Arthur Allen Jr.
Arthur Allen Jr., 76, of Gateway, Ark., died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, at his home. He was born May 12, 1927, in Neodesha, Kan., to Arthur Allen Sr. and Annie Collins Allen.
He was raised in the Golden, Mo., area. He worked in cement construction for many years for Mid-Kansas Construction Co. and Sherwood Construction Co., both of Wichita, Kan. In 1984, he moved to Garfield, Ark., where he was a member of the Church of God. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Allen.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Sisco Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Danner. Burial was at the Bayless Cemetery near Gateway.
Marilyn M. Anderson
Marilyn Mitchell Anderson, 75, of Rogers, Ark., died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, at her home. She was born July 11, 1928, in Rochester, Minn., to John N. Hyatt and Mary Kluckner Hyatt.
She retired from the Customer Service Department of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and from the Retail Store Set-up division of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of Rogers, and a member and past president of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Mitchell.
A private burial was held.

Frances A. Deffenbaugh
Frances A. Deffenbaugh, 77, of Rogers, Ark., formerly of Bella Vista, Ark., died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at Innisfree Nursing Center in Rogers. She was born Jan. 17, 1926, in Chicago, Ill., to Cranston Olsen and Edith Peterson Olsen.
She marriage Charles Deffenbaugh on Feb. 16, 1946, in Chicago. She was a retired secretary for Warner Hardware, and moved to Benton County from Chicago in 1977. She was a member of First Christian Church of Bentonville, Ark. She enjoyed gardening and birdwatching.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Deffenbaugh; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Deffenbaugh and Shelley Deffenbaugh of Citrus Heights, Calif.; a daughter, Donna Dustman of Wyoming, Minn.; a brother, Jerome Olsen of Chicago; four grandchildren, Dawn Deffenbaugh, Tamara Lorentzen, Janet Corbett and Charles Dustman; and eight great-grandchildren.
Eunice L. Garvin
Eunice L. Garvin, 95, of Bentonville, Ark., died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, at a local nursing home. She was born May 29, 1908, in Benton County, Ark., to William N. Foust and Viola Johnson Foust.
She enjoyed weaving, and arts and crafts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Garvin; four brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, William "Jack" Garvin and Vera Garvin of Joplin, Mo., Glen Albert Garvin and Ellen Garvin of Lahabra, Calif., and Kenneth Garvin and Kathleen Garvin of Rogers, Ark.; three daughters and a son-in-law, Opal Youngman and Marty Wheels, both of Jamestown, Calif., and Kathleen Stubblefield and Joe Stubblefield of Blaresville, Ga.; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Benton County Memorial Park in Rogers with Alan Kinyon.
Kenneth Marvin 'Buster' Hendrix
Kenneth Marvin "Buster" Hendrix, 79, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 27, 1923, in Crowell, Texas, to James Marvin Hendrix and Dilla Canzora Hendrix.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; a son, Marvin Ray Hendrix of Siloam Springs; two daughters, Beverly Fletcher of Henderson, Texas, and Wanda Lavon James of Siloam Springs; two brothers, J. Lee Hendrix of Siloam Springs, and James Hendrix of Highfill, Ark.; two sisters, Dorothy Holland of Bentonville, Ark.; and Maxine Marler of Rogers, Ark.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Douglas Cemetery in Highfill, Ark., with Larry Ellis.

Jaison Hernandez
Jaison Hernandez, infant son of Miguel Hernandez and Aracely Falcon of Rogers, Ark., was born and died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers.
Survivors include his parents; and a brother, Miguel Angel Hernandez.
Graveside funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 22, at the Rogers Cemetery with Father Miles Heinen. Arrangements were by the Benton County Funeral Home of Rogers.
Sylvia Jewell Lemke
Sylvia Jewell Lemke, 82, of Rogers, Ark., died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers. She was born Feb. 15, 1921, in Featherston, Okla., to George Washington McMillan and Sabrena Jewell Nichols McMillan.
