Clarence Wesley Reed

Clarence Wesley Reed, 82, of Lincoln, Ark., died Sunday, April 3, 2005, in Prairie Grove, Ark. He was born Nov. 21, 1922, in Cherokee City, Okla., to Clyde Raymond Reed and Ruth Elizabeth Bacon Reed.

He was a retired dairy farmer and welder. He served two terms as mayor of the city of Lincoln from 1987 through 1991. He was a World War II veteran. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Lincoln, a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge 615 and a 32 nddegree Mason.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Thiesse; seven brothers, Frank Reed, Robert J. Reed, Clyde R. Reed, George Reed, Charley Reed, Grover Reed and Jack Allison Reed; two sisters, Mabel Pettit and Goldie Reed; and a grandchild.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline E. Waller Reed; a son, Wesley Reed of Jonesboro, Ark.; three daughters, Louise Howard of Fort Smith, Ark., Bertie Jane Prigge of Isanti, Minn., and Shirley Holsinger of Allen, Texas; four brothers, Albert Reed and Donald Reed, both of Siloam Springs, Ark., Alfred "Shug" Reed of Rheas Mill, Ark., and Harvey Reed of Goodman, Mo.; two sisters, Barbara Atha of Westville, Okla., and Minnie Fielding of Fort Worth, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Bobby Dean Swain, Jeff Holsinger, Shannon Sensing, Jill Holsinger, Tracy Haskett, Paula Prigge, Jon Reed, Matthew Prigge, Brittany Reed and Megan Thiesse; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, at the Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove, Ark., with Malcom Scott and Ronnie Morrison.

Burial will be at the Beaty Cemetery near Lincoln.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Dean Swain, Jeff Holsinger, Jon Reed, Matthew Prigge, Brad Haskett and Lee Reed.

Honorary pallbearers will be William Petitt, Clyde William Reed, Randy Atha, Chuck Reed, Clayton Reed, Lesley Reed, Albert Raymond Reed, Allen Reed, Bill Reed, Phillip Reed and Dennis Sensing.

Arrangements are by Luginbuel Funeral Home of Prairie Grove, Ark.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1125 N College Ave., Suite 466, Fayetteville Ark.

Archie Gentry Brown

Archie Gentry Brown, 45, of Rogers, Ark., died Sunday, April 3, 2005. He was born April 26, 1959, in Seville, Spain, to Archie G. Brown and Donna Rhea Harbin Brown.

He was a machine operator and served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Donna Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Brown; a son, Andy Brown of Springdale, Ark.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Glenda Bates and Johnny Bates of Buffalo, Mo., and Becky Gucene and Del Gucene of Oakdale, Calif.; and a grandson, Gage Brown of Springdale.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 8, at Benton County Funeral Home of Rogers.

Memorials may be made to the Children’s Advocacy Center, in care of Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. Fourth St., Bentonville, AR 72756.

Teena Ann Craft

Teena Ann Craft, 48, of Rogers, Ark., died Monday, April 4, 2005, at her home. She was born June 16, 1956, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Earl Lippoldt and Durel Lippoldt.

She moved to Rogers in 1975 from Kinsley, Kan. She enjoyed motorcycle riding, camping and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Lippoldt.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis Neil Craft; her mother, Durel Lippoldt of Rogers; two brothers, Wayne Lippoldt of Rogers and Tim Lippoldt of Grandberry, Texas; a sister, Donna Skerjanec of Canyon City, Colo.; a brother-in-law, David Craft; two sisters-in-law, Debbie Craft of Bentonville, Ark., and Diana O’Connell of Lilburn, Ga.; three nieces; and three nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at the Rollins Funeral Home Chapel in Rogers with Steve Abb.

Charles R. James II

Charles R. James II, 31, of Rogers, Ark., died Sunday, April 3, 2005, in Joplin, Mo. He was born Dec. 25, 1973, in Lancaster, Calif., to Charles James and Hazel Bateman James.

Survivors include his parents, Charles and Hazel James of Rogers; a sister, Stacey Ann James of Rogers; a niece; and a nephew.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at the Bible Baptist Church in Rogers.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at the Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. Claud Slate. Arrangements are by Callison-Lough Funeral Service of Rogers. Memorials may be made to the Bible Baptist Church Building Fund, 3307 N. Dixieland Road, Rogers, AR 72756.

