Ezra Lafae Divine
Ezra Lafae Divine, 67, of Dermott died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at the McGehee-Desha County Hospital. A retired transportation supervisor for the state, he was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Westside Baptist Church in Dermott. He was born September 25, 1933, in Eudora to the late James Monroe and Vonnie Mae Rucker Divine.
Survivors include his wife, Fannie Jane Divine of Dermott; two sons, James Divine of Dermott and Dan Divine of McGehee; two daughters, Sandra Whitten of Memphis, TN, and Debra Divine of Dermott; three brothers, Roy Divine of Leland, MS, Everett Divine of Pensacola, FL, and Paul Divine of St. Louis, MO; three sisters, Flora Breedlove of Montrose, Dot Rea of Pensacola, FL, and Lena Burnum of Winona, MS, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, in the Northside Baptist Church in Eudora with Rev. Monta Kellebrew officiating. Burial followed services at the Mount Carmel Cemetery, directed by Bishop Funeral Home of Lake Village.
Helen Titus Erwin
Helen Titus Erwin, 100, of Crossett died Friday, June 8, 2001. She was born April 21, 1901, in Lawson, MO, to James Frank and Alice Bethel Titus. In 1905, the family moved to Hamburg. She marriage Ashley Crossett Erwin and moved to Crossett in 1936. A member of the First United Methodist Church of Crossett, she was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and a sister.
Survivors include two sisters, Louise Gettle of Stuttgart and Ruth Ingram of Pine Bluff; a brother-in-law, Silas D. Snow of North Little Rock; three nieces and seven nephews.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10, in the First United Methodist Church of Crossett with Rev. Bill Williams officiating. Pallbearers were Scott and Todd Cooper, Bobby Titus, Billy Jack Ragland, Tom Pat Cook, Frank Dolan, Steve, Lane, Bill and John Titus, Silas Snow, Jr., and Ben Posey.
Burial followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
John Stanley Foy, Jr.
John Stanley Foy, Jr., 85, of Crossett died Monday, June 4, 2001, at his home. Born November 26, 1915, to John Stanley and Eliza Foy, he was a Georgia-Pacific employee and a deacon of the First Freewill Baptist Church. A dedicated family man, he loved to travel. He was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Foy III.
Survivors include his wife, Lobelia Foy of Crossett; four sons, Harold Bonnette of Crossett, Jimmy Bonnette of Farmerville, LA, and Dan Bonnette and Joe Foy of Benton; three daughters, Audrey Buckley of Nashville, TN, Jean Waldie of Shreveport, LA, and Ann Hare of Benton; a sister, Mary Lou Greene of Memphis, TN; 27 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and twelve great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, at the First Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. John Reed and Blane Beck officiating. Pallbearers were Glynn Willis, Andrew Wallace, Herman Johnson, Joey Johnson, Stormy Braswell, Bruen Craig, and Johnny Bolin. Honorary pallbearers were Austin Rodgers, Royce Oden and J. W. Boseman. Burial followed services at the Lone Sassafras Cemetery with arrangements by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Mr. William A. "Bill" Hill
Mr. William A. "Bill" Hill, 66, of Hamburg died Monday, June 4, 2001, at the Cumberland Lake Hospital in Cumberland, WI. A native of Hamburg; a resident of Turtle Lake WI since 1979, a former resident of Bradenton, FL, he was a retired federal park ranger; an U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norwood & Carrie Courson Hill, and a nephew, Phill Laskey.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Eid Hill of Turtle Lake, WI; a daughter, Karen Hill Bruckner and husband Tony of Clinton; two stepsons, Rodney & Keith Eid of Wisconsin; a step-daughter, Charlene Kasper of Wisconsin; two sisters, Linda K. Harville and Winda F. Laskey of Hamburg; two grandchildren; two nieces, Vickie Pennington & Dee Dee Smith and a nephew, Russell Harville.
Memorial services were at 10 a.m., Friday, June 8, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Rev. Klois Hargis officiating. Memorials may be made to the Hamburg Rescue Unit, c/o Mrs. Doris Huffman, VA Officer, Ashley County Courthouse Annex, Hamburg, AR 71646.
