December 29, 1984, to Joe Upshaw and Jennifer Scott Stell in Monticello, he was a member of the West Crossett Missionary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jim Scott.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Jennifer and Glen Stell of Crossett; his father and stepmother, Joe and Danetta Upshaw of Buna, TX; his grandparents, Barbara Scott of Crossett, Shirley and C. B. Harriman of Hamburg and Johnny Upshaw of Heritage; his step-grandparents, Charles and Lynda Stell of Crossett; one sister, Emily Upshaw; and two stepsisters, Melanie and Kaylee Stell.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, in the West Crossett Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. John Marlar and Steve Franklin officiating. Pallbearers were Mike Griffith, Jerry Stell, Nick Upshaw, Ricky Martin, Jerry Watkins, Doyle Blankenship, Jr., Billy White and Chester Rosen. Honorary pallbearers were Jarrod Arnold, Blake White, Matthew Griffith, Anthony Clayton, Jeremy Martin, Josh Martin, Ian McClain, Charlie Morgan and Chris Musgrove.
Burial followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett. Memorials may be made to the Abiding Faith Christian School, 1552 Highway 52 West, Crossett, AR 71635.
Marie Wilburn
Marie Wilburn, 87, of Sulphur, LA, died Monday, August 27, 2001. She was the widow of David Richard Wilburn.
Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Sullivan of Arkansas; a granddaughter, Myra Bennett of Sulphur; a grandson, David Wilburn of Brooklyn, NY; a sister-in-law, Gwen Haddox of Washington state; and four great-grandchildren, Myra Sylvia Marie Bennett and Olivia Ruth Annette Bennett of Sulphur and Roy Dean Sullivan and Morgan Lamar Sullivan of Arkansas.
Grave-side services were at 2 p.m. Friday, August 31, at Pinewood Memorial Park with Rev. Bill Williams officiating. Arrangements were by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Fagen Armell Elton
Fagen Armell Elton, 72, of Crossett died Friday, August 24, 2001, at the Crossett Leisure Lodge nursing home. Born September 15, 192, in Line, Ark., to Green and Willie Holdcraft Elton, he was an U. S. Army veteran, a former Baptist minister, and a devoted husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Margaret Walser; one sister, Lela Holland, and a brother, W. T. Elton.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Elton of Crossett; one son, James E. Allen of Junction City; two brothers, Francis Elton of Little Rock and Bud Elton of Medford, OR; three sisters, Marie Gray of Hamburg, Flora Walker of Hot Springs and Daphine Martin of Camden; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, August 27, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home in Crossett with Bro. Bobby Bradford officiating. Pallbearers were Richard Holland, Glynn Allen, Dennis Holland, Tommy Boles, Brent Allen and Sammy Bolin. J. W. Sawyer was an honorary pallbearer. Burial followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park.
Lovie Louvinia Gibbs
Lovie Louvinia Gibbs, 84, of the Pine Hill community near Hamburg died Sunday, August 19, 2001, at her home. A lifelong resident of Pine Hill, she was a homemaker and a member of the Holly Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Gibbs; a son, Elvin Gibbs; a daughter, Elena Davis; her parents, Wheeler and Laura Benson Womack; and seven sisters.
Survivors include five sons, Linberg and wife Mabel Gibbs of Monticello, Billy and wife Junita, and Richard and Sherman Gibbs of Pine Hill and James Gibbs of Crossett; two daughters, Erma and husband Clifton Hawkins of Hamburg and Vickie and husband Michael Scott of Crossett; three brothers-in-law, Lester Gibbs of St. Louis, MO, Leonard Gibbs of Los Angeles, CA, and John B. Gibbs of Pine Hill; 43 grandchildren, 100 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 3:30 p.m. Friday, August 24, in the Holly Springs Baptist Church with Rev. David Bouie officiating. Pallbearers were Robert Baldwin, Cleazell Brown, Rance Haynes, Preston Hawkins, Earnest Green and Michael Williams. Honorary pallbearers were Linberg, Billy, Richard, James and Sherman Gibbs, Clifton Hawkins and Michael Scott. Burial followed services at the Pugh Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