Alvia Sherman Cooper

Alvia Sherman Cooper, 71, of Springdale, Ark., died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at Northwest Medical Center of Washington County in Springdale. He was born Dec. 29, 1933, in Jefferson County, Ark., to Lewis Jacob Cooper and Lillie Lou Tucker Cooper.

He retired as a truck driver with Arkhola Sand and Gravel. He was a Christian and a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Local No. 373 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and the Masonic fraternity. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Cooper; two brothers; and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Anneta Shepherd Cooper; three sons and daughters-in-law, Allen Sloan and Terri Sloan of Huntsville, Ark., and Tim Sloan and Dian Sloan, and Randy Sloan and Patricia Sloan, all of Springdale; five brothers, Robert Cooper of Missouri, Wayne Cooper of Rogers, Ark., James Cooper and Frank Cooper, both of Texas, and Wilber Cooper of Carter, Okla.; two sisters, Elizabeth Cooper and Peggy Moore, both of Linden, Tenn.; two grandsons, Walter Yell and Christopher Sloan, both of Springdale, Ark.; three granddaughters, Casey Sloan Harriman of Wesley, Ark., Katie Sloan of Huntsville, Ark., and Cristy Yell Fouch of Fayetteville, Ark.; and three great-grandchildren, Elly Harriman of Wesley, Ark., and Tyler Fouch and Aubrey Fouch, both of Fayetteville.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at the Brashears Funeral Home Chapel in Huntsville, Ark., with the Rev. Raymond Martin.

Burial will be at the Buckeye Cemetery in Buckeye, Ark.

Pallbearers will be Allen Sloan, Tim Sloan, Randy Sloan, Chris Sloan, Preston Harriman and Aaron Fouch.

Honorary pallbearers will be R. C. Bolinger, Burse Sloan, Floyd Holloway, Walter Yell and Charles Day.

Clinton J. Cooper

Clinton J. Cooper, 94, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Monday, March 28, 2005, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County. He was born Nov. 16, 1910, in Dekalb County, Ill., to Clinton J. Cooper and Jessie Pierce Cooper.

He and his wife Thelma moved to Bella Vista in 1977. He was a fixture in Concordia activities. For many years he kept the bar in order at Happy Hour. He helped with the Kentucky Derby Party and he was master of ceremonies at many functions. He was a member and past president of the Bella Vista Fly Tyer’s Club and a member of the Quiet Birdmen Society. He has been active and interested in golfing, hunting, fishing and flying for all his adult life.

He was born on a farm near the town of Genoa, Ill. He spent his early years on the farm and the family moved into town in 1919. He enjoyed playing basketball in grammar school. In 1925 the family moved to Oak Park, Ill. He worked with his brother, Ed, in New York in the late 1920 ’s in the interior decorating business and sold cars in Oak Park in the 1930 ’s. He was president of the Oak Park Sportsman Club and was instrumental in the early efforts of wildlife conservation. In the late 1930 ’s he got into the office supply business. He joined the army in 1942 and went to Officers Candidate School. At the end of the war, he had attained the rank of Captain.

After the war he went back into the office supply business and worked in Texas, before making his permanent home in Kansas City, Mo. Once in Kansas City, he represented such luminaries as Steel Case Furniture, Avery Labels, Cross Pens and Esterbrook Pens. He received many industry awards for his professionalism and customer service. After several years in Kansas City, he bought his own airplane. He got his commercial flying license. He retired shortly before coming to live in Arkansas.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Thelma Cotton Cooper of Bella Vista; and nine nieces and nephews.

Burial will be on Sunday, May 1 at North Kingston Cemetery of Kingston, Ill. He will be buried with full military honors.

Margaret Ellen Morton Egbert

Margaret Ellen Morton Egbert, 88, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Thursday, April 7, 2005.

She was born Jan. 13, 1917, in East St. Louis, Ill., to Benjamin David and Ethel Phillips Morton.

She graduated from Hannibal Missouri High School in 1934 and William Woods College in Fulton, Mo., in 1936. She marriage Paul M. Egbert Sr. on October 12, 1940, after meeting him on a golf course and a whirlwind courtship of three months. During Paul’s WWII tour of duty at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss., she work as a secretary. In the mid 1950s, she worked as a secretary to a state representative at the State Capital in Des Moines, Iowa for three different legislative sessions. She was a school secretary at the Rockbrook Elementary School, District 66, Omaha, Neb., during the early to mid-1960 ’s. In the late 60s and early 70s, she worked as an executive secretary for the Dean of Continuing Education at the University of Omaha (now University of Nebraska at Omaha).