She was a homemaker and a veteran of the Women's Army Air Corps, 1st Division.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Earl Lemke; a sister; and five brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Harold Leroy Lemke of Willard, Mo., and Robert Earl Lemke of Pea Ridge, Ark.; three daughters, Phyllis Kay Fralick of Indiana, Pamela Jene Albrecht of Rogers and Patricia Ann Leach of Anderson, Mo.; a brother, Floyd McMillan; two sisters, Annie York and Gracie Scarrow; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Rita Grace Rand Mongar
Rita Grace Rand Mongar, 75, of Rogers, Ark., died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at Haven House in Lowell, Ark. She was born July 4, 1928, in Bradford, Pa., to Thomas Butler and Edna Reynolds Butler.
She marriage Lauren Mongar on Dec. 23, 1982, in Omaha, Neb. She was a homemaker. The couple moved to the Rogers area in 1985. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Rogers.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Thursday, Aug. 21, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Omaha with the Rev. R. Patrick McCaslin. Burial was at the Calvary Cemetery in Omaha. Arrangements were by Heafey-Heafey-Hoffman-Dworak-Cutler Funeral Home of Omaha.
Tom Venis
Tom Venis, 87, of Monkey Island, Okla., formerly of Bentonville, Ark., died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at Grove Nursing Center in Grove, Okla. He was born March 13, 1916, in Wellington, Kan., to Emmett Venis and Annie Kessler Venis.
He marriage Edith Bell on Aug. 12, 1937, in Winfield, Kan. He worked as a farmer near Wellington, Kan. He moved to Bentonville, Ark., after retiring from the farm. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wellington. In 1993, he moved to Monkey Island.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Bell Venis; a brother; and a sister.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Colleen Mason and Jerry Mason of Monkey Island; two grandchildren, Alan Lawrence of New York City and Linda Higginbotham and her husband Lawson Higginbotham of Rogers, Ark.; and a great-granddaughter, Chrissa Handrick of Rogers.
Graveside funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Rolston Cemetery on Monkey Island with the Rev. Kim Hays. Arrangements were by the Ellis Family Funeral Home of Grove, Okla.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's research.
Robert 'Leon' Benson
Robert "Leon" Benson, 63, of Lowell, Ark., died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at Springdale Health and Rehab in Springdale, Ark. He was born March 11, 1940, in Springdale to Loy Benson and Maxine Wood Benson.
He was marriage to Sharon Goodnight. He was a retired truck driver with Willis Shaw. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a lifetime resident of the area.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Benson; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. Benson and Sandra Benson of Springdale; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa McQuiston and Jerry McQuiston of Clifty, Ark., and Janna Wilson and DeWayne Wilson of Garfield, Ark.; his mother, Maxine Kidd of Lowell; three sisters, Francis Ross of Lowell, Carolyn Terry of Springdale, and Betty Juarez of Bakersfield, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements were by Callison-Lough Funeral Services of Rogers.
Richard Lee Bersche
Richard Lee Bersche, 63, of Rogers, Ark., died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003. He was born May 13, 1940, in Plymouth, Neb., to George Christian Bersche and Hulda Elizabeth Unger Bersche.
He was a United States Army Reserves veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Bersche; a son, Chad Bersche of Chesterfield, Mo.; a brother, Duane Bersche of Bartlesville, Okla.; a sister, Helen Gorrell of Bartlesville; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation arrangements were by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers, Ark.
Toy Vadine Faulk
Toy Vadine Faulk, 76, of Rogers, Ark., died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers. She was born Dec. 6, 1926, in Marmaduke, Ark., to Seab Barnhart and Rose Etta Moore Barnhart.
She had lived in the area since 1968, after moving from Phoenix, Ariz. She was the co-valedictorian at Marmaduke High School. She enjoyed reading. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, Randy Faulk; a son, V. Michael Faulk of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna Jordan and Randy Jordan of Rogers; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 17, at the funeral home with Chaplain Arch Schmidt. Entombment was at Benton County Memorial Park in Rogers. Pallbearers were Shane Ober, Jason Fortner, Randy Jordan and Jeremy Jordan.
