Eddie Webster Franklin
Eddie Webster Franklin, age 58, of Crossett, died Friday, July 20, 2001, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock as a result of an industrial accident at Georgia-Pacific. He was born on October 9, 1942, to Cody Turner and Maxine Birmingham Franklin in Magnolia. Mr. Franklin worked 37 years for Georgia-Pacific as a general mechanic. He was a Navy veteran for four years, having served on two aircraft carriers, the USS Lexington and the USS Saratoga. Mr. Franklin was a member of the First Baptist Church and loved baseball, softball and cars.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Mickey Franklin of Crossett; two daughters, Dianne White and husband Paul of Monroe, LA, and Laura Creach and husband Johnny of Crossett; one sister, Cody Jane Burchfield and husband Larry of Ashdown; two grandchildren, Chris and Kasey White of Monroe; his step-father, Jett Aubrey of Magnolia and a brother, Grady Mike Franklin of Texarkana; a niece, Jodi Burchfield; a nephew, Brad Burchfield; and two great-nieces, Abby and Aubrey Burchfield, all of Ashdown.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, at First Baptist Church with Bro. Roy Craig and Dr. William Henry officiating. Interment will follow at Bell Cemetery in Wilmot under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Honorary pallbearers will be the old utilities crew and all G.P. employees.

Garland Maurice Hankins, Ph.D.
Garland Maurice Hankins, Ph.D., 54, of Crossett died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at the Beverly Health Care of Crossett. He was a native of Crossett, a music educator, and a member of the Gates Chapel A. M. E. Church.
He was a 1964 honor graduate of T. W. Daniels High School and received a bachelor's degree in music from Tennessee A&I State University in Nashville. He received a master's and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Illinois at Champaign. A former principal of the East St. Louis High School and a former pianist for Gates Chapel A. M. E. Church, he was preceded in death by his father, Rozell Hawkins, in 1983.
Survivors include three daughters, Carmesia Rogers of Dallas, TX, and G'Ahynne & Kelli Hawkins of St. Louis; his mother, Reba Hawkins of Crossett; and one grandchild.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, in the Gates Chapel A. M. E. Church with Rev. Tyrone Broomfield officiating. Pallbearers were Odell Lawson, Eugene Streeter, C. T. Foster, Herman Newton, Tony Tatum and Curtis Boston, Jr.
Burial followed services at the Westview Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Marvin Edward Henslee
Marvin Edward Henslee, 60, died Friday, July 20, 2001, at his home in Hamburg. Mr. Henslee was a native of Ashley County, retired from G-P Plywood Mill, and a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Ann Barnett Henslee, and his father, L.C. Henslee.
He is survived by a companion, Violet Pickle of Hamburg; three sons, Marvin L.C. and Keith Edward Henslee of Hamburg and Marshall Wayne Henslee of Crossett; two step-sons, James Allen and Ricky Lemley of Crossett; one daughter, Barbara Lea White of Crossett; one step-daughter, Kathy Tucker of Hamburg; his mother, Willa Dean Henslee of Hamburg; one brother, Udell Henslee of Hamburg; two sisters, Mattie Cunningham of Hamburg and Linda Harris of Springfield; eleven grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, July 22, at 2:00 p.m. at Cromwell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lane Amos and Roy Craig officiating. Visitation was Sunday at 4:00 p.m. Pallbearers were Rufus McClain, Herb Parker, Dane Cunningham, Darrle Henslee, and Paul Sawyer. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Bolin, Nimrod Bolin and Rodney Pennington. Interment was in the Eden Cemetery.

Beulah L. Welch
Beulah L. Welch, 91, of Crossett died Thursday, July 19, 2001, in Shreveport, LA. Born November 12, 1909, to Homer G. and Clara C. Hixon Landers in Hermanville, LA, she was a homemaker, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. C. Welch; a son, David C. Welch; a daughter, Sue Welch Thomas; and three brothers, Jessie, Alvin and Carl Landers.
Survivors include five grandchildren, Scott and Ken Thomas of Shreveport, LA, Wendy Welch Kennedy of Tuscaloosa, AL, Celia Welch Morrison of Collierville, TN, and David C. Welch, Jr., of Opelika, AL; a sister, Virginia Parks of Homer, LA; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 22, in the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with Dr. William Henry officiating. Pallbearers were Tom Landers, Buddy Thomas, Scott McCormick, Richard Brown, Carl Morrison and Todd Kennedy.
Burial followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Crossett or to the Paul Sullins Library.
