Harold D. Daniel

Harold D. Daniel, 63, of Wichita, Kan., died Saturday, March 19, 2005, in Wichita. He was born Dec. 6, 1941, in Habberton, Ark., to Irene Daniel.

He was a fleet manager for Hampel Oil Co. in Wichita.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Daniel; his mother, Irene Daniel of Leawood, Kan.; his stepmother, Uldine Clark of Springdale, Ark.; four sons, Ed Daniel of Rose Hill, Kan., Randy Daniel of Benton, Kan., Tracy Daniel of Augusta, Kan., and Kent Daniel of Pittsburg, Kan.; a daughter, Tisha Maydew of Benton, Kan.; four sisters, Mary Jarnagan of Bentonville, Ark., Carolyn Poplin of Elkins, Ark., Peggy Graham of Fayetteville, Ark., and Pat Geier of Leawood; and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at Moore’s Chapel of Fayetteville, Ark.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, at the Church at the Cross in Wichita, with arrangements by Cochran Mortuary of Wichita.

Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at the Baptist Ford Cemetery in Greenland, Ark., with arrangements by Moore’s Chapel of Fayetteville.

Pallbearers will be Ed Daniel, Randy Daniel, Tracy Daniel, Barry Maydew, Kent Daniel, Jimmy Poplin and Jay Jarnagan.

Memorials may be made to Abundant Life Tabernacle Sound Ministries, P. O. Box 848, Andover, KS 67002.

Velma B. Smith

Velma B. Smith, 90, of Fayetteville died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at the Butterfield Trail Village Health Care Center. She was born October 1, 1914, in LaRue, AR, the daughter of Henry E. and Lottie Allred Boydstun. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer C. Smith, in 1986, by three sisters and one brother. She is survived by her two sisters, Dot Watkins and husband, Rex, of Fayetteville and Ruby Matthew of Centerton.

She was a longtime employee of the University of Arkansas, where she was secretary to two presidents and two acting presidents. She was a graduate of the University of the Ozarks; a Presbyterian; a teacher of church school for many years; a former member of AAUW. She was active in many crafts and did volunteer work.

Following the death of her husband, she worked for 5 years in the Trust Department of Arvest Bank in Rogers.

She was a registrar at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, and worked as a special assistant in registrar offices at the University of Illinois, Chicago; University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg; University of Florida, Gainesville. She also worked for the Extension Service of Oklahoma State University, Ardmore, Oklahoma; and as secretary and office manager for a construction company, building a dam for the Corps of Engineers, Trinidad, Colorado.

She and her husband moved to Butterfield Trail Village in 1986 from Bella Vista, where they lived for 11 years.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at the Bland Cemetery in Bentonville, AR, with Rev. Robert Brennan officiating. Memorial services will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Butterfield Trail Convocation Room in Fayetteville.

Services will be under the direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Rogers.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Butterfield Trail Village Foundation Health Care for automatic beds, 1923 East Joyce Blvd., Fayetteville, AR 72703; or Washington Regional Hospice, 34 West Colt Square Drive, Suite 1, Fayetteville, AR 72703.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Ray T. Stennett Jr.

Ray T. Stennett Jr., 67, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at his home. He was born Feb. 12, 1938, in Louisville, Miss., to Ray Stennett Sr. and Lorene Clements Stennett.

He received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Southern Mississippi. He was an engineer with Emerson Electric for 32 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rogers. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and hiking.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Janet Stennett; a son and daughter-in-law, Ray "Trip" Stennett III and Heather Stennett of Louisville, Ky.; a daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany Stennett Holloway and Neil Holloway of Dothan, Ala.; two sisters, Mary Nell Armstrong of Germantown, Tenn., and Linda Price of Iuka, Miss; and a grandson, Landon Holloway.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers, Ark.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at the First Baptist Church of Rogers with Dr. Wes George and the Rev. Tommy Hinson. Burial will be at the Sunrise Cemetery in Carthage, Miss. Pallbearers will be Mike Young, Buddy Dyer, Clyde Tempel, Ted Givens, Bob Grelle and Rusty Price. Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult IV Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Rogers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Rogers Building Fund.

