Biographical And Historical Memoirs of Pulaski, Jefferson, Lonoke, Faulkner, Grant, Saline, Perry, Garland And Hot Spring Counties, Arkansas
Mr. Donald Eugene Fleming Mr. Donald Eugene Fleming, 69, of Little Rock died Saturday, November 24, 2001, at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Little Rock. Born in Montrose on August 24, 1932, he was a former resident of Montrose and Hamburg and a resident of Little Rock for the past 30 years. He was an U. S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict. He attended college at Southeast Oklahoma State and Little Rock Junior College. He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in McAlester, Oklahoma, and a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the McAlester Masonic Lodge. He served as president and secretary of the St. Vincent's Toastmaster's Club District #43. He was a retired truck driver for JB Hunt, having retired in 1989. Active in local government affairs, he was preceded in death by his parents, Vardaman & Stella Tumlison Fleming; a brother, Terry Fleming; and a sister, Nancy Carolyn Blucker.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Martha Peterson Fleming of Little Rock; a brother, Fontaine Fleming of Bremerton, WA; a sister, Sandra Ford of Bremer, AL; and a host of nieces and nephews that he loved very much.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Monday, November 26, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Revs. Thad Douglas & Charles Pullin officiating. Pallbearers were O.B. Johnston, Dale Burnett, Edwin Fleming, Jeff Fleming, Bobby Peterson & Fred Peterson. Interment followed services at the Snyder Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Spina Bifida Association of Arkansas, PO Box 24663, Little Rock, AR 72221.
David Andrew Lambert
David Andrew Lambert, 46, of Lake Village died Saturday, November 24, 2001, at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland Wesley and Minnie Pauline Haynes Lambert, and a brother, Billy Wesley Lambert.
Survivors are a daughter, April Michell Tanksley of Crossett; three sisters, Carolyn Watt and Betty Martin of Lake Village and Polly Deal of Crossett; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, November 26, in the Union Grove Assembly of God at Hampton with Rev. Kenneth Watt officiating. Burial followed services at the Union Grove Cemetery, with arrangements by Bishop Funeral Home of Lake Village.
Marguerite Crandall Martin
Marguerite Crandall Martin, 89, formerly of Wilmot, died Saturday, November 24, 2001, in Dallas, Texas. She was born March 3, 1912, in Ratcliff to Dr. Matthew Crandall and Anna Belle Lambert Crandall. An Arkansas resident most of her life, she grew up in Wilmot and graduated in 1933 from Hendrix College. She taught elementary school in North Little Rock where she met and marriage Edward E. "Ted" Martin in 1936. She was a mother and homemaker. The family lived in Searcy, Batesville, Cleveland, Ohio, Fort Smith, North Little Rock, Blytheville, Fort Worth, Texas, Memphis, Tenn., Heber Springs and Little Rock before she moved to Dallas in 1996 to be near family. She learned to play the piano and organ at a young age and kept that love for music throughout her life, often playing at home or at church. She was active in the Methodist and Presbyterian churches. She was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter, Ann Puryear.
She is survived by her daughter Judy Christopher of Dallas, grandchildren Mary K Bridges of Korea, Martin Puryear of Redmond, Wash., Elizabeth Thies of Westminster, Colo., Scott Cain of Springdale, Mary Ann Pike of San Antonio; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the ALS Association. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas with the Rev. Don Pike officiating. Burial will be in Wilmot.
Rosie Lee Moore
Rosie Lee Moore, 79, of Hamburg died Monday, November 19, 2001, at the Beverly Health Care of Hamburg. A native of Urbana and a Hamburg resident for the past 30 years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Izella and Sallie Lowry Bradley.
Survivors include a brother, Thurman and wife L. V. Bradley of Hamburg.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, November 23, in the Mount Zion Baptist Church with Rev. W. R. Taylor officiating. Pallbearers were R. D. Morgan, Earl Jacob, Merlee Carter, Lonnie Walker, Lawrence Booker and Lawrence Tippie. Burial followed services at the Johnson Memorial Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
