Austin Dakota Smith
Austin Dakota Smith, three month old infant son of Allen Lamar Smith and Christie Ann Anderson of Lake Village, died Thursday, March 29, 2001. Other survivors are a sister, Destiny Smith of Lake Village; paternal grandmother Teresa Hayden of Monticello; paternal great-grandparents Cindy Booker of Monticello and Clois and Bessie Smith of Hermitage; maternal grandparents Judy and Randy Bussel of Lake Village; and paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Mattie Fuller of Portland.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 1, in the Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church with Bros. Phillip Payne and Billy Clark officiating. Burial followed at the Oak Grove Cemetery with arrangements by Bishop Funeral Home of Lake Village.
Juanita Cokley Wells
Juanita Cokley Wells, 72, of Jerome died Monday, March 26, 2001, at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village A retired store owner and member of the Jerome Baptist Church, she was born December 13, 1928, in Montrose to the late Elbert and Lura Pamplin Hawkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Cokley.
Survivors include a son, Ernie Cokley of Fanett, TX; a daughter, Beverly Cokley of Dermott; three grandchildren, Jennifer Hill, Jim Cokley and Lesli Cokley; and two great-grandsons, Max and James Hill.
Grave-side services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at the Dermott Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Selby officiating. Arrangements were by Bishop Funeral Home of Lake Village.
Mr. Henry Allen Allison
Mr. Henry Allen Allison, 78, of Hamburg died Wednesday, September 19, 2001, at his residence. Mr. Allison was a native of Ashley County and a resident of Fremont, CA for many years until moving back to Hamburg in 1978. He retired in 1976 from AC Transit Company in San Francisco after 30 years of service. A Baptist, he was the co-owner of Allison Auto Glass & Body in Hamburg. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maudie Ruth Waller Allison in 1974; infant twins, his parents, Mal & Johnie Dew Allison and a brother, Dude Allison.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn Goettling Allison of Hamburg; two sons, Shelby Ray Allison of San Francisco, CA, and Steven Allison of Hamburg; a daughter Sandra Ruth Johnson of Little Rock; two step-sons, Joseph Francis of Chico, CA, and Kenneth Francis of Collinsville, TX; a step-daughter, Coette Rogers of Hamburg; a brother, Vance Allison of Houston, TX; four sisters, Margie Cloade of Monticello; Jo Ann Moffatt of Hamburg; Dean Rankin of Mendenhall, MS and Rose Wilder of Redding, CA; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 22, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Allen Waldrup and Rev. Klois Hargis officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Ken Turner, Freddie Martin, Claude Riley, Jr., Clyde Gardner, Junior, Mark & Tony Moffatt and Steve Rogers. Memorials may be made to the Beech Creek Church Building Fund, c/o Mr. Roger Nutt, 1309 Chestnut Street, Crossett, AR 71635.
West Dillard
West Dillard, 81, of Little Rock, formerly of Parkdale, died Wednesday, September 19, 2001, at the Baptist Hospital in Little Rock. A native of Alabama and a member of the Union Baptist Church in Parkdale, he was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Louise Bankston, and a brother, Robert Dunning.
Survivors include his stepmother, Estelle Dunning of Bastrop, LA: five brothers, Lee Dillard and James Dunning of Little Rock, Gene Dillard of Alabama, Cloman Connely of Eudora and Ralph Dunning of Bastrop; four nieces, Melvin Stansfield, Pearline Robinson, Earnestine Bankston and Lillie Porter and husband O. J.; and four nephews, Willie Gulley, Jessie Henson, Fred Bankston and Kirk Bankston.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, September 24, in the Union Baptist Church with Rev. Jessie Knight officiating. Pallbearers were A. C. Campbell, Nathaniel Henson, James C. Brown, Jr., J. C. Brown, Sr., Carl Vaughn and Otis Anthony. Burial followed services at the Childress Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
