Mr. Roger D. Johnson
Mr. Roger D. Johnson, 48, of Crossett, died Thursday, April 19, 2001, at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. A native of Bakersfield, CA; a resident of Crossett for the past eight years and a former resident of Merced & Atwater, CA, he attended the Cloverdale Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Larry Eugene Johnson on April 16, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Marie McCracken Johnson of Crossett; two sons, Mack A. Montgomery, III of Merced, CA, and Joshua David Johnson of Crossett; two daughters, Tonya Lynn Pennebaker of Visalia, CA, and Christy Fay Johnson of Simi Valley, CA; his mother, Elaine Anders Johnson; two brothers, Danny & Wayne Johnson of Crossett; and two sisters, Judy Crouch of Hamburg and Diane Riordan of Crossett; and one granddaughter, April Michelle Johnson.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 22, in the Cloverdale Assembly of God with Rev. Norman Riordan and Bro. Keith Curran officiating. Pallbearers were Joshua Johnson, Mack Montgomery III, Shawn King, Tom Chenowith, Clifford Moore and Aaron Frisby. Honorary pallbearers were Mike & Billy Haen and Lee Riordan. Interment followed services at the Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Cloverdale Assembly of God, 376 Ashley Road 15, Crossett, AR 71635.
Irma Lee Kazee
Mrs. Irma Lee Kazee, 88, of Hamburg died Monday, April 16, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare of Hamburg. Mrs. Kazee was a native of Montrose, but a resident of Hamburg for the past year. A homemaker and a member of Soldiers Chapel A. M. E. Church, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Kazee; a son, Columbus Kazee; her parents, William and Henrietta Gober Ridgell; and one brother, C.L. Ridgell.
She is survived by four sons, Robert Kazee of St. Louis, MO, Frank Kazee of Mt. Clemens, MI, Samuel Kazee of Lake Village, and James Kazee of Montrose; seven daughters, Carrie Mixon of Los Angeles, CA, Willie Mae Richardson, Leola Bealer and Shirley Moore, all of St. Louis, MO, Linda Benton, Patsy Kazee and Mary Kazee of Milwaukee, WI; one sister, Ota Mae Battey of Mt. Clemens, MI; 32 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 21, at 11:00 a.m. at Soldiers Chapel A. M. E. with the Rev. Columbus Wilder officiating. Her grandsons were the pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the trustees of Soldiers Chapel AME. Interment was in the Montrose cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Teresa Marie Lucas
Teresa Marie Lucas, 27, of Hamburg died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at the University Medical Center in Little Rock. She was a waitress and a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Lake Village.
Survivors include a son, Christopher Lucas of Hamburg; a daughter, Kristina Lucas of Hamburg; her mother and stepfather, Beverly and Frank Rosio of Lake Village; a brother, Frank Rosio, Jr., of Gulfport, MS; a sister, Celeste Rosio of Lake Village; and her grandparents, Pearl King of Sangerville, Maine, and the late Gene King and Frank and Carolyn Rosio of West Fork.
Grave-side services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the Oak Grove Cemetery with Revs. Ronnie Garrett and John Edwards officiating. Arrangements were by Bishop Funeral Home of Lake Village.
Verdell Stephenson McGough
Verdell Stephenson McGough, 83, of Crossett, died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at the Bastrop Rehabilitation Hospital. Born November 5, 1917, to William Matthew and Sarah Lena Carnes Stephenson, Mrs. McGough was a member of Meridian Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry McGough; one son, Jesse C. McGough; and one grandson, Jayden McGough.
Survivors include one son, James Lloyd McGough of Houston, TX; one daughter, Hazel Jones of Crossett; one brother, Floyd Stephenson of Lawton, OK; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 23, at Meridian Baptist Church with Bro. Dale Webb officiating. Burial followed services at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mitchell Pearson, Daniel Pearson, Dewayne Hudson, Robert Neel, Billy Rice, and Harlon Meshell. Services were under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
