Biographical And Historical Memoirs of Pulaski, Jefferson, Lonoke, Faulkner, Grant, Saline, Perry, Garland And Hot Spring Counties, Arkansas

Mr. David R. Maxwell Mr. David R. Maxwell, 43, died Wednesday, November 28, 2001, at his residence in Hamburg. A lifelong resident of Hamburg and a 1977 graduate of Hamburg High School, he was an automobile salesman for Murphy Ford for the past 12 years and worked for Global Marine for eight years before that. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamburg and an avid golfer and outdoorsman. He and his very close friend, the late Stephen Murphy, were known for their guitar & fiddle playing, including playing for the Arkansas House of Representatives in Little Rock and spending the night at the Governor's Mansion with Governor David Pryor. He was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Scott Maxwell in 1954.
He is survived by his parents, John Henry & Betty Scott Maxwell of Hamburg; a sister, Sissy McRae and husband Craig of Monticello; three nieces, Meghan, Britney & Ashlen and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Friday, November 30, in the First Baptist Church in Hamburg with Dr. Bobby Pennington and Rev. Klois Hargis officiating.
Pallbearers were Ken Bradshaw, Jimmy Murphy, Mike Ogden, Jon Bierbaum, Danny Kelley & Willard Noble. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Givens, William Harbison, Jimbo Ralph, Dr. Charles Hicks, Boyd Kusturin, Jim Moss and the employees of Murphy Ford and Crossett Ford. Interment followed services at the Flat Creek Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 352, Hamburg, AR 71646.

Charles Edward Allen
Charles Edward Allen, 32, of Great Bend, KS, died Saturday, November 17, 2001, at the Central Kansas Medical Center. A native of Montrose, he was a supervisor at Great Bend Manufacturing and a member of the First Assembly of God in Great Bend. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Joe Matthews.
Survivors include his companion, Debra Grayson of Great Bend; four sons, Steven Allen, Christopher Allen, and Charles Grayson all of Great Bend and Marcus Allen of Pawnee Rock, KS; three daughters, Laquishia Grayson, Lakeisha Allen and Maisha Allen, all of Great Bend; his mother, Mrs. Annie B. Pitts of Montrose; five brothers, Herman Pitts of Great Bend, Joe Matthews of Montrose, Donnie McCone and Mark Fowler of Long Beach, CA, and Graylin James of Hutchinson, KS; and seven sisters, Felicia Matthews, Joyce McCone, Brenda McCone, Cynthia Matthews, Rose McCone and Phyllis McCone, all of Montrose, and Shirley Bethune of Pine Bluff.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 24, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Barnes officiating. Pallbearers were Will Henry Allen, Willie Hawkins, Teddy Hawkins, Jessie Mitchell, Jr., Leroy Bethune and Derrick Bethune. Burial followed services at the Montrose Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Herman Conley, Sr.
Herman Conley, Sr., 74, of Wilmot died Saturday, November 24, 2001, at his residence in Wilmot. A lifelong resident of Wilmot, he was a retired farmer, an U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of the Second Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gennie Mae Conley; his parents, Jesse and Alberta Moore Conley; his stepfather, Gill Moore; and one brother, George Moore.
Survivors include five sons, Jessie Conley and SSG Herman Conley, Jr., and wife Minnie, all of Little Rock, Edward and wife Gloria Conley and CW3 Andrew and wife Evittie Conley, all of Clarksville, TN, and Nelson Conley of St. Louis, MO; five daughters, Armello Conley, Betty Conley, Betty and husband Lonnie Barry, and Shelia and husband Jean Calvin, all of St. Louis, and Shirley and husband Hughie Sherrer of Milwaukee, WI; three brothers, Raymond Conley of Bastrop, LA, Coleman Conley of Eudora and Ed Conley of Pasadena, CA; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, November 30, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. L. M. Christian officiating. Pallbearers will be the deacons and trustees of the church. Burial will follow services at the Second Baptist Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Ruby B. Conley
Ruby B. Conley, 71, of Wilmot died at her residence in Wilmot on Saturday, November 24, 2001. A native of Bonita, LA, but a Wilmot resident of Wilmot for the past 35 years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Second Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Conley, Sr.; her parents, Charlie and Rosie Callion Morris; three sisters, Merdis Stokes, Marie Perry and Birdie B. Jackson; and one brother, Leroy Morris.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Smith and Lillie Morris, both of Wilmot; one brother, Robert T. Morris of Jones, LA; three sisters, Ruthie Montgomery of Wilmot and Melva Lee Turner and Lurie Jones of Oakland, CA; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, November 30, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. L. M. Christian officiating. Pallbearers will be the deacons and trustees of the church. Burial will follow services at the Second Baptist Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