William M. Moore

William M. Moore, 80, of Bentonville, Ark., died Friday, March 4, 2005, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers, Ark. Arrangements are pending with Callison-Lough Funeral Service of Rogers.

Irene A. Porter Green

Irene A. Porter Green, 77, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Friday, March 4, 2005, at Quail Ridge Living Center in West Siloam Springs, Okla. She was born Jan. 10, 1928, in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada, to George Stanley Porter and Gabrielle Mary Dumont Porter.

She was a Canadian citizen and immigrated to the United States in July 1957.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Carol Morrison of Siloam Springs; a grandson, Beau Ryan Hesson of Siloam Springs; three sisters, Lillian Rushfeldt of St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, Vivian Swarbricke of Lacombe, Alberta, and Dorothy Heald of Clive, Alberta; and a brother, Robert Porter of Drumheller, Alberta.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, March 7, at Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, at the Wasson Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tim Sallee.

Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs.

George David Davis

George David Davis, 74, of Springfield, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at Elfindale Manor in Springfield. He was born Dec. 8, 1930, in Bentonville, Ark., to Alfred Davis and Eula Davis.

After graduating from Bentonville High School in 1950, his Guard unit was called to serve in the Korean War. Upon discharge in 1952, he attended the University of Arkansas, where he received a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. He marriage Anna Sue Wicker of Magnolia, Ark., in 1954.

He was a research chemist for the Monsanto Co. in St. Louis, Mo., for 31 years, and was the environmental chemical director at Solid State Circuit in Springfield for nine years.

He was an active member of the Schweitzer United Methodist Church of Springfield and the Homebuilders S. S. Class.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Allen Davis and Dennis Davis.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sue Davis; two daughters, Suzanne and Lisa; a son, George Davis Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Leah; two granddaughters, Miranda and Francine; a sister, Goldie Arnold of Gravette, Ark.; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held at the Schweitzer United Methodist Church in Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Schweitzer United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or to the American Cancer Society.

Johnie W. Smith

Johnie W. Smith, 72, of Avoca, Ark., died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers. He was born April 21, 1932, in Avoca to Jesse Smith and Beaulah Johnson Smith.

He was a lifelong resident of the area. He was the former owner and operator of J&R; Backhoe and Dozier Service. He was a cattle farmer and an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Ray Smith; and a daughter, Jean Marie Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Smith; two sons and daughters-in-law, John W. "Sparkie" Smith Jr. and Janice Smith, and Ronnie Lee Smith and Paula Smith, all of Avoca; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail Ann Smith Whitney and Robert Whitney of Garfield, Ark.; two sisters, Goldie Ernst and Connie Easley, both of Avoca; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 18, at Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers, Ark.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Walnut Hill Chapel in Avoca. Burial will be at the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Avoca. Pallbearers will be Robert Whitney, Sparkie Smith, Ronnie Smith, Mike Scott, Jeff Slinkard and Monte Pike. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Frank C. Macri

Frank C. Macri, 63, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at his home. He was born March 14, 1942, in Chicago, Ill., to Frank Macri and Ethel Burianek Macri.

He served in the U.S. Army as a military police officer in Panama. He worked for the Chicago Police Department for more than 32 years. He and his wife moved to Bella Vista in 1997. He was a Realtor for Harris McHaney and delivered flowers for Always Flowers & Gifts for many years. He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He enjoyed fishing and playing golf.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara "Barb" Macri; a son, Steve Macri of Chicago, Ill.; a daughter, Janet Macri of Fayetteville, Ark.; a brother and sister-in-law, Ray Macri and Gerry Macri of Bolingbrook, Ill.; and two nephews, Jeff Macri of Lisle, Ill., and Darren Macri of Oak Park, Ill.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, March 18, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista with Father Andrew Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P. O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
