Earl A. Sherry
Earl A. Sherry, 96, of Springdale, Ark., died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, at Northwest Medical Center of Washington County in Springdale. He was born March 17, 1908, east of Springdale to Albert Sherry and Pearl Tillman Sherry.
He was a retail merchant for many years, owning stores in Springdale, Fayetteville, Cave Springs and Rogers, Ark. He was a retired Baptist minister, serving as a fill-in pastor for a number of churches in the area.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lena Shaver Sherry, in 1976; and nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Elsie Dove Sherry; a son and daughter-in-law, Max Sherry and Darla Sherry of Russellville, Ark.; a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis Lewis and Gene Lewis of Bella Vista, Ark.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at the Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale, with the family receiving friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3 at the First Baptist Church of Lowell, Ark., with the Rev. Gary Thomas.
Burial will be at the Friendship Cemetery in Springdale.
Pallbearers will be Craig Sherry, Ron Findley, David Mabry, Gerald Dove, Gary Dove and John Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Sherry, Joe Sherry and Larry Cooper.

Douglas A. Vaske
Douglas A. Vaske, 35, of Waverly, Neb., formerly of northwest Arkansas, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004. He was born Feb. 28, 1969, in Lincoln, Neb., to Keith Vaske and Peggy "P. J." Vaske.
He was a resident of northwest Arkansas for four years. He was an ICS manager for Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and owned Performance Illumiglo Motorcycle Products. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lincoln, Neb. He was an avid motorcyclist.
He was preceded in death by his father, Keith Vaske; and his father-in-law, Jay Leininger.
Survivors include his wife, Kimberly S. Vaske; a daughter, Hannah Lorraine Vaske of the home; a son, Austin Jay Vaske of the home; his mother, Peggy "P. J." Jacobs of Lincoln, Neb.; a brother and sister-in-law, Dennis Vaske and Kris Vaske of Lincoln; his mother-in-law, Glenda Leininger of Doniphan, Neb.; a sister-in-law, Kelly Stolzer of Firth, Neb.; five nieces and nephews, True Vaske, Spirit Vaske and Nation Vaske, all of Lincoln, and Dylan Stolzer and Brandon Stolzer, both of Firth; and an aunt, Patricia McLaughlin of Fullerton, Calif.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home of Lincoln, Neb., with the family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lincoln with the Rev. Lauren D. Ekdahl.
Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Lincoln.
Pallbearers will be Jason Day, Adam Ott, Matt Walker, Adam Benson, Rod Gibson, Bart Herrick, Trey Nelson and Mike Pitcock.

Preston B. Skaggs
Preston B. Skaggs, 76, of Fort Smith, Ark., died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, in Rogers, Ark. He was born Nov. 27, 1927, in Datto, Ark., to Walter Bradford Skaggs and Martha Bellah.
He marriage Lois Hogan on March 5, 1954, in Leesville, La. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1968 after 21 years of service. He was a veteran or World War II, the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War.
After retiring from the military he trained to be a bookkeeper and tax preparer.
He was a board member and a founder of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 467 and was the group’s treasurer. He was a former member of the Robert Jack Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Van Buren, Ark., and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lois; three daughters, Linda Skaggs and Monica Weyer, both of Rogers, and Helen Moore of Newton, Texas; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 8, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the National Cemetery in Fort Smith with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Waldo Fisher, Dub Shankle, Vernie Thornburg and members of his Sunday School class at Grand Avenue Baptist Church.

Richard "Rick" Nathan Polakowski
Richard "Rick" Nathan Polakowski, 58, of Rogers, Ark., died at his home Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004. He was born May 5, 1946, in Berlin, Wis., to Suzanne Joan Bednarek and Carl Edward Polakowski.

John J. Rugg
John J. Rugg, 41, of Rogers, Ark., died Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at his home. He was born Jan. 11, 1963, in Green Bay, Wis., to Edward Rugg and Myrna Lou Ridgeway Rugg.
He was a graduate of Rogers High School and served in the U.S. Army for four years. He was employed by Pratt and Whitney. He enjoyed fishing, camping and going on cruises.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Rugg of Rogers; his father, Edward Rugg of Rogers; his mother, Myrna Bressner of Wheatland, Mo.; a brother, Mike Rugg of Sand Springs, Okla.; his girlfriend, Debbie Robinson of Holiday Island; and four nephews and two nieces.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.
Graveside memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Ark.

Marvin Arthur Gahr
Marvin Arthur Gahr, 76, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at his home. He was born May 30, 1928, in rural Milbank, S. D., to Arthur Gahr and Auguste Herring Gahr.
He graduated from Milbank High School. He marriage Lorraine R. Ferber on Sept. 17, 1950, in Corona, S. D. After farming for a few years, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps, then earned a bachelor of science degree at South Dakota State University.
He was branch manager and director of the Farm Credit System for 30 years. He and his wife moved to Bella Vista in December 1995 from Lindstrom, Minn. He was a member of the Bella Vista Lutheran Church and the Men’s Golf Association and was a longtime member of various choir groups.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Otto Gahr.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine R. Gahr; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian Gahr and Debra Gahr of Fort Smith, Ark., and John Gahr and Rita Gahr of Eagan, Minn.; a daughter and sonin-law, Pamela Gahr Biladeau and Cory Biladeau of Roseville, Minn.; a foster daughter, Susan Mundt of Utica, Minn.; two sisters, Verna Rush and Reva Gahr, both of Lakewood, Calif.; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Rebecca, Samuel, Gregory and Eric; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel.
A second visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at the Bella Vista Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at the Bella Vista Lutheran Church with Pastor Ronald Pfluger.
