Fairy Arnold
Fairy Arnold, 92, of Crossett died Tuesday, November 6, 2001, at the Oak Dale Nursing Facility. Born on Sept. 28, 1909, in Trafalgar, to Jim and Carrie Copeland Bawcom, Mrs. Arnold was a nurse's aide and a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.B. Arnold.
Survivors include one son, A.J. Arnold of Little Rock; three brothers, Elbert Bawcom of McGehee, Parker Bawcom of Bastrop, LA, and Burney Bawcom of Searcy; two sisters, Juanita Gammel of Crossett and Cumi King of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Mary Kay Ladner, Will Arnold, Randall Arnold; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, November 8, in the Church of Christ with Ed Sanders officiating. Pallbearers were Will and Randall Arnold, Billy, Lamar and Mark Gammel and H. J. Roberts. Interment followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

Mr. Macel D. Baker
Mr. Macel D. Baker, 72,
died Saturday, November 10, 2001, at his residence in Hamburg. A native of Fountain Hill and a Hamburg resident all of his life, he was a timber contractor for Georgia Pacific Corporation and a member of the Hamburg Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Earl & Rozell Noble Baker; a brother, W. Earl Baker; and two sisters, Myrtle Baker Helbing and Jeroline Baker Downey.
He is survived by his wife, Eloise Alldread Baker of Hamburg; a son, Mike Baker and wife Debbie of Hamburg; a daughter Sissy Meacham and husband Kirby of Monroe, AR; a brother, Ralph N. Baker of West Monroe, LA; two sisters, Bernice B. White of Fairfield Bay and Marianna B. Mears of Ruston, LA; five grandchildren, Candy Ogletree, Amber Evans, Angie Bowman, Bryan Baker and Joseph Meacham and three great-grandchildren, Allison Nicole Evans, Brett Macel Baker and Garrett Dean Ogletree.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Monday, November 12, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Rev. Joe Sponagule officiating. Pallbearers were Joseph Meacham, Chris Evans, Joey Bowman, Bryan Baker, Billy Mack McDonald, Oliver Griffin and Jon Bierbaum. Interment followed services at the Pinewood Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Hamburg Church of Christ, c/o Mrs. Betty Griffin, 409 E. Parker, Hamburg, AR 71646.

Miss Mary Ann Boyd
Miss Mary Ann Boyd, 46, of Little Rock, died Monday, November 5, 2001, at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. Miss Boyd was a native of and was raised in Fountain Hill and was a resident of Little Rock for the past 28 years. She graduated from the Fountain Hill High School in 1972. She formerly worked as a nurse at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. A member of the First Baptist Church in Fountain Hill, she was preceded in death by her parents, John & Monitte Johnson Boyd, and a sister, Carolyn Marie Boyd.
She is survived by two brothers, Steve Chupp of Stella, MO, and Robert Darr of Fountain Hill; four aunts, Doris Covey of Leachville, Mary Belle Johnson of Dexter, MO, Nyline Avitts of Fountain Hill and Mildred Brown of Rockwall, TX, and several nieces and nephews.
Grave-side funeral services and interment were at 2 p.m., Thursday, November 8, in the Flat Creek Cemetery in Fountain Hill with Revs. Gene Gregory and Bill Elton officiating. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Fountain Hill First Baptist Church, PO Box 265, Fountain Hill, AR 71642.

Clarice Pence Gray
Clarice Pence Gray, 89, of Texarkana, formerly of Magnolia, died Saturday, November 10, 2001, at the Christus St. Michael's Hospital in Texarkana, TX. Born January 20, 1912, in Sumner, IL, to the late Lawrence Jacob and Elie Schick Pence, who later owned the ice house in Hamburg, she graduated from Hamburg High School. She and her late husband, Artie Gray, founded Gray Steel Corp. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Magnolia and the Pilot Club.
Survivors include a daughter, June Gray and husband W. Kelvin Wyrick, Sr., of Texarkana; a sister, Eloise Pence and husband John Chandler of Dallas, GA; grandchildren Kristin and husband Daniel Jones of Houston, TX, W. Kelvin Wyrick, Jr., of Magnolia and Michael Wyrick of Alexandria, VA; nephews David and wife Christine Chandler of Dallas, GA, Bill and wife Jan Chandler of Acworth, GA, and Larry and wife Shirley Chandler of Marietta, GA: a niece, Laura and husband Jim Strickland of Atlanta, GA; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were planned for 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, in the First United Methodist Church of Magnolia with Dr. Bob Burnham officiating. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 320 West Main Street, Magnolia, AR 71753 or to the Artie and Clarice Gray Scholarship Fund, Southern Arkansas University, P. O. Box 9174, Magnolia, AR 71754.
