Laurene Samantha Mays
Mrs. Laurene Samantha Mays, 80, of Hamburg, formerly of Crossett, died Monday, April 9, 2001, at the Beverly Healthcare of Hamburg. A resident of Ashley County since 1964, she was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jeffery Woodberry, her second husband, Shadrick Mays; one son, Freddie Woodberry; one daughter, Rose Maria Mays; one step-daughter, Nell Marie Mays; her parents, Lawrence and Mitte Cross Blake; two brothers, Willie and Samuel Blake; and two sisters, Roberta Washington and Mae Ella McClain.
She is survived by two sons, Jeffery Woodberry of Crossett and J.C. Woodberry of San Antonio, TX, one step-son, Shadrick Mays Jr. of Los Angeles, CA; six daughters, Flora Lawrence Smith of Dallas, TX, Doris Russell of Atlanta, GA, Evelyn Michael Johnson of Grand Prairie, TX, Elaine Mays of Oahu, Hawaii, and Ardelia Mays and Dattie Curry of Crossett.; two brothers, Nathaniel Blake of Crossett and Clarence Blake of Hope; three sisters, Beatrice Newsome of Arkadelphia, Helen Bailey of Hamburg, and Pearl Hubbard of Colleen, TX; three sisters-in-law, Almetha Blake of Crossett, Ardelia Daniel of San Francisco, CA, and Lou Woodberry of Gurdon; 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 14, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Green Baptist with the Rev. Byron Bess officiating. Pallbearers were Ricky Smith, Jeffery Woodberry Jr., Michael Smith, Robert Lewis, Khelyn Johnson and Charles Woodberry. Honorary pallbearers were the Ashley County Dialysis Center. Interment was in the Westview Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Mrs. Lorene McCauley
Mrs. Lorene McCauley, 90, of Lake Village, died Sunday, April 15, 2001. at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. A native of Leake County, MS, and a resident of Lake Village for the past 40 years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Lakeport Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis McCauley in 1959; her parents, Ishom and Dora Jane Barrett Rucker; five sisters, Thelma Koler, Vonnie Devine, Arlie Smith, Edna Hollis, and Olla Cox and a brother, Chester Rucker.
She is survived by nine nieces; four nephews and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Grave-side funeral services and interment were at 3 p.m., Monday, April 16, at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Paul Keith officiating. Funeral arrangements were by Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.

James Coleman Turner
James Coleman Turner, 58, of Crossett died Tuesday, April 9, 2001. Born December 19, 1943, he was a former sales manager for Ideal True Value and enjoyed hunting, fishing and western collectibles.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Turner; a son, Michael Allen Turner, both of Crossett; two daughters, Kim Trichel of Fort Smith and Julie Misenheimer of Crossett; his parents, Drew and Edwina Turner of Crossett; a brother, Dennis Turner; two grandchildren, a niece and a nephew.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday, April 13, in the Presbyterian Church of Crossett with Rev. George Wortham officiating. Pallbearers were Holyan Outlay, Gary Booker, Richard Welch, Gerald Brown, Mack Laughlin and Bruce Turner.
Burial followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

DALE BROOKINGS
Dale Keith Brookings, 73, of McGehee, died Monday, July 9, 2018, at his home. He was born in El Paso, Texas, on May 26, 1945, to his parents, Milton and Melba Keith Brookings.
He was a 1964 graduate of Crossett High School and a member of the First Baptist Church of McGehee. His long career as an electrician and millwright included working for Georgia Pacific, International Paper, and Potlach, where he eventually retired at the age of 62.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one grandson, Haden Howell.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Camille Jenkins Brookings, of McGehee; two daughters, Carmen Brookings Sanders and husband, Mike, of Mobile, Ala., and Dana Withers and husband, Steve, of Crossett; one son, Lance Keith Brookings and fianceŽ, Jennifer, of Haughton, La.
Other survivors include three brothers, Don Brookings and wife, Ruth, and Stevie Brookings and wife, Penny, all of North Little Rock, and Ray Brookings and wife, Signe, of Bentonville; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service was 2 p.m. July 11 at the First Baptist Church of McGehee, with Pastor Ed Balducci officiating.
Services were entrusted to Medders Funeral Home of Crossett.
