Mrs. Bertie Blaine White
Mrs. Bertie Blaine White, 97, of Minden, LA, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at the Town and Country Nursing Center in Minden, LA. Mrs. White was a native of Ashley County, a resident of Minden since 1994 and a former resident of Pine Bluff, Crossett and Hamburg. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Pine Bluff. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jeff Blaine & Burl White; a son, Owen Blaine and two infant sons; a grandson, J. W. Holland; her parents, Robert & Fannie Hester Doss; six brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Marcelle Holland of Pine Bluff and Bobbie Chapman Fuller and husband Larry of Minden, LA; one grandson, Royce Blaine Chapman; three granddaughters, Patricia Holland, Janice Johns and Rhonda Chapman; three great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 24, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Rev. James Craine & Rev. Gerald Evans officiating. Pallbearers were to be Royce Chapman, Brandon Chapman, George Johns, R. B. Doss, Ralph Holland and Ralph Doss. Interment was to follow services at the Unity Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Unity Cemetery, c/o Mr. Ray Lochala, 190 Ray Lochala Road, Crossett, AR 71635.

Susie Mae Willis
Susie Mae Willis, 84, of Crossett died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at the Crossett Leisure Lodge. Born October 3, 1916, to Joseph M. and Annie Octavia Copeland Simpson Shirfield in Hamburg, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Magnolia Baptist Church of Crossett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin B. Willis, and a daughter, Edith Mae Craig.
Survivors include two sons, Marvin Wayne Willis of Crossett and Buford Joe Willis of Texarkana,; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, in the Magnolia Baptist Church. Pallbearers were to be John Rader, James Harris, Paul Burchfield, Keith Keen, Harold Bonnette and Ed White.
Burial was to follow services at Pinewood Memorial Park, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

Opal Mattie Barton
Opal Mattie Barton, 78, of Crossett, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at the Ashley County Medical Center. Born March 20, 1923, to William Tebie and Mary Myrtis Snell Moore, she was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cephas Barton, and a daughter, Pat Yancey.
Survivors include one son, Charles "C.C." Barton of Monroe, LA; one daughter, Charlene Martin of Crossett; two sisters, Willie Mae Reynolds of Bastrop, LA, and Claudia Wilkerson of Crossett; nine grandchildren, Keith Martin, Jamie Martin, Terry Martin, Kayla Minor, Shannon Williamson, Jeff Yancey, Dr. Charles Barton, Stacey Church, Cristie Barton; fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 13, 2001, in the North Crossett First Baptist Church with Robin Allen officiating. Pallbearers were Gerry Martin, Joey Williamson, Jeff Yancey, Dr. Charles Barton, Kim Minor, James Martin III, Caleb Martin and Darrell Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Robert Garcia, David Sapp, Steve Yancey, Mark Bishop, Gerald Williamson and Charles Reynolds. Interment followed at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

Mrs. Martha Herrington
Mrs. Martha Sivils Herrington, 85, of Hamburg,
died Monday, July 16, 2001. at the Mississippi Care Center in Greenville, MS. A native of Fountain Hill, a resident of Hamburg for the past 36 years and a former resident of Bastrop, LA, she was a retired dental assistant and a member of the North Main Baptist Church in Hamburg. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Louis W. Herrington in 1983 and John Elvin Sivils in 1950; her parents, Robert & Annie Wood Locke, three brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann Morse of Greenville, MS and Pam Herrington of Hot Springs; two sons, John Lee Sivils of Lineville, AL and Elvin Dan Sivlis of Ruston, LA; three step-sons, Louis Herrington of Hattiesburg, MS, Gerald Herrington of Meridian, MS and Glen Herrington of Pineville, LA; two stepdaughters, Lea Swan of Jacksonville and Joan Hebert of Monroe, LA; her twin sister, Marion Horton of Monticello; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Rev. Clyde Mitchell, Jr. officiating. Pallbearers were to be Ralph Doss, Doyle & Fred Sivils, Gerald & Mark Tomerlin and Billy Kelley. Interment will be in the Flat Creek Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the North Main Baptist Church, 1011 N. Main, Hamburg, AR 71646.
