Leona DeLee Cope
Leona DeLee Cope, 86, of Crossett died Monday, December 17, 2001, at her home. Born August 18, 1915, in Crossett to Ervin A. and Mary Annie Carter Burnett, she loved the outdoors and working with her flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Monroe Cope; a sister, E. Beth Hodge; and a grandson, Brian Fleming.
Survivors include a son, Travis Cope of Hamburg; three daughters, Bonnie Farmer and Margaret Fleming of Crossett and Lynda Perdue of McRae; one brother, Don Burnett of Crossett; ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, in the Mount Olive Baptist church with Rawls Pierce officiating. Burial was to follow services at Pinewood Memorial Park, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Ernest Franklin Harper
Ernest Franklin Harper, 85, of Crossett died Monday, December 16, 2001, at the Leisure Lodge. Born June 14, 1916, in Wynne to T. G. and Willie Kate Parker Harper, he was an avid golfer and devoted family man. He was a former plant manager for the Ely and Walker Shirt Factory in Kennett, MO, a member of the E&W softball team and a member of the First Assembly of God in Crossett where he was a deacon and choir member.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Harper of Crossett; one son, Ernest F. Harper, Jr., of Columbus, MS; two daughters, Kay Duncan of Ft. Meyers, FL, and Jan Rice of Collierville, TN; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, in the First Assembly of God with Rev. Norman Riordan officiating. Burial was to follow services on Wednesday, December 19, at 2 p.m. at the Memorial Gardens in Kennett, MO. Arrangements were by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Mrs. Elizabeth Kitchens
Mrs. Elizabeth Kitchens, 96, of Hamburg died Sunday, December 16, 2001, at the Beverly Health Care Center in Hamburg. A native of Ashley County and a life long resident of Hamburg, she was a retired cafeteria worker for the Hastings School and a member of the Maplevale Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude L. Kitchens in 1995; a daughter, Hazel Kitchens Maxwell; her parents, Augustus & Mattie Perdue Johnson; three brothers, Gus, Robert & James Johnson, and a sister, Hazel Johnson.
She is survived by two sons, Rev. James Kitchens of Texarkana, AR, and Harold Kitchens of Hamburg; six grandchildren, Glenn Maxwell, Debbie Baker, Keith Maxwell, Diane Ginn, Terri Stevens & Mike Kitchens; 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, in the Maplevale Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. Sam Tamburo & Bryan Sellers officiating. Pallbearers were to be Jimmy, Aubrey & Buddy Johnson, Hilton Goodwin, Junior Oden & Thomas Deggs. Interment was to follow services at the Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Maplevale Missionary Baptist Church, c/o Mr. Jimmy Johnson, 187 Ashley Road 710, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Dorothy Mosiman Meyer
Dorothy Mosiman Meyer, 96, of Hot Springs Village died Tuesday, December 11, 2001, in the Good Samaritan Health Care Center. She was born January 25, 1905, in Fall City, Nebraska, to the late William and Clara Heiser Mosiman. She was a member of the Hamburg First United Methodist Church and a retired teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Brune O. Meyer, in 1985.
Survivors include a daughter; Donna Bradshaw of Hot Springs Village; three grandchildren, Ken Bradshaw of Monticello, Deedra Berkemeyer of Lake Village and Kirk Bradshaw of Hot Springs Village; and four great-grandchildren, Rebekah and Caitlyn Bradshaw and Bryce and Brent Berkemeyer.
The body was cremated. A grave-side memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 24, in the Pinewood Memorial Cemetery near Hamburg. Arrangements were by Cedarvale Funeral Home of Hot Springs Village and Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Memorials may be made to the Hamburg High School Honors Scholarship Fund, c/o Dorothy Higginbotham, 518 South Main, Hamburg, AR 71646.
