Sam Phillips
Sam Phillips, 65, of Crossett died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at the Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. A native of Lacey and a resident of Crossett for 40 years, he was a retired Georgia-Pacific forestry worker. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Eveleaner Martin Phillips.
Survivors include two brothers, Kelly Phillips of Clarksdale, CA, and James Clemmon Phillips of Warren; two sisters, Margrie Franklin of Lacey and Annie Foster of Washington, D. C.
Funeral services were planned for 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, in the Cromwell Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Nolan Phillips officiating. Pallbearers were to be Ephram Franklin, Clemon Phillips, Roger Miller, Charlie Miller, Jordan Hendrix, Leslie Phillips and John McCoy.
Burial was to follow services at the Longview Cemetery.

Dorothy Lynell Savage
Dorothy Lynell Savage, 63, of Crossett died Tuesday, July 3, 1001, at the Ashley County Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Crossett, she was retired from the Georgia-Pacific paper mill and was a member of the Gates Chapel A. M. E. Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Helen Warren Simpson.
Survivors include her husband, Theodis Savage; a son, DeJuan Simpson of Crossett; two brothers, Donald Simpson of Chicago, IL, and William Simpson of Crossett; two sisters, Etta Joe Mackie of Richmond, CA, and Brenda Mumphrey-Smith of Oakland, CA.
Memorial services were at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, at the Gates Chapel A. M. E. Church with Rev. Tyrone Broomfield officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Gates Chapel A. M. E. Church, 405 North Missouri, Crossett, AR 71635 with contributions to go for new hymnals.

Nancy Lou Burleson
Nancy Lou Burleson, 69, of Crossett died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Beverly Health Care of Crossett. Born May 13, 1932, to the late Joseph Edward and Rosa Pearl Phiefer Burleson in Dent County, MO, she enjoyed reading and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rolla, MO.
Survivors include two sisters, Charlene Pierce of Crossett and Juanita Thomas of Williamson, GA; three nieces, one nephew and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, in the North Crossett First Baptist Church with Bro. Robin Allen officiating. Pallbearers were Kevin Martin, Kenneth Brown, Ronnie Rickman, Mike Derrick, Roy Thomas and J. D. Allen.
Burial followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

Philip J. Cecola, Sr.
Services for Philip J. Cecola, Sr. were at 10 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2000, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Officiating was Father Charles Glorioso. Interment followed in Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue, Shreveport, LA.
Mr. Cecola was born August 23, 1926, in Shreveport, LA, and died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at his residence. A member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, he was a lifelong resident of Shreveport, LA. He owned and operated several restaurants and clubs in the Shreveport area until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Josephine Cecola.
Survivors include his wife, Lurline Morman Cecola, formerly of Hamburg; a son, Philip J. Cecola Jr., both of Shreveport; a sister, Jeanne Cecola of Shreveport; a brother, Dr. Russell Cecola of Uncertain, TX; a step-son, Raymond Karnes of Shreveport; two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Dr. Thomas Cecola, Nicholas Cecola, Dr. Patrick Cecola, Richard Elston, Johnny Bonomo, and Raymond Karnes. Honorary pallbearer was D. John Condaro.
Memorials of Mass offerings may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or St. Pius Catholic Church.