She and her husband retired to Bella Vista in 1973. They joined the St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church where Margaret was active in the Alter Guild. Margaret was a Helping Hands volunteer, an avid golfer and a persistent bridge player. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul M. Egbert Sr., and a sister, Martha Mae Ludwig. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Paul "Jay" M. Egbert, Jr. and Patty Egbert of Kearney, Neb.; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou Hager and Richard Hager of Katy, Texas; and three grandsons, Zachary G. Egbert, Benjamin Richard and Christopher Paul Hager. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12 in St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church. Memorials can be made to St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church, 1001 Kingsland Road, Bella Vista, AR 72714; or the Bella Vista Memory Garden, in care of Wanda Schrader, #2 Lois Lane, Bella Vista, AR 72715; or Concordia Care Center, # 7 Professional Drive, Bella Vista, AR 72714.

Jewell Selah Patton

Jewell Selah Patton, 90, of Fresno, Calif., died Tuesday, April 5, 2005. She was born January 7, 1915, in Winslow, Ark., to Robert and Anna Reed Pense. She and her husband farmed in Arkansas during the 1930 ’s. After World War II, they settled in Torance, Calif., to raise their family. She worked as a cook, hotel attendant, child and elder care giver. She was a nursery attendant for more than 30 years at the Torrence Church of the Nazerene. She spent a year in Papua, New Guinea, where her son and his family served as medical missionaries. She was preceded in death by her husband, master carpenter J. M. Patton in 1961 and several siblings. Survivors include one son, Jack Thomas Patton of Fresno, Calif.; two daughters, Joyce Ann Gray of Berthoud, Colo., and Nora Sue Dutra of Redondo Beach, Calif.; seven grandsons; eight great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Lee Pense of Springdale, Ark., and Donald Pense of Sequim, Wash.; and many extended family members. There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, at the Church of Today in Pea Ridge, Ark., with Pastor Brian Tidwell. Burial will be at Buttram Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Children’s Care Ministries at the Fresno First Church of the Nazarene, 6758 East Butler Avenue, Fresno, Calif. 93727.

Helen "Ilene" Pritchard

Helen "Ilene" Pritchard, 82, of Gravette, Ark., died Friday, April 8, 2005, at Gravette Medical Center. She was born Feb. 13, 1923, in Cherokee City, Ark. She raised cattle and farmed with her husband in Gravette for more than 66 years. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ellen Lorene Harris, her twin, and Olive Higday. She is survived by her husband, A. J. Pritchard; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Bob Pritchard and Marcia Pritchard of Gravette; a daughter, Linda S. Patton of Gravette; a brother, Gene Higday of California; four grandchildren, Angela Doan, Jerry Lee Pritchard, Reannon McKenzie, and Lori Leonard; and four great-grandchildren, Ross Lee Barton, Amanda Dawn Barton, Tyler Justin Pritchard and Nathania Marie McKenzie. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, April 11 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 12 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. Raymond Scott. Burial will be at the Lee Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Juanita "Grandma Mickey" Mears

Juanita "Grandma Mickey" Mears, 62, of Rogers, Ark., died Friday, April 8, 2005. She was born September 29, 1942, in San Pedro, Calif., to Claro and Rose Martinez Carlos.

She worked for McDonald’s in Rogers and formerly at Los Angles United School District. She was a member of the Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Walt D. Holdbrook and Warren Mears; a brother, David Carlos; a sister, Terri Lyn Carlos, and a grandson, Brandyn Holdbrook.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law Kenny Holdbrook, Sr., and Jamie Holdbrook of Rogers; and a daughter and daughter-in-law, Carol Holdbrook and Teresa Betts-Holdbrook of Rogers; three brothers, Edward Carlos of Scottsdale, Ariz., Richard Carlos of Torrance, Calif., and Daniel Carlos of Riverside, Calif.; six grandchildren, Mikayla Betts-Holdbrook, Kenneth Holdbrook, Jr., Brooke Burns, Jessie Holdbrook, Samantha Burns and Jakobe Pinoski, all of Arkansas, and six grandchildren in California and two grandchildren in Florida. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
