Mrs. Gladys Burgess Blackwell
Mrs. Gladys Burgess Blackwell, 91, of Hamburg died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at the Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop, LA. A native of Ashley County and a life long resident of Hamburg. She was a homemaker and a member of the Gardner Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herman Burgess and Jack Blackwell; two daughters, Sadie Maxwell and Betty Ruth Adams; a son, William Burgess; her parents, Henry & Anna Bell Hill, four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by a son, Edward Burgess of Bastrop, LA; two daughters, Margaret Huffstetler of Mena and Jessie Mae Boykin of Hamburg; three step-sons, Charles Blackwell of Monroe, LA, Buddy Blackwell of San Antonio, Texas and James Blackwell of Bastrop, LA; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 3, in the Gardner Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Pullin officiating. Pallbearers were Emmitt & Travis Wallace, Dennis Byrd, Howard Foster, Roger Brantley and Clarence Lindsey. Interment followed services at the Promise Land Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Gardner Baptist Church , PO Box 506, Hamburg, AR 71646.

Mr. A. D. Farmer
Mr. A. D. Farmer, 63, of Hamburg died Wednesday, May 30, 2001 at the Hamburg Clinic. Mr. Farmer was a native of and was raised in Crossett. He was a resident of Hamburg for the past 50 years and a car salesman for Murphy Ford for 10 years. He worked for the Ashley Life Insurance Company for many years. A member of the Gardner Baptist Church, he was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel & Larcie Fleming Farmer; two brothers, Aubrey & Alfred B. Farmer and two sisters, June Witcher and Merle Doss.
He is survived by his wife, Velma Bennett Farmer of Hamburg; a son, Rodney Farmer and wife Rebecca of Budapest, Hungary; three sisters, Lila Woods & Ethel Allison of Hamburg and Tina Roberts of Crossett and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 2, in the Gardner Baptist Church with Revs. Charles Pullin & Rev. Klois Hargis officiating. Pallbearers were Jimmy Murphy, Jim Barker, Mike Morris, Royce Curry, James Robinson and Hunter Buatt. Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Murphree, Mike Ogden, Danny Kelley, Ted Richardson, John H. & Robert Maxwell, Carroll Womack, Carl J. Bierbaum, Johnny M. Nolan and John Hunter Buatt. Interment followed servcies at the Cleveland Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Gardner Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 506, Hamburg, AR 71646

Mr. James H. Franklin
Mr. James H. Franklin, 91, of Wilmot, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at the Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop, LA. A native and lifelong resident of Wilmot, he was a retired farmer and cattleman, an U. S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Gaines Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed & Olga Crawley Franklin; three brothers, Alvin, Otis & Leslie Franklin; and two sisters, Esther Franklin and Beuna Mae Barton.
He is survived by a niece, Renee Gourley of Wilmot; a nephew, Robert Franklin of Bastrop, LA and several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Friday, June 1, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Rev. Cecil Harvey officiating. Pallbearers were Justin Gourley, Christopher Garnder, Ronald Pollock, Jerry & Jeremiah Sims, Robert O'Neal, Michael Gourley and Trey Franklin. Honorary pallbearers were Lenwood Williamson, Ruben "Bud" Smith, Richard & Billy Smith, and Jack & Tom McManus. Interment followed services at the Bell Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Bell Cemetery, c/o Mr. Jack McManus, PO Box 114, Parkdale, AR 71661.

Mary C. McNeal
Mary C. McNeal, 68, of Crossett died Friday, June 1, 2001. Born November 15, 1932, in Pine Hill to William and Viola Hampton Carlock, she was a member of the Greater Jericho Full Gospel Baptist Church in Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd McNeal.
Survivors include a son, Luke Jones of Houston, TX; a daughter, Belinda Dawkins of Crossett; a brother, Otis Carlock; two sisters, Corine Henderson and Addie Williams, all of Crossett; one stepson, Wallace McNeal; three stepdaughters, Leowine McNeal, Bonnie McNeal and Allace Hardley, all of Grand Rapids, MI; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, 12 step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, in the New Bethel Baptist Church.
Burial was to follow services at the Carlock Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
