Lebirda Dawson
Lebirda Dawson, 64, of Montrose died Saturday, April 20, 2001, at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. A native of Rosston, but a Montrose resident for the past 54 years, she was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter Baptist Church in Montrose. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sinthe Mae Dawson; her parents, Walter and Sinthe Ervin Brewer; two brothers, Rollins Dawson and Lushen Mitchell; and a sister, Jereline Brewer.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Lee Dawson; a son, Raymond and wife Linda Dawson of Montrose; a brother, Roy Brewer of Hamburg; five sisters, Velma Brewer of Oakland, CA, Bessie Hudson of Milwaukee, WI, and Abbie Clark, Ollie Matheney and Earlene Sabbage, all of Montrose; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, in the New Light Baptist Church in Portland with Rev. Eugene Mitchell officiating. Pallbearers were Charlie Kennedy, Larry Wood, Larry Spratt, Earl Gillis, Willie Williams, Jr., and James Polite.
Burial followed services at the St. Peter Cemetery, with arrangements by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.

W. Z. "Dub" Spencer
Mr. W. Z. "Dub" Spencer, 82, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at his residence in Hamburg. A native of Winchester and a resident of Hamburg for most of his life, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1995, and he also retired from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission as a game and fish enforcement officer in 1983 after 22 years of service. He was an U. S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamburg. He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Spencer; a great-grandson, Zachary Charles Spencer; his parents, Roger Spencer & Bertha Bierbaum Horak; two brothers, Charles and Joy Spencer; a sister, Kate Venters; a half-sister, Gladys Horak and a step-granddaughter, Ashley Vogt.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie Rice Spencer of Hamburg; a son, Zack Spencer and wife Sarah of Farmerville, LA; three grandsons, Scott Spencer of Fort Smith, Michael Spencer of Stonewall, LA and Sean Spencer of Fayetteville; two great-grandchildren, Carrie & Shelly Spencer; three stepdaughters, Pat Glosup and husband David of McGehee, Pam Tarver and husband Joe of Winnsboro, LA, and Kathy Earney and husband Frank of Conway; a stepson, Terry Knight and wife Lisa of Alexander City, AL; nine step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Monday, April 30, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Revs. Klois Hargis & Charles Pullin officiating. Pallbearers were Scott, Michael & Sean Spencer, James Michael Vogt, Teddy Hickman & Scott Reed. Honorary pallbearers were Todd Callaway, Pat Fitts, Nick Childers & Joe Hairston. Interment followed services at the Hamburg Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital, PO Box 2222, Little Rock, AR 72203.

Fran Stevens
Fran Stevens, 42, of Hamburg died Friday, April 27, 2001, in the North Monroe Hospital in Monroe, LA. A native of Ashley County, she was employed by Bemis and was a member of the Rolfe Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Terence Lee Stevens; three sons, Brandon Lee, Eric Lance and T. Logan Stevens, all of Hamburg; her parents, Odell and Betty Stanley of Hamburg; two brothers, Wayman Stanley of Hamburg and Allen Stanley of Crossett; a sister, Rita Caine of Hamburg; and one grandchild.
Visitation was held Sunday, April 29, from noon until 6 p.m. in the chapel of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Donald Ray Wheeler
Donald Ray Wheeler, 41, of Crossett died Saturday, April 28, 2001, in Hermitage. Born September 15, 1959, in Miami, AZ, to Joe Fred and Mary Frances Williams Wheeler, he attended the Crossett Full Gospel Church. He was a member of the Crossett Covenant Riders and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arter Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Rolan Wheeler, all formerly of Warren.
Survivors include his parents, Joe Fred and Mary Frances "Fannie" Wheeler of Crossett; a son, Donald Brian Wheeler of Harrison; a daughter, Anastacia Rose Wheeler of Portland, TN; four brothers, Ronnie and Paul Wheeler of Crossett, Ken Wheeler of Conway and Randy Wheeler of Burnet, TX; and a sister, Beverly Ellis of Fountain Hill.
Funeral services were planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, in the Magnolia Baptist Church with Bros. David Wheless and Gene Thomas officiating. Pallbearers were to be Crossett Covenant Riders Terry Lochala, Ken Turner, Jamie Watkins, Carl Stahley, Donald Wheeler, Frankie Weaver, Cary Wyatt, John Jackson and David Wheless. Honorary pallbearers were to be Don Holland and other members of the Crossett Covenant Riders.
Burial was to follow services at the Arkadelphia Cemetery, with arrangements by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
