crossett and Paul Mazzanti of Memphis, TN; two sisters, Gloria Morara and Catherine Talbot of Lake Village; and two grandchildren.
A Rosary was said at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, in the Bishop Funeral Home chapel in Lake Village. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11:30 a.m Thursday, June 14, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Village with Father Richard Somers as celebrant. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Ouida Lavon Upshaw Moore
Ouida Lavon Upshaw Moore, 75, of Spanish Fort, AL, died Monday night, June 11, 2001, at 10:30 p.m. in Mobile, Alabama. Born October 19, 1925, in Ashley County, she was the only child of Scottie May Brockwell Upshaw and Grady Henry Upshaw. Left without her mother when she was taken by death at a young age, she was dearly loved and cared for by her aunt and uncle, Opal and Harry Noble, Sr. A genealogical researcher, she served as regent of the Mobile chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and as regent of the DAR's Richards House Mansion in historic Mobile.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Moore; her daughter Wanda Joyce and husband Ned Healy of Port Clear, AL; three sons Michael Sr., and wife Sue Ellen Moore of Wilmer, AL, Scotty Ray and wife Vickie Moore of Silver Hill, AL, and Danny Joe and wife Mary Moore of Baton Rouge, LA, as well as 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and cousins and other relatives.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 14, in the Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home chapel. She was buried by her grandson in their family plot in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
