Mrs. Grace Shurtleff Stone
Mrs. Grace Shurtleff Stone, 76, of Hamburg died Friday, April 20, 2001, at the Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. A native of Ashley County, a resident of Hamburg for the past 15 years and a former resident of Monticello, she retired from the Monticello post office in 1966. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hamburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas V. B. Stone in August, 2000; her parents, Walter and Ardell Young Shurtleff; a brother, Norman Shurtleff; and a sister Ozell Poole.
Survivors include a son, Robert Stone and wife Fran of Crossett; a daughter, Joyce Hussey and husband J. C. of Berryville; four sisters, Mildred Johnson and Bobbie Roberts of Little Rock, Billie Sheppard of Alexandria, and Alice Grider of Crossett; three grandchildren, Robert Stone and wife Susan of Crossett; Robinan Gentry and husband Derrick of Monroe, LA, and James R. Shell and wife Donna of Manassas, VA; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, April 23, in the First Baptist Church of Hamburg with Dr. Bobby Pennington and Rev. Klois Hargis officiating. Pallbearers were Billy Jack Ragland, Ronnie LaGrone, Tommy Hollis, Donald Wayne, Bob Rush and Freddie Martin. Burial followed services at the Hamburg Cemetery with arrangements by Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Gideons International, P. O. Box 83, Crossett, AR 71635 or to the Mount Olive Cemetery Association, c/o Linda Shiver, 215 James Stone Road, Hamburg, AR 71646.

Norma Jean White
Norma Jean White, 62, of Crossett, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at the Ashley County Medical Center. Born September 3, 1938 to Norman and Merle Mae Woods Hester, Mrs. White was a registered nurse and a member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda White, and her mother, Merle Hester.
Survivors include her husband, Reggie White; one son, Gary White and wife Stacey; one daughter, Wendy Allen, and her father, Norman Hester, all of Crossett; one brother, John Robert Hester, and one sister, Joyce Keathley, both of Little Rock; and three grandchildren, Tabitha Freeman, Mitchell White and Karen Howell.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Roy Craig and Farrell Breshears officiating. Pallbearers were Danny Kirkland, Martin Tharpe, Randy Mitchell, Harold Bonnette, Jerry Stell, and Jason Freeman. Interment was at the Crossroads
Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

Mrs. E. Hazel King
Mrs. E. Hazel King, 82, of Hamburg died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at the Beverly Health Care Center in Hamburg. A native and lifelong resident of Hamburg, she worked at the Sterling Department Store as a sales clerk for many years and was a member of the Gardner Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Griffin King; a son, Charles G. King; two daughters, Betty Sue and Nila Janell King; her parents, Preston and Mallie Howell Bonds; three brothers, William, Gilbert and Preston Bonds; and two sisters, Virginia Price and Lila Mae Goodwin.
Survivors include a son, Billy Glen King and wife Patricia of Crossett; two daughters, Janice Sivils of Crossett and Linda Kinnaird and husband Calvin of Hamburg; two brothers, Travis Bonds of Morrilton and Bobby Bonds of Texarkana; two sisters, Doris Clark of Crossett and Nina Cummings of Haynesville, LA; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, in the Gardner Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Pullin officiating. Pallbearers were Jeff Kinnaird, Joe Sivils, Bill Bonds, Frankie Williams, Lane Culp, Phil Clark, Richard Shelton and Charlie Preston Price. Burial followed services at the Eden Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Eden Cemetery Association, c/o Mr. Jerry Stanley, 4028 Highway 133, Hamburg, AR 71646.

Sonwello Delwayne Lewis
Mr. Sonwello Delwayne Lewis, 24, of Crossett, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, in Crossett. A was a lifelong resident of Crossett, a construction worker, and a member of Davis Memorial Church of God in Christ, he was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Ann Parker, on February 12, 2001, and his father, Sonny Lewis.
He is survived by two sons, Sonwello Lewis Jr. and Detarius S. Lewis; one brother, Sonny Lewis Jr.; one sister, Latekia (Timothy) Moses; his grandparents, George and Ollie Mae Parker, all of Crossett; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were planned for Tuesday, April 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Davis Memorial Church of God in Christ with the Elder Roy Matheney Jr. officiating. Pallbearers were to be Dremus "Jodie" Howell, Patrick Thompson, Byron Jasper, Byron Davis, Reggie, Martin and Frederick Goree. Interment was follow services at the Westview Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
